Members DevotedToAMC
Okay so I think most, if not, all of us here are not pleased with B&E especially after reading a spoiler about Spike (check it out in the spoiler section), so if AMC was to get a new head writer or writers, who would you want it to be? I say promote from within and give the position to Jeff Beldner. He knows the show's history, has been there for a long time, and actually knows what he is doing. I say go for Jeff! Members Khan
Patrick Mulcahey. Yes, I know it won't happen, especially with Frons still in charge. But a boy can still dream, can't he, lol?
Members ClassicAMCDays
I would not mind seeing a Jeff Beldner/Michelle Patrick co-headwriting team. Those two combined, have the most history with the show, and could, IMO be great. Add Lorraine Broderick as an Associate Headwriter, and I would be happy. Members Y&RWorldTurner
AMC doesn't just need a new HW, it needs a new EP, as well as a brand new writing staff (of course keeping those who've been there longer than 7 years)! This show needs to clean house from top to bottom.
Members Southofnowhere
If Mctavish has another crazy storyline on her laptop ,i say bring her on just long enough for the ratings to go up and replace her. Unlike B&E , Mctavish always raises the ratings when she first comes on board. If it's about bringing up the ratings let Mctavish be HW for 6 months then replace her. Members Faulkner
Yikes, what if she writes another "un-abortion" or Satin Slayer/"poisoned peanut pancakes"? The show has yet to recover from some of her "crazy" ideas.
Members Kubla Khan
When she came back in 2003, the ratings were pretty meh. It wasn't until early Spring 2004 (with the baby switch) that AMC started kicking butt in the ratings. I believe there were times when AMC was #2 in HH and #1 in the 18-49 demo. (IIRC, of course). No wonder it took Frons so long to get rid of her. She can do good for ratings, sometimes. I would agree with the Beldner recommendation. He's a wonderful storyteller, and you know who came up with most of the story ideas when Lorraine Broderick was writing the show from 1995-97? Beldner. As a gay male, he came up with the Michael/Kevin storylines. He also suggested bringing back Skye, Liza, and Marian to the show. The plane crash that killed Maria was also his idea. (P.S. Stephen Demorest and Hal Corley get a lot of credit for helping Hogan out at ATWT, but I bet Jeff Beldner played a BIG hand. He is a HW's best ally). Members Y&RWorldTurner
Is Felicia Minei Behr too deep into her retirement to come back to AMC and help save the show?
Administrator Toups Posted November 30, 2007 Administrator Share Posted November 30, 2007 Yeah, they do! LOL B&E are a curse (LOV, City, PC). As much as I like JHC, I have to agree. It's time for her to go. She's cleary burnt out. I'm not to sure here. I like Walsh, Demorest, Beall, Patrick, Beldner. For Head Writers, I'd choose Michelle Patrick & Kay Alden. Members DevotedToAMC
Yep I agree about a new EP. Carruthers needs to go...let's get Francesca James to return as the EP or Wendy Riche. After all, Riche did win GH five Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series and, under her and Claire Labine, the show was at its best and did not rely too much on action adventure to drive the story (e.g. GH in the 80s)
Members DevotedToAMC
Yep they reached #2 at the conclusion of the baby switch (or when it was revealed...I guess conclusion would technically be February/05) and, for most of the babyswitch, they maintained ratings. Members Y&RWorldTurner
Toupsy, I agree that AMC needs a new HW, but that's not the only thing it needs. LOL! B&E need to retire, because they are soap-writing poison. I'd keep Walsh, Demorest, Beall, Patrick too, but the rest need to go!
Members ClassicAMCDays
^Y&R I agree with you. AMC needs a new EP. And I've always thought Shaughnessy could work wonders with the show, like he did w/ Y&R.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I think Chris Goutman should leave ATWT and come to AMC. He's clearly burnt out at ATWT, and since he worked a good decade on AMC as a director, I'm sure he'd be perfect, just as long as he doesn't rehire Jean Passanante of course.
