I posted it yesterday morning and since this may be the only issue on which I can win on this board as the deck is stacked against me....looky here:

http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/index.p...mp;#entry648878

Anyway I know that people probably miss a lot of posts since I have missed responding to quite a number of ones that I saw but then couldn't find when I went back....and I give up pretty easily.

The McCain Campaign responds:

"We feel that the deplorable lies that have been told by Wales shows that he is willing to put himself ahead of the message board. If he would spend his time watching the Young & The Restless (Which is what Roman was doing as Wales was posting this article first) we feel that we can get back to a spirit of bi-partisanship at SON."

Obama responds to McCain’s “time out”: The debate should not be cancelled

Also as far as the McCain/Palin campaign kicking out the press during their trip to meet foreign leaders, etc. That smacks of pure communism! Communists do NOT believe in freedom of speech or freedom of the press, but in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, BOTH are GUARANTEED in the CONSTITUTION!!!

Mulder! You have said it all. Bush's Administration has treated the press like a pariah and it appears that McCain is wanting to continue on that path. I guess they're scared shitless that an open, transparent administration will show them to be the criminals that they are.

How could I not forgive you? People that are the bomb have massive egos...uhm I mean hearts :lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol:;)

Cool beans, my friend.

Then you all should read what Campbell Brown at CNN said. She apparently blasted the McCain campaign for shielding Palin.

And Wales....being Wales (which BTW is fabulous)......responds that Wales just might be one very fly chick.....who knows???? I think Brian was trying to uncover this the other day. But my motto is.....brace yourself......don't ask don't tell. If there's one thing I liked about The Human Stain it is that when the protagonist had the chance to set the record straight.....he didn't because it ultimately doesn't matter. Wow.....'still a legend in my own mind though. Oh and I'm pretty versatile too.

The impression that I am getting is that McCain wants to focus on this historical issue and come to a resolution..

I don't get that impression at all. I think the man is stalling and playing partisan games....which he's become accustomed to doing so no surprise there.

I dont think he said he wants to avoid or cancel the debate, just delay it. But Obama doesn't want to come together in a bi-partisan effort by suspending the campaign and debates...he wants to continue the partisan bickering..

Cancel no....stall yes.....maybe he's looking for time to get back on track. This kind of piddly partisn rubbish to me. Was he not holding hands with the Democrats through his years in office as this type of mess was building up?

'Sorry if I don't stand up and cheer this move. Maybe he could sit down and tell Bush to get Paulson to stop seeking so much power or he can come out and get all the Democrats to praise his magnificent efforts in getting them to play along.

Obama has avoided all of McCain's invites to participate in town hall style debates. Do you feel he was right in this?

This kind of thing puts me off poltical parties. So one guy from party A gets to lay down the rules and the other guy from party B has to heed and follow or else he's subjected to attacks. I think each candidate pushes for what's beneficial to him and in this case McCain is more comfortable with a small crowd......Obama probably really doesn't care so I don't see why he should do that which is expeditious to McCain simply to make McCain happy? What was the concession that McCain using bullying tactics plan to make? None so far that I can see.....oh wait he wouldn't have stuck it to Obama in ads.

BTW, Do you all know what the debate topic is for Friday? It's foreign policy!...why would Obama feel this is something that is front and center on American's minds right now..?

At this point even if the topic were should white shoes be worn after September, the people need to see them go head to head in a debate forum. The only thing front and center on my mind right now is food....and I admittedly have a short attention span so I don't want them having any convoluted debates on issues they think will matter to me.....if I can't understand what they're really talking about. And since I'm so shallow anyway.....I'll get distracted in no time at all if someone's tie clashes....although they'll probably do the whole navy blue suit thing.....which won't be adventurous enough for me....

*Roman whispers*

It was OBAMA who called McCain this morning and said they should issue a joint statement of bi-partisanship. It was AFTER that call that McCain suspended his campaign.

Ok. So why is Obama's backtracking on the bi-partisan effort? Why continue with the bickering when we need every Senator to come together and focus on this issue?

And, I'll ask again......if he's such a damn pro on FP, why does he want to cancel this debate? Can he not do two things at once?

I'm sure McCain could, but this type of financial crisis is a very large historical event. It's not the regular ho hum daily votes of congress.

Aren't you also one of those who said neither Obama or McCain could do anything themselves about this crisis?

Guess you changed your tune once again, Casey.

I've never said anything even close to this Roman. I have no idea what you are talking about...

Here's another side to the issue of postponing or canceling the debate:

Ole Miss Officials: Debate Cancellation Would Be $5.5 Million Loss

Ironically enough, if John McCain goes through with his threat to skip the foreign policy debate scheduled for this Friday for the sake of prolonging and complicating the ongoing negotiations over the Paulson bailout package, it may end up creating another distressed asset -- the University of Mississippi's investment in Friday's face-off. Officials from Ole Miss told ABC News today that a cancellation would be "devastating" to the University -- and that a postponement might not be possible:

Andrew Mullins, special assistant to University Chancellor Robert Khayat, told ABC News that the Ole Miss campus has been transformed to accommodate the candidates and the press. Road blocks are in place on campus and in the community and the debate television set for the candidates has already been constructed. He said the university has spent roughly five and half million dollars getting ready for the debate.

Mullins also noted that if the Commission on Presidential Debates asks the campus to hold the debate at a later date, he is not sure the university would be able to accommodate them.

"It's huge. You cannot just say that you're not going to do this thing," Mullins said. "I don't have any idea whether we do the debate" at a later date. "[We] probably wouldn't do it."

How is Obama backtracking or bickering?

I'm sure McCain could, but this type of financial crisis is a very large historical event. It's not the regular ho hum daily votes of congress.

Is the debate going to take a few days to have or is it a matter of hours because when politicians posture about how they're skipping several hours of this to do this ginnormous thing that is going to take more than those hours... Why didn't he rush back sooner or did it take him this long to realize it might be serious and now he wants to jump right on it? How much confidence should the public have in a leader who takes a little while to figure out that a problem is really a problem and might seriously need some attention?

I've never said anything even close to this Roman. I have no idea what you are talking about...

Let me say it then....Obama and McCain aren't going to fix this problem whether they go hold hands and sing kumbaya or not. The whole village has to fix in it and they're not the whole village and right now all they can do is pose and try to look presidential. I expect them to show up for the vote and even participate via teleconferencing on the matter but neither one is the head of the pertinent committee....or did I miss that too?

McCain Seeks to Delay First Debate Amid Financial Crisis

Now, why is he trying to cancel the debate? Is the man not ready?

I thought he was ready on "Day One". What will he do if someone lauches an attack.......call up their leader and ask for a delay until he's ready to respond?!

This is such BS.

So McCain wanting to cancel the debates is Obama and the Liberal Media's fault.

I can't wait for November 5th.....some of this BS has really gotten old.

True. I'll be glad when Obama/Biden win the election and McCain has to give his concession speech. Of Course, Sarah Palin will be standing by quitely smiling, lol. Since the GOP do no think a woman should be allowed to speak.

Does anybody think that McCain is trying to divert attention from the fact that his campaign manager was getting money from Fannie Mae on a monthly basis and that his company was still getting paid by Fannie Mae up until last month?

And how ironic is it that McCain had an ad out tying to make Raines out as an Obama financial adviser in an effort to make a connection to Fannie Mae and Obama when McCain's campaign manager had an actual connection to Fannie Mae?

What do you think of McCain lying to David Letterman saying he could not do his show because he had to go and handle the financial crisis when it turns out that McCain was actually doing an interview with Katie Couric and Letterman was able to see the feed at the time when McCain should have been taping his show? He also met with the woman who formerly supported Clinton and is now supporting him today and he'll be in New York until morning...so he's really rushing back to Washington to work this thing out eh...

Oh right. The Bush Doctrine isn't policy, is it? Hmmm. I'd call it a nightmare, but in fact it is a nightmare of a policy. And I can't remember....did she know what that was? Um, no.

Explain to me, Greg, exactly what Sarah said to make you think she was clueless on the historic, celebrated Bush Doctrine?

Damn!

McCain is getting BLASTED right now at CNN. Damn.

NOOooooo! You think? *CNN* blasting *McCain*??

Why, I'm shocked...

You're taking a big leap.....not even a jump to this conclusion.

I watch a couple of cable political shows here and there that are liberal but that doesn't mean they don't point out problems with the Democrats at times....anyway, it's besides the point since I don't really consider that news.....even though the actual news isn't much in the way of news.

I listen to newsradio every morning for the amount of time they claim it takes to bring me the world....though I don't think they've ever delivered on that claim. If there is a real bias on that station....it's conservative as they are always making Obama responsible for anything and everything. If there is a conclusion to leap or jump to......it might be that they don't have a problem with the other candidates.

I see. So Democrats NEVER pain the Republicans as responsible for anything and everything.

Except... maybe...

ONLY the biggest financial crisis to hit the nation in our lifetimes!?!?!?

Paging Barney Frank... Paging Barney Frank... do you still believe there is no crisis? Mr. Frank?

The thing about media and super analysts is they think they know what the average person is thinking and they keep assuming that people care about the things they say people do. Since the media with all its negativity tends to tap into the cynical side of viewers then I think it's more likely that people will look at McCain's effort to stall the debate as his trying to avoid it instead of as any great exercise of concern for the economy.....he said it was fundamentally sound several days ago.....but even if people missed that they do know that the situation didn't just arise today so what was he doing about it all week?

And I'll add this as well.....even though we may have given it some thought and concluded that both parties contribute to the mess.....McCain can't really tap dance away from it by claiming to be a reformer coming to save the day. Those low information voters to which the media refers at times are basic enough to associate the problems of the day with whoever is currently in office. It may not be Bush's fault or the Republican's fault but if half the people in the nation were asked....who do you think they'd blame it on?

Biden would blame it on James K. Polk, based on a 1847 television address President Polk gave on the radio discussing defaulted loans in the Unorganized Territories of the Pennsylvania coal fields in Louisiana.

No [!@#$%^&*]? George F. Will??? Are the Republicans defecting from their ticket? McCain has had problems attracting them since Day One and even after his pathetic attempt to get them back by selecting SP, they still aren't drinking the kool-aid. Well, most of them aren't anyway...

No Greg... people like George Will have integrity and honesty. I'm sure you guys have them in the Democratic party, too... there is... ummm...

Joe Lieberman!

No, wait...

Where do I say that the Democrats don't point fingers and what does that have to do with you jumping to the conclusion that the reason I didn't hear about Biden's gaffes on the news is because the news is liberal? How am I supposed to respond to yiou when it seems like you didn't read what I wrote?

As far as your question to GGL on the Bush Doctrine there's this:

Palin asked about the Bush Doctrine:

GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine? PALIN: In what respect, Charlie? GIBSON: The Bush -- well, what do you -- what do you interpret it to be? PALIN: His world view. GIBSON: No, the Bush doctrine, enunciated September 2002, before the Iraq war. PALIN: I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell bent on destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way, though. There have been mistakes made. And with new leadership, and that's the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy, is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better. GIBSON: The Bush doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a preemptive strike against any other country that we think is going to attack us. Do you agree with that?

PALIN: Charlie, if there is legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country. In fact, the president has the obligation, the duty to defend.
