Members Soapsuds
Wow...and he is the defending champion. That's a loss of 1000 points.
Members ChitHappens
Wow! That's a lot of points! Ostapenko cracks me up. I believe every word of this because at one event, she was telling her coach Aga sucks and she shouldn't be losing points to her. I love this girl Please register in order to view this content https://twitter.com/AnnaK_4ever/status/896027984406216704
Members Soapsuds
The male players are dropping like flies. It just proves that the tour is too long and they need to drop some of the meaningless tournaments. I've always thought that the end of the season should be after the US Open with the final 8 playing in September. Then end of season until January.
Members ChitHappens
I don't think they should drop the tournies as it helps up and comers gain points to put them in better positions to move forward. The vets need to play in less torunies if they want to remain injury free. They win the big ones anyhow! See: Roger Federer!
Members Soapsuds
Schwartzman vs Haase.....lawd.....no wonder tennis ratings are in the toilet...wonder if 1 person is watching this boring match?...LOL I'm sure ESPN is not happy with this match up either.
Members DramatistDreamer
Especially since Canada decided to slow their courts way down this year. I can only imagine-- this match must be like watching a clay court match on Ambien.
Members Soapsuds
Roger barely beat Ferrer yesterday. The courts look very slow and always have in Canada. Last week in Washington they were too fast. Vika not allowed to leave LA with son....so looks like no US Open for Vika....she is stuck in LA
Members DramatistDreamer
I feel like Canada's courts have usually been mid-tempo range like IW or Miami but this year it's been ridiculously slow, like Rio Games, quicksand slow. In any case, if these U.S. Open series tournaments aren't going to ensure that they are at least close to the speed at the U.S. Open, then what's the point of being part of the "U.S. Open series"?? Members Soapsuds
I think they said last year's US Open courts were pretty slow. Roger would have loved Washington's court. Look at Kevin Anderson's run there...he isn't much of a big server/big hitter yet he was serving big serves out of nowhere. My favorite of the series has been Cincy.
Members DramatistDreamer
Oh yeah, last year's U.S. Open court was unusually slower. God, I hope they don't make it that slow again! I don't think I could take another Kerber/Pliskova final!
Members Soapsuds
That's why Stan won last year...the courts were slow although he was close to losing early. I usually only watch the men's matches unless a woman's match appeals to me. The woman's tour is so boring to watch.
Members DramatistDreamer
To each their own but I don't find women's tennis boring. It's less predictable than the men's for sure, but not boring. The women's french final was more interesting than the men's, JMO.
Members Soapsuds
Well Rafa is boring on clay...so I'll give you that....LOL.....I didn't even see the men's final in the french. Once I knew Rafa had beaten Thiem in the semis...I didnt even tune in.
