I would say anyone is an improvement over Jean P....but whenever I say that, they ARE worse than her LOL

I could see Claire Labine writing ATWT

I doubt P&G would hire after her flop on GL.

If both Richard and Carolyn Culliton are a popular choice to replace Passanante, it would be down to the fact that they know and understand the history of ATWT (a key to writing this particular show properly) and would be far more likely to write for the vets than any of the recent HWs have.

Claire Labine's GL tenure failed apparently because of a clash over the direction of the show with Paul Rauch. Her work on Ryan's Hope and General Hospital suggests she can do excellent work- but I'd still rather have her on B&B, primarily for the fact that she knows how to write a 30-minute show properly.

I'm with those who said that it would be great to have some new blood heading the creative direction of soaps, ironically because I think that would be best for maintaining the traditions of these shows. The problem with bringing new people to head writing positions in the past is that it doesn't seem to be a prerequisite for most shows that you know anything about the show before you take over. From another thread, sounds like it doesn't have to be a prerequisite to watch your own show for a lot of HWs and EPs. That perplexes me.

The problem with the talent around the industry equation is that you get people who might have had a good run on another show but who haven't made it a priority to keep up with Oakdale, or Llanview, or whatever the case may be. I would think that it should be first and foremost a priority to hire someone to be at the helm of your creative direction who knows quite a bit about the history of the show, knows the characters they will be writing for, has respect for those characters, and has enthusiasm for the show. Instead, you get people who have their same ideas and just try to turn the new cast of characters they have into the scenery from the shows they've done in the past.

And it's not the fault of the HWs in partiuclar. It's the fault of hiring. There is a tremendous learning curve if you come into a show like ATWT with such rich history and you don't know much about it. With as much work as it takes to do five hours of television a week, it's not easy to play catchup and really learn that history. That's why I think it should be the single most important characteristic when hiring someone, as I'd much rather have someone talented and new but who knew the history of ATWT immensely than for them to eventually bring another revolving door writer in, even if they've had brilliant moments elsewhere.

I would take either one. A Culliton pairing or Labine. Let's just get the Hack Jean out of there!!!

If ATWT is planning on going off the air, Jean PISS - ANT - e is the person to be writing for the show. I was off for a few days, and I could not believe my eyes.

Meg as the head of worldwide is the biggest joke of all. And slapping the Queen?

There are not alot of words to describe the horribleness that is ATWT. The 2.1 has to be an error - it's way too high!

GARBAGE!

Ohhh Dearr Godd No... :) Me and Ron argue about her all the time. You guys can keep her, or be rid of her, just as long as I dont get her. :D

Haha, okay, fair enough. Although the way these soap writers are bouncing from show to show, you might just end up getting her sooner than you think. :D

^OK, that was just evil. :D

I don't know why you guys argue over the Cullitons, they're infamous for jumping from soap to soap. I wouldn't be surprised if both Richard and Carolyn are on another soap by next year.
