Ummmm. Yes, it is an investigation tool used by police to gather evidence.

I assume the article is correct because I've seen it posted on several different news sites.

And lastly, you may want to apologize or something about your last posts on this topic. Just sayin....

Sure I apologize...wholeheartedly.

I really didn't know that rape victims had to pay for the police investigation anywhere in this country...That is news to me...

With the recent events in my home town, I was under the impression that rape victims have compensated medical treatment, because the investigation and treatment are intertwined. I did not know that they had to pay for the actual investigation tools...That's crazy!

I believe that the article is correct. I was just questioning the fact that the rape kit is solely used for investigation purposes and that victims are required to pay for the investigation side. That doesn't seem right at all...If it is...I am totally against that.

And my point is that I do not see why you can't be happy that she did that without having to put down Obama for drawing a crowd. It's like this little game of her crowd is better because they came to hear the issues and his didn't because there was music. First of all, what difference does it make if the end result is that "X" number of people heard him speak about issues? Did the maybe concert goers all get up and file out after the music ended since they got what they came for?

I think if I were moved to go and listen to a political speech and there was music I liked it would be a bonus....I wouldn't go to a political speech just for a concert. Let's just forget that it was a historical event for one political party and that people may have wanted to join in the celebration.

I haven't seen any one on here trying to negate the post that said how many people showed up to hear Palin or trying to minimize her event in any way.....and I'm sure if they wanted to, they could.

Again, you show this degree of contempt for the Democrats to the point where you can resist the urge to take a jab yet again at the setting for Obama's speech. There's bitter fruit and then there's really bitter fruit.

As for your position on CEOs....I agree with you somewhat. I do think that the hiring boards of their perspective companies should be free to pay them what they choose and include whatever incentives they want. That said, the problem arises when line workers get cheated out of their pension plans because a CEO ran the company into the ground.....yet he/she gets to walk away with millions. I wish people were honest and would not hurt the workers who generally are the heart and soul of their companies. The taxpayers should not have to come and bail companies out because they were managed by greedy people....but it happens. Taxpayers need to be protected and the government should come up with some sort of plan that forces companies to protect their employees from despicable CEOs and if that means legislation that restricts what a CEO can walk away with after wrecking a company....so be it.

On the issue of charging victims for rape exams--no victim should have to pay. If police departments are being overrun by false claims, I don't get why the person filing the false reprt should not be made to pay a fine for lying in the first place and to reimburse the department for the cost of the medical exam. It seems to me that having laws to that effect would be more of a deterrent than making a victim pay because all that does is deter legitimate victims from filing reports. First the person is victimized by the rapist then the humiliation of an exam for which she has to pay herself. There is no rationale for that period.

I may be stumped on this because I'm trying to see how saying some Democrats see sending the country another trillion dollars in debt to achieve political gain measures up against some Republicans hoping to gain politically from racist Democrats.

I can kind of see how a Democrat might we've been dealt this hand.....let's try to fix it and in the process let's take advantage of the fact that it furthers our case.

I can even see some Republicans rationalizing that they didn't create the racist Democrat and if racists Democrats vote for our candidate then so be it....but if they actually reach out and try to appeal to any racists in order to win.....I think it's way too lenient to say it's not right.

A rape kit is an investigative tool. It is not medical treatment. I guess if a poor woman in Alaska can not afford the cost of the emergency room and the investigation, her rape is not a crime.

Wales, I'm not understanding what you are arguing, although I probably agree with you. However, no rock stars are playing at Obama/Biden events. The people show up for the candidates. It's not like a McCain event where Robert Duval introduces the candidates.

I don't know if this will help but I was responding to one of Casey's posts that essentially applauded Palin for attracting a crowd of 60,000 who Casey said was there to hear the Republican stance, while taking a jab at Obama's acceptance speech because music was provided. Casey basically stated that the Republicans were there to hear the issues while the Democrats may have been there for the music.

I did not intend to make a big deal about Palin's crowd until you posted a comment mocking my enjoyment. You said I was swaying from the issues and it almost made you laugh.

I feel that I should be able to jab Obama at any chance I see fit. Again, Wales, please do not try to point out my personal approach to commenting as if it is at your discrestion as to what I can or can't do.

I do not attempt to pick apart the manner in which you comment, only the points and opinions that you convey. I try to leave personal habits out of the conversation.

My point was that both parties take and accept any positive advantage that comes their way...it matters not if it is good or bad for the country as a whole...

Market decaying...good for Democrats in this election...bad for the country...

Racism in this election...good for Republicans...bad for the country..

Hope this clears up my intended message...

Jess, I think it is a mistake on many levels for John McCain to reach out to Democrats for cabinet positions just so he can appear to be independent and non-partisan. I'm glad you agree that Andrew Cuomo would be bad for the McCain administration... we agree on that. He did a lousy job before and he'd do a lousy job then... he is, in many ways, represents atypical liberal fiscal policies. I would condemn McCain's choice to select him for any position.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that McCain's judgement is impaired, however. Like all politicians, he states things for political purposes -- to impress Democrats who he thinks may be on the fence about Obama. To suggest McCain's judgement is poor based on this is silly... it would also suggest that President Clinton had poor judgement and I would disagree with that. Policywise, I would say that Clinton's selection of Cuomo was a mistake (obviously) but isn't representative of every decision the man ever made while in office.

I think the VP choice of Sarah Palin was an excellent choice. She has invigorated the McCain ticket and rallied the party. Let me be clear about this... should McCain lose the election, he will have only himself to blame. Sarah Palin has nothing to do with the mistakes McCain has made the past week... John McCain and John McCain alone is responsible for the plethora of negative ads put forth by his campaign and any gaffes while attempting to communicate his policy to the public.

Sarah Palin hasn't said or done anything worse than any other candidate running... For every perceived silly thing you might take issue with, I can offer two more ridiculous things Joe Biden has said.

I think you may have skipped over a few of my posts. I was not aware that a rape kit was used solely for a law enforcement investigation. I thought it was a medical treatment. I have apologized and confirmed my stance against rape victims having to pay for the investigation of the crime commited against them..

This is what I find offensive:

We all can pay for Wall Street's and the Congress horrible management of the financial institutions......but it's wrong to pay for health care for many Amercians and rape kits for rape victims.

Really? Do I have it right now?

Sounds like to me what may have been said was the Democrats were there for everything else BUT hearing what Obama had to say.

You see, he's such a rock star that you can't take him seriously.

But you CAN take McCain seriously.....especially since "The fundementals of our economy are strong".

You volunteering?

    • Thank you Paul! Recently, I have been reading the stories from 1965....the kidnapping of little Jessie by her real parents, the trial that was held, dr Noel and Brooke...and Meg.... 60 years now!!!! I have been searching the 1965 Thanksgiving episode that I think it exists in Youtube, without any luck....does anyone know if this episode exists or it is simple a trick of my mind...it must be so powerful see it!!! The other scene from 1965 is Steve and Audrey's wedding in February 1965!  I wish we can see these classic episodes in streaming one day ... Most of these actors must be dead, I hope we as fans don't die meanwhile we are waiting for this day!
    • Episode 71: they formally introduce themselves by the pool (he didn’t know who she was in Ep.60)  Episode 136: first kiss
    • I am happy that Max (Branning) is back and that might get me back to watch the show again. I am happy that Bernie and Felix are leaving, because both are such boring characters to me. As for Ben being back.. I used to like him. But reading all that he's done in between me liking him and today makes me really dislike the character and I have no desire in seeing him unless he will be seen as a bad guy that he is on the show, which will not happen.
    • Thanks @kalbir Looks like once the Corringtons left, Search struggled. National City Star-News, Volume 104, Number 18, 2 March 1986 Domini Blythe finds soap acting quite challenging By Nancy M. Reichardt English-born actress Domini Blythe Is a veteran of the finest classical theater companies In England, Canada and the United States, but her American television debut came only five short months ago when she accepted the role of Estelle Kendall on the NBC soap "Search for Tomorrow." Miss Blythe Joined the Royal Shakespeare Company In England when she was 18 years old. She did several films. Including "Tutankamun,” which was filmed In Egypt, then moved to Canada, where she eventually became a member of Canada’s Stratford Festival Company. Miss Blythe decided to seek work In the United States after she embarked upon an American teaching tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company. "After working between England and Canada for several years and expanding a lot of energy trying to keep a career going in both countries, it suddenly seemed to make much more sense to work li North America,” says Miss Blythe. "I landed a one-day role on 'Search for Tomorrow,”' she remembers “The feedback on that role was very good, and the producers said that they’d find a role for me, and the did with the role of Estelle. Asked why she agree to do a sopa opera role after her extensive credits I classical theater, she replied, "It seemed to me that this was the very best thing one could do upon coming here. Doing a soap provides a relatively stable Income with terrific exposure. "There's a challenge I playing a part that has no beginning and no end. It's so unlike anything else I’v ever done. I love the idea that a soap is a collaborative effort between you as an actor and the writer: which Is completely unlike performing the works of Shakespeare or any other  playwright who's dead." Miss Blythe describe Estelle as a “survivor'' an adds that she’s please that Estelle Is "a strong woman who can deal easily In a man’s world while she also has a very vulnerable side. "I like the fact that Estelle Is neither all good nor all bad like all hums beings,” Miss Blythe say "I find the Intricacies of the character interesting. Rather than dealing with murders, I'd prefer to deal with a corporate struggle. That’s something that can relate to more easily.

    • Desert Sun, Volume 43, Number 248, 23 May 1970 Soap Opera Queen A Real Homebody HOLLYWOOD (UP!)—Denise Alexander is unknown to nighttime-only television viewers but she is one of the queens of soap opera in her role of Susan Martin on the daily “Days of Our Lives’’ strip. The auburn haired beauty moved here from New York 12 years ago and into a Beverly Hills apartment she has furnished with antiques from a shop she opened and later closed. Her potpourri antique store was a modified success. Modified because Denise “tried to find good homes’’ for her merchandise. As a result many an ancient chair or table rests in her home, some with price tags still on them. A regular with “Days of Our Lives” for four years, Denise leaves her four-room diggings—bedroom, kitchen, dining room and living room—at 6: .10 a.m. every day for morning rehearsals at NBC. At noon the show is taped and by 1 p.m. the cast runs through the next day’s episode of the soap opera. “We can’t ad lib because the camera shots depend on word cues,” Denise says. “So we’ve learned to memorize our lines quickly.” Denise’s boy friend is actor David Hartman who stars in “The Bold Ones” for television. They are together almost every evening. Most often David takes Denise to dinner, and then perhaps a movie. Other evenings Denise broils steaks in her apartment for her “fella,” as she calls him. At the moment they haven’t any marriage plans. The actress prefers gourmet dishes and few chefs prepare veal cordon bleu better than she. Her swiss steak with wine sauce is also a treat which Hartman relishes. No Discotheques Their social life revolves around small dinner parties with friends and dancing at secluded, romantic places. They abhore discotheques. Weekends for the couple are devoted to tennis, sailing and restful days at the beach sunning and surfing. Then again, Hartman may stop by ,and the two will spend the day reading, with a little background music. Denise opened her door one day and an enormous white cat walked in, hopped onto a chair and staked a claim. She named the intruder “Cat." and he has been a member of her household ever since. Unlike the Sue Martin she portrays on the show, Denise is very much with it. Sue wears a conservative wardrobe. Denis prefers sophisticated, chic outfits from boutiques. She dislikes shopping but loves clothes. The problem is solved by periodic shopping sprees during which she purchases enough outfits to see her through for six months or more. When she feels out of style, back she goes to the smart shops.
    • Like why? That is one character who needed to be retired for decades. Yes, plural. There is literally nowhere else you can take this character anytime soon.  This show really needs to grow a pair and start killing off certain characters. And Martin wasn't one of them.  *coughs* Anyone with the last name Mitchell *coughs*  It's time.

    • I watched some of Friday's show. It was sweet to see Julie celebrate her wedding anniversary to Doug (their second - kudos to the writing team for remembering). Those moments with Julie are always so moving to me because you can tell they are straight from Susan's heart.  I know Patsy Pease hasn't been on DAYS in 15 years, but I still miss Kim in weeks that are so important for the Bradys and their history on the show. Michael Dietz was always a very likeable presence onscreen, even if he was never the greatest actor. That hasn't changed.  I was impressed with how well put together the montage was of John's various identities/memories. A number of those stories were ludicrous, and several of them never should have existed, but the way this was all crafted you could see just what a unique character all those parts made John...and how much Drake played the material as best he could, no matter what. The mirror scene was a great inclusion as that really wrapped everything of John together - viewers never truly knew who he was, nor did the people in Salem, but it didn't matter, as everyone loved him anyway.
