This is a really interesting thread. I'd never in a milion years think that there was THIS much diversity when it comes to timeslots and Daytime.

As for me I live in Raleigh, NC and heres how they appear....

CBS Daytime

The Bold & The Beautiful: 1:30PM

As The World Turns: 2:00PM

Guiding Light: 3:00PM

The Young & The Restless: 4:00PM

ABC Daytime

All My Children: 1:00PM

One Life to Life: 2:00PM

General Hospital: 3:00PM

NBC Daytime

Days of Our Lives: 1:00PM

It works out pretty well for me since I watch soaps without being torn between two shows from 2 all the way to 5PM. Once in a while I'm torn between whether to watch OLTL instead of ATWT.

Interesting thread...

I wonder -in how many markets does GL air at 9 or 10 am and how much it affects the overall ratings?

How does the show do in that slot?

The decision to move the show was because the ratings at 3 were weak and adversely affected the local stations 4 pm ratings.

Does this mean that where the show airs at 3 it does fairly well?

It would be good to see some local ratings.

Also, how many markets don't air GL (or other soaps )at all?

Paul, I can answer some of your questions. First, although I don't know the exact number of CBS stations that air GL in the morning, I do know that the soap airs in the morning in most of biggest media markets in the country, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Philadelphia. In fact, I firmly believe that GL's current poor ratings are largely the result of this. (I would guess that if GL aired in the afternoon on every single CBS station, its rating would be at least .3 points higher than it is now.)

Secondly, I do know that the Sacramento CBS station does not even air GL at all.

Additionally, I am guessing that GL has historically done better in markets where it still airs in the afternoon. I remember reading (on a message board) that GL's strongest region of the country is the South, and its weakest region is the Northeast.

Here is the daytime schedule on the New York City stations:

Channel 2, WCBS:

10:00A.M. to 11:00 A.M.--GL

11:00A.M. to 12:00P.M.--TPIR

12:30P.M. to 1:30P.M.--Y&R

1:30P.M. to 2:00P.M.--B&B

2:00P.M. to 3:00P.M.--ATWT

(Note that WCBS has aired GL at 10:00 A.M. ever since circa 1996 or 97. Prior to that, it aired at 3:00 P.M.)

Channel 4, WNBC:

2:00P.M. to 3:00P.M.--DOOL

(Note that WNBC just moved DOOL's timeslot as of September 2007. Previously, it had aired at 1:00P.M.)

Channel 7, WABC:

11:00A.M. to 12:00P.M.--The View

1:00P.M. to 2:00P.M.--AMC

2:00P.M. to 3:00P.M.--OLTL

3:00P.M. to 4:00P.M.--GH

As a final note, I think that it is especially shameful that WCBS and WNBC air GL and DOOL (respectively) at times that are different from their assigned timeslots given that both stations are not affiliates. Rather, these two stations are completely owned and operated by their respective networks.
