This is Goutman's decision alone. Jean is not even writing ATWT anymore. She is on strike. He is to blame for this betrayal.

I'm not saying I want the show in more turmoil, because I watched the show when neither Scott Bryce or even Craig were around. Goutman has worn out his welcome, obviously. But when something is WORKING, you don't F it up! Bryce was the only man over 50 with the support to drive a story on this show. What is daytime's SICK obsession with luring actors we love back to their shows and kicking them to the curb in less than a year? We make commitments to these shows for decades, and they can't even make good on a 3 year contract!

The writing was on the wall the minute they had Craig plotting to get rid of an unborn child; They get Scott Bryce back just to box him into a corner...indeed a waste...

What gets me is how they bring on all these newbies and give them so much airtime but box long history characters into a corner to where there is no choice but to write them out of the show.

What are they going to do, kill Craig off too?

I agree with your post. It's a slap in the face of long time viewers. We were promised or should I say he was promised too.......to work with Elizabeth Hubbard a lot. What happened to that?? Once WW was taken away. Lucinda and Craig had little to no scenes together. Shame on Chris Goutman. The man should lose his job. I have lost my patience with him. He is a hack EP.

I think this is probably the longest EP tenure in ATWT's history, if not, it's up there. The man has obviously burnt out and needs to move on. I'm sure he'd get a job at one of the ABC soaps. P&G and CBS, it's time to hire a NEW EP.

If that is the case, that will be two characters with long histories off the canvas.

I'm extremely disappointed in ATWT if they go that route. Cavalierly throwing longtime characters away like that comes back to bite you in the ass every time, no matter what show it is.
