I'm sorry, but we're in a war, our economy is not strong, we're have a huge deficit. The only way to get out of that is to end the war, curb spending and raising taxes. Obama and McCain can say they won't raise taxes, but it needs to be done in order to get us out of this predicament.

Corporations and Manufacturing jobs didn't just outsource because of taxes, they did it because they can hire multiple people for less money than it would to hire one American to do the same job. They can get more work for less money, and without the headache of a worker complaining about "rights."

I should have said hypocritical instead of vulgar. That would have been a better choice of words to convey what I am thinking.

It's just that Obama wants to be seen as the candidate for the common man. On one side of his mouth he is talking about how many houses John McCain owns and on the other side he is speaking on a stage that is the most elaborate in the history of presidential conventions.

Washington has always prided itself on simplicity. The oval office and white house are much more practical than other nations' palaces.

With the wealth of our nation we could have very elaborate accomadations for our president, but we dont for the simple fact that the president wants to relate to the people.

McCain's camp is trying to point out that Obama is very ornate in his "celebrity". Which is a direct contradiction to his message.

I think its ridiculous that the GOP are saying that obama's stage was too much, umm he had 75,000 people in attendance what did they want him to have a simple plain stage where no one could of seen him. When you have a big crowd like that you have to have a big stage. and I found nothing wrong with the set design. The GOP is just grasping at straws again, just like they did with obama is a muslim, doesn't wear the pin flag, went to school in a Mosque, etc, etc. An they are still angered that the clintons didn't do damage to obama's convention.

An I think someone stated above that nbc and abc were now conservative. I believe that to be true about abc, I don't think so on nbc they are kinda 50/50 leaning towards liberal. I know that charlie Gibson from abc definantly does not like obama, I wish he would just come out and say he's a republican or state his problem with obama, because its so damn obvious that he does not like this man. Every time he comments on obama he turns his nose up.

What's wrong with being a celebrity? I'm not sure when it became a terrible thing to be one. I think it's ridiculous that people try to make it into a bad thing that Obama attracts crowds. Don't politicians want people to listen to them?

He's not an airhead. He did make the Harvard Law Review didn't he? Or is that a terrible thing too?

I don't know what this has to do with what I said. I'm not in the habit of using labels. I said the media was biased period. I also said that Obama is being held to a higher standard than other candidates. I didn't mention any specific stations nor did I say it's one label versus another.

Obama has made comments about increasing min. wage further, that would only widen the problem as well. Everyone is not going to be rich. We have a min. wage for a reason. One great thing about this country, everyone has the opportunity to better themselves through education and hard work. Unfortunately, there will be some that are not going to succeed as much as others. It scares me to see government plan to step in and change that. While it seems fair for the government to spread the wealth, you have to admit that it is not fair to punish the successful.

Being a "celebrity" is kind of the Rep's way of saying that he is flashy with little substance. Just my take on it.

What were you saying then? Did I read it wrong when you were talking about Charlie Gibson(ABC) and Tom Brokaw (NBC) being bias towards Obama? I infered that you were saying that they were siding with the right in 2008.

Sorry about my use of labels. I am not used to the sensitivity towards them. Where I am from the majority of people are conservative and it is hard for me to follow your point when you refuse to label your comments and would rather leave them as ambiguous and vague.

I was letting you know that never in my lifetime have I ever heard of right leaning bias on a major TV network.

I'm not sure. I'm guessing Romney or Ridge.

Wasn't ronald regan an actor, and he is one of the most famous republican's thats why I don't buy the whole obama is a celebrity thing the republicans are preaching. In today's media anyone can be famous and it doesn't take much just look at paris hilton and anyone she hangs out with. An I also think being in a public office sort of makes you a celebrity, regardless if you want the attention or not. People like obama and the clintons are just more popular than most.

Cnn is reporting that Huckabee is not McCain's vp.

Well, hopefully, we can see talk of the issues at the Republican Convention.

And, as much talk as I keep hearing about Obama and the little silly questioning of him, not once did I hear him or anyone else question JM's service or his patriotism.

I can't say that for some of Obama's critics, the same people who ran the Wright crap into the ground while not realizing that McCain had a pastor (John Hagee) who called the Catholic Church "The Great Whore" and has made very nasty statemenst about Jews.....

And it barely get covered by the "liberal media".

I don't know what one has to do with the other.

I don't really care how many houses the McCains have because I expect that sort of thing happens when people have lots of money and they have a right to buy as much property as they want. However, I don't think a person with a lavish lifestyle looks believable when he/she claims to relate to someone struggling to make ends meet.

I don't really care where Obama held his speech because I have long found it hypocritical of the Democrats to proclaim themselves the party of the poor when most of them have lavish lifestyles and spend a lot of money on campaigning and inaugural balls.

I can do without hearing about McCain and his houses but what is striking about that is the fact that he tries to portray Obama as being elite when he's bathing in money himself.

I wasn't keen on Tom Kane (I believe it is) making out like there's something wrong with having several houses and there are certainly people within his own party that are extremely wealthy. My thing is don't point fingers at someone for doing the same thing or being in the same boat as you.

If you can't say specifically what McCain's plan is to turn this nation around then why go on and on about Obama's faults. I think it's hypocritical to expect something of one candidate and not the other.

I think that is just another example of covering up for McCain's weaknesses. There are many conservatives who are not happy having McCain as their nominee, and it seems to me they are making the same mistakes John Kerry made 4 years ago.......tell the people why they should not vote for someone instead of giving them someone to vote for.

Yeah that's exactly their point. In today's media ANYONE can be a celebrity. They are saying that the same type people that care about Paris Hilton's daily affairs are rallying behind Obama. Everyone knows that Paris Hilton stands for nothing of substance.

That's just my take on it. I think it's all kind of silly. That's why I was surprised with the ornate stage. It was playing right into the "flashy/no substance" image that the republicans are trying to spin.

I would prefer them to focus on the issues rather than all of this. I think the "celebrity" ad is by far McCain's worst.

That sounds a little out of context. Surely he had more to say to back it up the reasoning of that statement.
