Lauren Koslow has loads of screen presence, something that's not often found in daytime, this day and age. Kate has been a ruined character, but Koslow acts the hell out of any script she's dealt.

I've never been a huge fan of Deidre Hall or Marelana. To me, Hall is simply an average actress, who does her best work with great material. To me, she's never able to rise above crappy material and its shown over the past few years. This is just my opinion of course, I know some like to think of her as some immortal figure.

Change what you said Y&R about the differences in the two and you've got my view.

I find Kate to be a grating character, just everything. But god, I LOVED Deb Adair's Kate, even when I found her annoying. DA was just such an energy onscreen. And I used to enjoy Kate's friendship with Marlena before they had Kate trying to ruin both Marlena's daughters behind her back (Marlena still doesn't know about the death row thing).

^Yeah, I've never gotten why Marlena is so civil towards Kate. The two should never appear to be anything close to friends. One thing with the writing for Marlena that I hate is that they don't appear to give her any real friends. Remember when Maggie and Laura were close friends with Marlena? What happened to that? Why wasn't Maggie ever there to comfort Marlena, when John was in his come earlier in the year? I know we saw her at John's funeral, but we haven't seen Marleana and Maggie interact as friends in years.

Eh, the best Mar friend ever (after her best best friend which is John) is still Eugene to me. No one compares.

I hate that Marlena's doesn't know like half of the crap she's done to Sami or to Belle. I mean, she wanted to go after Sami at the Lumi wedding and was stopped, and that was for one thing. Imagine if she knew it all?

And I do sort of feel bad for LK because she's stuck with one of the worst, most one dimensional and boring characters on TV. She never needs to do lines, she'll just repeat what she learned ten years ago, it's the same crap over and over.

Marlena and Kate should be bitter rivals. Although Marlena doesn't know everything, she knows enough about how Kate has treated Sami and Belle, to despise her. The only thing that allows me to excuse it, is to remember that Marlena was Kate's doctor all of those years ago, and maybe she knows enough about Kate's past history, that she can forgive it

    • I don't mind her in the role. At all.
    • Love this from the AP article on BTG: For years, Veronica Redd played Mamie Johnson — Drucilla’s aunt — on “The Young and the Restless.” When she tuned into the premiere of “Beyond the Gates,” what she saw got her attention, but what she heard blew her away. “I was not prepared,” laughs Redd. It begins with a women driving a Mercedes-Benz through the gates of an exclusive country club. The Emotions’ “Best of My Love” is playing — something that told Redd the production value was top notch. Daytime isn’t usually Redd’s favorite genre even though she acknowledges “it’s paid the bills for many decades.” “Beyond the Gates,” though, has earned a spot in Redd’s TV time. “They got me hooked,” she says. -
    • It's a shame because I like the actress, but she was miscast. I'd say they should pull a DAYS and put her in another role.
    • Theoretically, I would agree, but it seems like Paul Avila Mayer and Stephanie Braxton did such a number on Hogan, Sunny and Liza that reuniting Hogan and Sunny would've been a toxic situation.
    • She painfully sticks out, it’s awful. I can’t believe the producers don’t see this.
    • Deidre Hall did really well in that last scene hearing about them closing in on John. John's funeral is going to be tough to watch.
    • And this is why I use a different video hosting site. It's interesting to me that on IG Sony only hits current not vintage. Also there's no penalty as long as you delete.
    • Are we sure we're not going to go down a Natalia Grace storyline here?

    • Probably. Stephanie is still so underdeveloped as a character to me.  She jumps from romance to romance and I feel like she takes on the persona and interests of the man she is with at the moment.  I don't really know her interests or personality.  And Stephanie certainly gets enough airtime to explore more than sex with Alex. I know she was interacting with Kayla today, but a lot of the dialogue was "Alex asked", "Alex thinks..", "Alex is now free so I have to go" lol.  What do you think about anything, Stephanie?
    • May 2025:   New Pope, Leo XIV is chosen in Rome, while the Italian Open tennis tournament is happening in Rome. The headline is "Sinner meets the Pope"  or  "Pope meets Sinner". LOL, this is tennis player Jannik Sinner. He met with Pope Leo and gave him a tennis racket. Leo plays tennis himself and is a tennis fan. (He is also a Chicago Cubs baseball fan).    https://apnews.com/article/pope-leo-jannik-sinner-tennis-italian-open-9305b5f2957ac15c7a405f836371ec1e The top-ranked tennis player visited the new pope on Wednesday, gave him a tennis racket and offered to play, during an off day for Sinner at the Italian Open. Leo, the first American pope, is an avid tennis player and fan and had said earlier this week that he would be up for a charity match when it was suggested by a journalist. But at the time, Leo joked “we can’t invite Sinner,” an apparent reference to the English meaning of Sinner’s last name. By Wednesday, all seemed forgotten. “It’s an honor,” Sinner said in Italian as he and his parents arrived in a reception room of the Vatican’s auditorium. Holding one of his rackets and giving Leo another and a ball, the three-time Grand Slam champion suggested a quick volley. But the pope looked around at the antiques and said, “Better not.” Leo, a 69-year-old from Chicago, then appeared to joke about his white cassock and its appropriateness for Wimbledon, perhaps a reference to the All England Club’s all-white clothing rule.
