Members George008
Yep.. The vote Wednesday for the re-worked initial bill ..will be used as a "feeler" for what the Senate wants to do...Even though the House will have to re-vote on a re-worked bill later..The House still has time to re-work the bill before the Senate vote on Wednesday... Members bandbfan
Also because the Democrats are afraid that if they passed it and Republicans didn't, and something went wrong, then they could blaim the Democrats, which still would've been a little ironic since Bush and Co supported it. Members George008
Exactly...LOL..Bush is more fiscally liberal than most Dems.!
Members Jess
She blamed the mess on Bush's tax policies. She also said that he had inherited a surplus and turned it into a historic deficit. It's not anything new. It was ill-timed, but I have a hard time believing that Republicans would vote against a Republican's president's intiative -- one the Republican president said was necessary to save the economy -- only because the Democratic House Speaker said bad things about the Republican president. I think the Democrats decided it was not there job alone to bail out the Republican president. They said from the very beginning that they would work with Bush and Paulson but it was Bush's job to line up Republican support. The bill is a appropriation bill. It has to originate in the House. The Senate can not do anything until after the House.
Members George008
This is ridiculous..! What exact Bush policy can be pointed to, that would substatiate this? I just saw an Obama ad on CNN that pretty much said the same thing...Corporate greed...loose regulation on Wall Street..etc.. There are specific legislative measures that can be used to lay this problem directly in the lap of the Democratic Party...The CRA!..The Dems pushed banks, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and other Wall Street entities to support these bad loans hoping that the housing bubble would hold the value of properties...its not a problem of deregulation, greed, the free market or Wall Street! This was caused by legislation...now they want to pass more legislation to correct the problem..I'm getting sick of this! I surely hope that McCain brings this up in the next debate. If he doesn't he is a moron and doesn't deserve to be elected! Plain and simple~!
Members bandbfan
LOL at Palin saying she's read about Biden since the 2nd grade. Does she know who's at the top of her ticket?!
Members George008
The House has until Wednesday to iron out the wrinkles. The Senate will vote on the bill regardless, on Wednesday...they have alloted the call for the Senate at that time...it doesn't matter what happens in the House before Wednesday, pass or fail, the Senate is scheduled in two days. The bill has been introduced to the Senate floor and is on the Docket. Also, the Senate can vote before the House if they want....however, the bill would have to be reworded slightly to allow a re-vote to take place in the House.. Members EricaKane70
I really was suprised that 140 democrats along with 65 reps were for the bill and 133 republicans and 95 dems were against it, aren't the republicans suppose to be on bush's side???? Members Wales2004
If anyone should take issue with her, it should be Bush since she put him down. She only mentioned the Republicans once and not in a manner that justifies their using her words as an excuse. IA with them on that and had the President been Democrat, I would agree with the Republicans taking the position that the Democrats are taking. If what I heard on CNN and MSNBC is accurate, the Democrats delivered the number of votes they said they would. The Republicans voted 2 to 1 against it and since they are concerned about their constituents' stance then they need to come up with a bill that they feel works better. They are taking this as an opportunity to do nothing and blame the Democrats if it passes and blame them if it fails. If they cannot come up with a solution then they need to be quiet about the results. And that's how it should be. It would make no sense at all for the Senate to waste time voting on a bill that is going to have to be modified in order for it to pass the House. I was wondering how long it would be before McCain blamed this all on Obama and it didn't take long. I personally don't think either one should be blamed.....especially since I'd expect them both to have more influence in the Senate than the House. But......McCain "suspended" his campaign to get this done and his people were out giving him credit for reaching a deal yesterday. Now that went belly up so he's blaming Obama for not doing anything. McCain said he didn't want to phone it in so he went in person. Obama said he'd been making phone calls. More Democrats voted in favor it than against it. More Republicans voted against it than in favor. If McCain doesn't want to take the blame for not getting through to the Republicans then he should not blame Obama since Obama didn't make any promises, guarantees, claims or suggestions about the plan at all. Members EricaKane70
LMAO, Palin just needs to read cue cards from now on, if she can't can't say anything intelligent she shouldn't say anything at all in public at least. Biden is gonna mop the floor with her when they debate. I really hope white women are watching these interviews and horrible responses to the press, she is no hillary clinton, and its about time they realized this (I mentioned white women because obama is losing ground with them since palin came on board). Casey how do you feel about Palin since her last horrible string of interviews and talks with the press?
Members Wales2004
There is some sort of split in the Republican party which I find kind of interesting.
Members George008
I didn't feel her interview with Couric was that bad. Couric pressured her with a question that she took the answer away from her on...She asked her for an example on John McCain calling for regulation...Palin gave an answer..then Couric asked for a second example...continually...The interview was conducted in a lousy and unfair manner, IMO.. She then kept asking that same question. The media then singled out the clip of her remark about "getting back to her"...Palin did this as a way of shutting her up..JMO
Members George008
Am I missing the Dems being unanimous? How can you single out the Republicans in this respect?
Members EricaKane70
Actually thats not the part I thought was bad, I thought the worst part was when she couldn't come up with a good excuse for comments she made about being able to see russia from her house; the other part I thought was bad was her comments about putin/russia trading with alaska. There was nothing wrong with the way Katie Couric handled the interview, when you are in a government position or potential position you need to have clear and concise answers on the spot, she just comes up with dumb replies or doesn't answer the quesition at all. Katie is not to blame for Palin not being able to come up with good answers. I have a real problem with someone that could be the potential VP of the U.S. seeming like she doesn't know what shes talking about and it really reflects badly on McCain. Members bandbfan
I don't think she explained the Freddie connection to one of McCain's campaign managers very well. Whether the connection is there or not, she took too much time to think about the answer and seemed very unsure even after that time.
