I watched it on Friday (I mean, CBS has the free episodes so why not, I thought) and the one thing that stood out for me was that music. That weird guitar, techno s**t. I kept thinking "are they gonna play that song the entire show" and then I realized it was actually the show music. The stories are one thing, but...that music is not working. I wouldn't mind being on board. I mean, changes are definitely abounding over there I'll say...

I don't know that I want disgruntled viewers watching General Hospital and making it Number one. Since Nightshift s a "success" i'm worried that Guza and Phelps may never be fired. I say we all get together and create a cable access soap that features quality writing. When that becomes a hit maybe all of these soap hacks might get sacked. Now that's SOAP OPERA.

When I saw a few minutes of it the other day, I could tell that someone didn't know the first meaning of writing something that actually gelled together...

Case in point...in the episode, they had Nikki telling David how important it was for her to have Victor's loan; that she needed it....then twenty minutes later, she's talking to David again the same day mind you about how she already had a loan in place because she knew Victor wouldn 't give her his...

Plus too the whole scene with Logan and Brad just stunk...I am surprised the great Don Diamont could even muster up the words to that mess he was saying on screen

I thought of something kind of silly.....

The theme could be "Sack Lynn Marie Latham" which could be abbrivated to "S.L.M.L" and we could create little sacks to put LML's name or picture in.......

Just throwing an idea out there......

Hmmm...I am not sure about this idea. Let me flashback to April 1999.....

Jill Pharren Phelps had been the EP of OLTL for about a year and a half. For the seven months leading up to the fan club event, OLTL had no head writer. JFP was running the show! Many fans were NOT pleased, to say the least! Many felt there were too many Rappaports, Nora had been destroyed, many fan faves had been fired, and many new actors were hired. This was the famous FOJ (Friend of Jill) period. This was not OLTL's finest hour.

Well, a fan of the show, Pilar Ortega, organized a well publicized (in SOD, for instance) boycott of the show that was to take place at, or around the time of a fan club gathering scheduled for April 1999. Many of the supporters of this boycott came to the fan club event. I was there, too.

During the Q&A part of the afternoon, someone mentioned the word "boycott". Robert S. Woods addressed the gathering in attendance. He spoke passionatley about how the proposed boycott was personally hurtful to all of the actors on the show who work hard to entertain us everyday. He spoke about how nobody, from Jill on down was trying to make the show bad. Everyone was doing the best they could. Working as hard as they could night and day to entertian us. He asked us for support. And that meant to keep watching the show. He told us that if we did not like the show to turn it off, but if we wanted to help the OLTL company through the hard times, then we should continue to watch, and rally behind the show.

Well, Mr. Woods brought the house down with applause. The boycotters in attendance were rather shamed faced after that.

The experience I had that afternoon would make me think twice about organizing or participating boycotting a show. I am not here to criticize, judge or advise. I just wanted to share.

A boycott? I am already there! I have not watched this show since mid April, and just when I get the urge to tune back in... I see a spoiler that makes me run as far away from the t.v as possible. I think a mad letter writing campaign should go hand in hand with this.

Great idea WorldTurner!

You also noted that the writing team went without a leader for 7 months. I'm sure that by the third month, all sorts of negative feedback had gotten to the producers and the network. A boycott is usually a scare tactic to get across the message that nothing is working on the show, which wouldn't have to be done if TPTB didn't drag their feet to improve. It's not about putting actors out of work, but many people who could do a better job with a well-run show would be happy to take the time slot a mediocre show is wasting! In most businesses, when things aren't working, heads will roll. Why is it that in soaps, heads take YEARS to roll? Then when the fans would rather see a crappy show cancelled, people say that's bad for daytime! It couldn't be the crap writing or "actors" too short for runway modeling. All of the soaps on the air are damn lucky to have gone on for decades even in their terrible periods. I'm tired of cutting them slack at those times. Let them experience the fate of any primetime series.
