GH: Night Shift Episode 10 Discussion

We finally saw Guza's signature shootout. I was wondering how long it would take for that to show up on NS. Of course Jason kills 5 men and saves the day

This Barret mystery was a big bust. I thought we were finally going to go somewhere with it but they dont show her face, dont have her interact with any of the characters and she just leaves.

Leyla and Regina graduated right in the middle of the night shift? Its like 3-7AM. WTH?

WTF kind of ending is that? Theres a hit and run victim and Pat tries to stop Robin from seeing her. Its a woman that looks like Robin on the operating table and she opens her eyes. I wonder if this means the whole season was a dream. If so what a waste

Well, I didn't get it at all the Robin on the gurney deal. I guess I'm slow because I didn't get the dramatic effect other than out of the blue and shock w/no substance to it so I didn't connect the dots. Yeah I thought the Barrett was a missed opportunity.

I don't understand why they repeatedly in press releases said it was to be a stand-alone drama separate from GH but storylines and NS characters are turning up on GH. I did like instructed to watch NS in its context; however now it can't be a dream since Friday Leo was recuperating from being shot on GH. I don't mind it at all because I like the hot Drs Leo and Andy just saying what I was told at the onset that it is to be viewed separately from GH. When NS ended I left everything there. This was suppose to be a self-contained 13 week mini-series loosely based on the some of the characters of GH and new characters. I had problems w/NS in that I didn't see enough of the NS characters eg Andy Archer, Leo, Regina, Cody/Lainey. Way too much Spinelli I like him but felt since he had so much airtime on GH why do the same w/NS. ABC has a bad habit over exposing their characters to the point I get sick of them on the screen. I didn't understand why they felt it necessary to leave Robin/Patrick in angst while he's still locking lips with Leyla this was not to be a GH deal. I trained myself to look at NS as fanfiction of GH then they flip the script.

There were a lot of good vignettes on the show. Can't say I am surprised at the shoot em up bang bang playing out at the final eppy. I kinda figured Jr. would resort to his old formula; and his fascination with the bang bang, he shot me down. I thought it was a nice touch to have Jase picked up in a limo by Sonny.

I thought w/the exception of it became a lot about Leyla/ Patrick romance instead of Patrick/Robin it was overall pretty good. It seemed to me that this Leyla character hijacked Robin/Patrick storyline. Can't say I'm surprised she seems to be their "IT" girl for the moment. But this was a costly error since their ratings tanked.

I liked Robin kicking Dr. Dummy to the curb and going on about her business as showing a character not defined by a pairing driven storyline since that is what soaps have become. Yes, from "professional scribers" it could have been better but I enjoyed a lot of the characters and will miss them. Especially the hottie Drs. Andy and Leo. It left me wondering why everyone seemed to be showing up except Regina. Why didn't she get a contract too? Jolene/Leyla actresses did. .

The season finale was so ridiculously flawed it's not even funny. It was treated like bad fanfiction. First of all, why build up Jolene all this time as this horrible villain and then not show a confrontation with ANYONE? The shootout was so ridiculous, too. Sure, it didn't involve the mob but couldn't they have gone thirteen episodes without turning Jason into the Terminator? We got a minor conclusion to the Kelly/Andy story, but nothing of note to Cody/Lainey. Regina and Leyla graduated in the middle of their shift? SERIOUSLY? Brenda (and I am now sure it's Brenda because of the way they had her walk and dress at the end) still has not been seen or resolved. The worst part, though, was the last scene. Why the hell would Robin look down and see herself? Was the Night Shift all just a dream? Is this whole series supposed to be Robin on the operating table? The only good part about the finale was the end of the Toussaint story.

I didn't understand the last scene either. I did like Jason holding onto Robin though, she reminded me of when she was a little kid on GH. Surprised about all the shooting, but I guess we are still in PC and that is what happens in PC. I like Kelly and her doc, hope they get to go on GH. Agree, Jolene was kind of anti climatic. I am getting a little tired of Spinelli, always turning up everywhere, and during those shootout scenes he was so in the way. I think they try and portray Spin and Jason having this great raport, but I don't think it works all the time. LOL at Epifany telling him to get lost.

Regina should have gottne a contract to come to GH. She was by far the most intersting char on NS and the actress is really good. I like Leyla, so im glad shes now on GH.

everyone else, aside from Kelly Dr Winters, who came from GH, i couldnt care less about.

I hope that season on NS its still moslt about the hospital - with nothing stupid like jason and spin always being there. use this time for dr kelly, Dr Winters, Liz... hells even show Maxie & lulu as candy stripers. Maybe use these people named Monica and Bobbie?

How about this: No GH: NS characters crossing over to GH. There are far too GH characters that should return or be given stories: Mac, Gail, Robert, Bobbie, Lee, Lucas, Celia, Larry, Arielle, Monica, Edward, Ned, Jenny, Paul Hornsby Jr., Alice, Jimmy Lee, Blackie, Lesley, Amy, Dara, Lucy, Kevin, and Serena.

    • I can't imagine it was a shock to any of the actors, especially one so industry savy as Zimmer. However, it must have been like all of us, watching a loved one fading away and knowing it was going to happen but still being shocked when it does. Wheeler is to blame for waiting so long for that Hail Mary pass to be thrown. Its funny but this was the time that the writing seem to be getting better so someone fixed that, but why didnt it happen sooner? Again, at least the GL I saw go off the air, despite looking like it was filmed in my backyard, was the GL I knew with the right characters coming back and the right things happening. Unlike ATWT.....
    • This is a guess, but Kat is going to mess around and help get Leslie off on a technicality. She is too determined to go around the law. Sharon is so entertaining. The way she acted like Anita was about to trip her down or something at the end was hilarious. The silence from Tracy and Sharon when Anita called them out for not backing Barbara out was telling. They can't defend themselves because they were just as hungry for success as Anita was.
    • I am sure it was not what JJ thought was going to happen with Lucky or Lucky/Liz and I don't think JJ will ever be back.  That was just an awful return and his return in 2010 wasn't anything great lol.

    • I don't think this is anything but a pause. I think there's a lot more of Liz/Lucky coming up ahead. Think of it as a classic fakeout.  Edit to ADD: Well, crap. Ignore me. Outta there.
    • Now she used to be on the Directing rotation, so is this when she was off of it for awhile & now is back?

    • A Day Off from the Drama Felt Like a Breath of Fresh Air Honestly, I didn’t mind the change of pace today. The episode had a lighter tone, and it was refreshing—like coming up for air after all the intensity lately.  But, did anyone else notice that Bo's hospital room is larger than Marlena's living room? Chad and Leo: A Surprisingly Enjoyable Pairing I actually enjoy Leo in scenes with Chad. It's a shame Chad hasn't been given more lighthearted material before—he’s much funnier than I expected. At least we were spared the referenced Ari/Leo interaction (dodged that bullet). Gabi’s Hair: A Curl Too Far Let’s talk about Gabi’s hair. Those curtain curly-q bangs? Ridiculous. Not only unattractive but completely impractical. And if she doesn’t like living with Leo, then… move out. Yes, it’s Rafe’s house, but she’s the CEO and titular head of GabiChic. If Chanel and Johnny can afford rent, I’m sure Gabi could swing Li Shin’s old place (they've probably painted since Gabi found him dead, and Melinda was held hostage there). Rafe and the FBI: Why Though? I still don’t understand the narrative function of Rafe suddenly working for the FBI—unless it’s to explain why he’s perpetually off-screen. Side note: Has anyone told Elon’s team that the Bureau is hiring middle-aged men who talk to stuffed animals and are apparently set to retire with full pensions in less than a decade? Doug3 and the Mystery of the Necklace Now, Doug3 is suddenly concerned about the age of consent? Not touching that. Also—whatever happened to his friendship with Sofia? And how did he manage to find a loan shark when he only hangs out with high school girls?  How much could he have borrowed?  He changed his name and moved out of town, so he must owe enough for the loan shark to hire repo men to find him and photograph underage women. But the real head-scratcher: why is he asking Leo who bought the necklace? It’s Melinda. He knows it’s Melinda. Was this filmed out of order? Or did she fence it? I’m confused. Gwen Mention #1 (And we all know what happens when you say her name three times…) Cat: The Kookiness Has Worn Thin I’ve tried. Really. But I don’t like Cat. I don’t like her secret. I don’t like that she’s never at work covering Marlena’s phones. I don’t like her brand of kooky. I don’t like that she stopped blow-drying her hair. Honestly, I never invested much in her character because I figured she’d be gone by now. But now? I just don’t like her.
    • I'm actually stunned at the writing for Liz and Lucky today. It feels like a writing team that's out to make JJ look as bad as possible -- immature, irresponsible, and ridiculous. He comes off as a complete loser.
