She was a minor character who had very little impact on the show. Why would they focus on bringing her back or recreating that story? If anything, the only thing they'd need to add was Selena Cross and her story.

Does the 1976 TV miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man qualify as a primetime soap opera?  How the 1976-77 TV miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man Book II?

At the time, I thought that, with a little bit more time and retooling, FC could've gone somewhere.  But I think it's clear now that neither CBS nor David Jacobs was really into this show.

No problem. There are a few others too that are up in parts elsewhere. I was surprised as I thought the show only ran two episodes for some reason. Hopefully they'll be put up in full on that channel.

The original premise of a primetime soap set in Santa Fe New Mexico itself unique and interesting could added some flair, but retooling it to be set on a ranch in small town in the Four Corners region and adding in Western elements doomed it, especially with the timeslot the show was given. Someone at CBS should have already been aware of this, given the previous dismal failures of the soapy Knots replacement Angel Falls and then Harts of the West flopping despite a supposed cushy spot between Dr. Quinn and Walker a few years earlier. 
 

Perhaps had they stuck with the Santa Fe premise and aired it on something like a Friday night it might have at least built an  decent audience for a few years. But I suppose that would have also required more investment from someone like Moonves too, yikes.

CBS was in such a state in the 90s that they were basically at this point trying to recapture what had worked 20 years earlier - ie Larry Hagman (Orleans), David Jacobs (Four Corners), the Dallas movies and Knots mini series... they were really lucky that NBC cancelled JAG and they then landed CSI.

CBS primetime was a mess from the decline of Dallas in 1987 until the start of CSI in 2000. That was 13 years, yikes.

Yep, lol.  The success of "Murder, She Wrote" and "60 Minutes" REALLY wallpapered over the network's sagging fortunes.  Unfortunately, once "C.S.I." became this monster hit, CBS morphed into The All Procedurals Network, a creative morass it has yet to emerge from.

Kamar was very beautiful then. If only he and Doug Wert could have translated viewers based on pretty points, but that was not a CBS audience...
