PSNS: Week of Sept 17

I've watched the Monday and Tuesday episodes so far.

Nothing much has changed, but the show feels less emotional? Isolated? I can't put my finger on what the difference is...

Tabitha and Kay's storyline - really boring, imo

Are we really supposed to believe that Esme and Fox were/are each other's true love within several hours of knowing each other? It's coming across as somewhat fake. Erin Cardillo's doing fine

Ben Masters'/Julian's reaction to Fox's death was a bit too subdued. Maybe the director and Ben were aiming for subtlety and shock, but it felt lacking

Kim Johnston Ulrich did a really good job with Ivy's reaction to Fox's death. It's good seeing Ivy frontburner again.

Sheridan/Mckenzie and Spike/Christopher work well together. I want them to hook up sexually and to have a love-hate relationship. Mckenzie's doing a good job. This is the best work I've seen her do. She's not over-the-top.

Oy, the brain chip storyline is really stupid. Pretty is annoying, and I hate how she changes her mind every 10 seconds. Write her off or give her another storyline. Alistair's return has been a waste, imo. This is ridiculous. John Reilly is playing Alistair well, but Alistair has been reduced to an extremely useless character.

Bless the performers because they are making this storyline work more than it deserves to. I actually bought Fancy's/Emily's groggy voice and vacant/slow manner because she's in a daze. I especially like the "grovely" "deep" voice that she's using to show Fancy's transition, and her angry scenes are believable. The slap she gave Luis was fabulous. The tics/twitches are so dumb but add a much needed comedic element to the scenes.

Liza is really selling the Gwen/Ethan/Theresa storyline. Liza has been wonderful since she's returned and dare I say that she and Gwen are actually better in this storyline than Lindsay and Theresa? Liza's made comments in the recent blog about being frustrated with the writing for Gwen, but she's making this storyline work. Eric's doing a good job playing happy and clueless. Lindsay is fine, but she's not being given much to work with. She's repeating the same lines and standing there.

Nothing exciting...

I think the point to Fox and Esme was for Esme to find out what truly love is about. I agree with you though this fake and stupid. But sicne I watched the Julian/Esme/Viki clips on Monday (thats all watched anyways) I can tell the point was for Esme to be more civil and to feel what love is.

I only saw the NBC clip of Ivy learning about Fox and not all the scenes. Wish I saw that and wish I saw the incest freak today drving his mother mad. Other than that the hell with everything else.

I totally love the new background music and new direction of the music (it's constantly being played except for a few seconds here and there).

The Alistair/Sheridan scenes were really good. I love seeing Sheridan stand up to her father and she's not backing down from him. The previews of their scenes for Monday look excellent as well!

I'm so glad Erin Cardillo (Esme) is on contract. She's fantastic.

I didn't think I'd like the mind control storyline, but it's actually fun to see Fancy go ballistic on Luis. That slap was so funny. Emily Harper is doing a wonderful job playing various emotional within a second of each other.

What a great week!!!

I've preferred the latter half of the week, as these eps have had more movement.

I've really loved the E/T/G scenes this week. From Theresa and Pilar standing in shock, to Little Ethan mentioning that Gwen's baby looks just like him. Now, *this* is the right time for the truth to finally come out - I haven't completely seen Thursday's yet, so not sure how it ends.

Loved Sheridan standing up to Evil-Al. And loved the Coo-Coo clock sound during Sheridan's rantings to Spike.

I felt for Ivy and Esme, even though I don't buy the marathon love story - Erin Cardillo is really selling it. Julian's emotionless reaction to Fox's death was jarring and weired.

Don't like Vincent playing mind games with Eve. (Probably 'cause I've seen enough of these kinds of stories lately to last a lifetime).

I still don't give a damn about Fancy's mind control. The Pretty/Alistair alliance is weak. Her constant flipping from one thing to the other is annoying. And I still don't get Al's motives for wanting to control his granddaughter. Horrible storyline IMO.

I did wonder if the show would've changed much when it returned, but it hasn't - except for the improved incidental music. Maybe any changes will filter through gradually as the months go by.

yay for torrents! The show is up and I saw the week's worth of shows

This Esme/Fox thing is too WTF. She loved him adn wanted to spend the rest of her life with him? They were a couple for what like a day or 2?

Why is Theresa so intent on telling Ethan about her son now. Did she forget Alistair's threat?

Cheap21, not even a day its the same day Luis was being exectued. They fell in wuv in 2 hours. Mind you few hours before his death and a mintue jsut before running into Esme, Mr. Fox Crane was still trying to have Spike kill Miguel so he could get Kay back. I think it just a way to change Esme's character .

    • I was going through those episodes from 1984 and early 1985 before they were taken down. Some of the older characters, like Don and even Tom, looked a little out of place, like they were on the wrong show. But the newer characters were fun. It's too bad they lost the character of Melissa. I guess Jennifer took her long-term place on the canvas.

    • The black and white episodes of the show are very special. An atmosphere the color run loses. Dark Shadows was filmed live-on-tape. They could do a retake but it would be very expensive. I think there was a claim that if actors wanted a retake they would curse. There was also a rumor that at one point Joan Bennett accidentally said "Hollywood" instead of "Collinwood" and that necessitated a retake.

    • Loved this IG post from Ambyr about how she and Trisha work together. You can tell these ladies go above and beyond the script, and that they really trust and enjoy working together. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJpJufFPOQ2/?igsh=MXBmcWs0YzIwaXVhNA==

    • It is a shame that more characters didn't go the ATWT-Barbara route and make the ingénue into an antagonist. Sort of like they did with Liza/Hogan/Sunny, less successfully. It is a credit to ATWT's creativity that breathed life in that character for years after she was fighting off bulls in Spain.  But, a character like Liza can only have so many true loves and high jinks on the high seas.  They need another reason to be in the story. Liza's wealth, as well as her acumen to see through fraud, was fertile ground for tons of stories.  But, I feel like the business stories for Liza were always about her being easily overwhelmed, rather than exploring things like her leadership and managerial skills.
    • STFU!! Dante!!! This nonsense of blaming Gio is just ridiculous! Alexis and Lucky are becoming so unlikable. Why are the writers writing these characters so poorly?
    • Keith still comes off younger to me. I thought he wasn't that bad for his first day.
    • To be fair, they were only recently step-siblings.  Their parents married within the past few years.  And, Draper's father Ansel was not coy about the fact that he married Raven's mother, Nadine, for the money. And, Raven's sort of sticking it to April that not only can she have a baby (April has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to carry a child to term), she could also have April's man, if she wanted him.
