To appear on this list, the character must have appeared in at least ten episodes during the show's run, or be related to a core family.

(remember, this shows numbers for the characters, not the actors that play them)

Sigh...by next year, Roger Howarth will be at number one. Maura's heading for maternity leave, and Michael's appearances will never match Roger's.
That quote is from last year's thread. Apparently Maura's maternity leave didn't stop the writers from giving her heavy storyline. She actually widened the gap between Carly and Paul considerably...

It's shocking how many episodes Ellen Dolan appears in, yet they don't give her a damn thing to do! What a waste of cash and talent!

I dunno... Hogan always said he preferred using Ellen Dolan for police stuff, and I have to admit that's one of the few areas I agree with Hogan. I don't really like Dolan as a lead actress, yet I understand the character is important and an integral part of the ensemble. Plus, after the Doc Reese storyline, I'm sooo done with Margo as a lead character.

As usual, I'm a lousy prognosticator. :o But, this is the first year (since RH took over the role of Paul in mid-2003) that Michael has beaten Roger in total eppys. Had this not been Roger's contract year, who knows what would have happened. (I would have gladly sat through more Paul scenes, if Katie's airtime could have been reduced.)

What's insane are Gwen's and Meg's numbers in the past three years.

^^^I agree PJ that Roger's contract negotiations and the fact he almost left reduced his airtime this year. The show may also be getting tired of the will he or won't he stay routine.

It's interesting to see how Katie's airtime jumped once JP took over as head writer.

Perhaps you never saw her play Margo's rape or Casey's right to die story. Foolish writing does not equal useless actors. Margo wasn't just a police woman until Hogan made her that way, and it's embarrassing to know that a character with rich family history could be reduced to one purpose by scribes or fans.

No I did.... Personally I just preferred Hillary B. Smith as Margo. I have simply never accepted Ellen Dolan in the role, and I was happy when Hogan confined her to the "just the cop" role.

Interesting is one word for it. My choice would be appalling. Hopefully a happy, sexed up Katie is a backburnered Katie this year. Please God. Pretty please keep her out of Carjack's orbit.

LOL well I certainly thought of plenty of other words but figured I'd just get a lot of **** in place of the word  Even if we still have to see Katie, please oh please get her out of the CarJack orbit! Even when MP talks about what he wants for Jack in 2008 I notice none of it mentions Katie! ;)
