WTF is With the Soap Central Boards?

The admins take micro managing to new heights. Benign posts wind up missing, unrelated topics get merged. I don't even think you can mention YouTube. All discussion of Colleen Zenk Pinter's recent speech impediment was squashed. That's just a sample! Is that site bought off by the networks or something?

stenbeck212, I don't know what their problem is either! You can't seem to discuss much of anything on those boards without it being deleted. They SUCK! I once posted a hypothetical thread concerning the sexualities of two soap CHARACTERS and it was deleted! I thought I was the only one who noticed how ridiculously strict they were.

There are a list of guidelines that you signed when you joined SOC, have you ever read them, everything you are complaining about is in the guidelines.

http://boards.soapcentral.com/faq.php?faq=...uidelines_rules

Posting Youtube clips is called a copyright violation which means the person that runs the site could get fined for having copyrighted material on the site, also your complaint about Barbara's speech not be allowed is because that is talking about Actor's personal lives, how would you like it if 100 threads were started a day talking about your voice problem if you have one.

Yesterday there was an ATWT thread about why Luke would want a straight guy. I wanted to check for responses today, but nope, no more thread!

1. What does posting clips have to do with mentioning the site they're on? It's 2 different things completely, and I should know because my posts were removed simply for typing the name. I didn't link to or embed a single video.

2. Guess what? People are going to talk about anything that impedes an actor's performance. "Personal lives?" I'm sorry, did someone post CZP's social security number while I wasn't looking? If something like that can be so black and white, there's no need to have a discussion at all.

That new thread started as a direct response to how flustered Luke was upon seeing Maddie & Noah in bed. Someone wanted to know why he'd be acting like that over a straight guy. His behavior about Noah thus far has hinted at an attraction, and nothing is spoiled by acknowledging what we can all see. That is not the same as giving away a plot. And even if someone did throw in a spoiler...does the whole thread have to go?

1. Telling people to go to Youtube is the same thing as posting it, you are still directing posters to go to a site that has illegal content on it, which means the person that runs the site could still get fined.

2. Soapcentral is a Message Board directed at discussing the soap opera's not the actors personal lives. Again have you read the guidelines of the site?

Furthermore, have you read the Soapoperanetwork guidelines, because I have a feeling starting threads like this are not allowed. http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/index.php?act=boardrules

They are way to strict and annoying about all their rules.

With the YouTube thing anything copyrighted should be removed by YouTube since that is in their TOS.

They don't allow you to put any link in whatsoever even if you have a news item you are posting WHICH is then not giving credit to the source (proper guidelines when posting a news item is to provide a link when using the internet.

I all but stopped going there a few months ago when they were using the annoying Advertisement were a link would pop up in a post for certain words then a little box would pop up. Which I thought was a little hypocritical because they tell you that you can't post links then there way to get money for the site is to use an advertiser that goes completely against their little rules which confused their users.

Interesting. Most people can ride it out until getting a cease and desist order, with no worries. Even WoST is closing down for reasons other than copyright infringement. The networks obviously don't care about how illegal the content is - you can find a ton of it at the site which will remain nameless. If Soap Central is SOLELY dedicated to discussing soap operas, why are people discussing Spencer Grammar's new show? Isn't a new development in her career part of her personal life? Go on about whether I've read the rules with those school marm tactics if you want, but I've made my point. And other people have felt the way I do too. Message boards are a waste of time as it is. They could at least be fun.

And we haven't even gotten to the hijacked threads yet!

Plus Spencer Grammer was on ATWT for what barely a year so discussing her new little show has nothing to do with ATWT.

As I said YouTube would be soley responsible for copyrighted material. I have never heard of sites that have links by USERS getting sued. How would they track that? I've only heard of CBS getting all in a uproar and asking and then sueing YouTube to remove videos and mostly give up what users were posting this stuff. NBC uses YouTube to post clips and what not from upcoming shows so linking that is not a problem. I like that some think YouTube is completely illegal and everything on it is copyright material.

I hate SOC. They are way too strict.

One time I tried counteracting this one poster's comments about how Tammy & Jonathan shouldn't be together since cousin unions are illegal in half the states by asking, "Since when was the United States made the moral highground of the entire world?" The discussion was closed for being too political. Whatever. It seems like SOC is too afraid of having real, intellectual debates.

    • To their credit, the new writers are clever to stick to current events from the time they were taping, versus trying to predict current events at the time the episode airs.  Case in point, Susan and questionable choice to hop on a cruise two days after her son was shot, and the case remains unsolved, so her remains at risk...

Although cruises around the world are not uncommon for Salem citizens like Julie, it seemed like the type of reference DOOL continues to like dropping into scripts for humor. Also, help me understand the Marlena and EJ interaction.  Didn't they come to a mutual détente earlier in the week?  I felt gaslighted, but I could've just as easily misunderstood Marlena's earlier talk to Belle, and then EJ. And is Bo in Boston (near Ceara) or Greece (where he was transferred after he was shot)?  I bet it is expensive to fly a coma patient transatlantically!
    • It was one of the bigger disappointments that Sarah wasn't part of the book.
    • They clearly loved her offcamera. I wish I could appreciate her work more, but...I don't. Thanks for telling me what Levin said at the end. I still don't think Carney was bad, but I guess he would always see them as not shining compared to Kate.
    • Around 2002, when I would have killed Alan, I'd bring back Amanda, who would have a love/hate relationship with Philip mirroring Alan and Alex, I'd have a proper Alex recast, I might bring back Alan-Michael (and maybe Hope or Mike on recurring), and I'd bring in a long-lost son for Philip who would be around his late teens or early twenties.  I agree that Philip would still need a rival. That's where giving Roger another long-lost kid (not Sebastian) could have worked in this timeframe.
    • @ranger1rg @DemetriKaneI was sure I was swimming upstream alone on this. I get that they are all proud to be Duprees, but the writers are just overplaying it. Ted's an ass, but presumably, he's been a model husband for the last 25 (?) years...but he just isn't good enough (or can handle or whatever..) a Dupree woman? *cough* I guess the next "shocker" is whatever Vernon and Anita's secret is. I hope it's something a little more original than him cheating on Anita.
    • Yes, that was probably to he case. In  the book, after Malcolm Groome (Pat) said he dated Kathleen Tolan,  he said he saw her theater work and found her to be  "compelling and charismatic actress"  In one of Ilene Kristen's many video interviews promoting the book, she also praised Kathleen.
    • David knowing Burke was going to die and making sure to say goodbye to him was very unnerving. Some of the last moments where David Henesy's otherworldly vibes from those first few years are put to good use. I agree that the few months right before 1795 are excellent. They do a great job with building suspense and going through insane twists.  DS was never going to be able to have a long run anyway, with the high burnout rate and a number of principal cast not likely to stay, but I do wonder what might have been if they had done a better job with the present day after the return from 1795.
    • Off of the Xander/Paulina scenes in Thursday's episode, I really hope that means we're getting Theo coming home permanently. I didn't really see much of Cameron Johnson in the role, and though he was pretty and I'm thankful for his occasional thirst traps on Insta, Kyler Pettis could not act, so a brand new recast would be fine by me, but if you all think Cameron doesn't a real shot, I'd be fine with that, too. I just want Theo to be taken seriously as a character for once and make his place on this show like he deserves. I was annoyed the second Susan showed up again, but I do admit it was interesting to see her reunite with Marlena and see their dynamic when EJ joined them. Hopefully now we're done with her forever. As for John, this last bit of hope Marlena is getting before the inevitable is already so devastating. This is going to be so hard to watch. Xander reminding the audience he IS a cold blooded murderer, point blank. Paul Telfer was devilishly terrifying. Taking off his jacket was such a sexy power move. That Philip doesn't have a permanent dent in his face will be a miracle. It'll be interesting if it'll just be the one punch or if next week will see Philip more battered and bruised. How bad are they going to make Xander look? I will say, the best part of this story is that I'm not rooting for one over the other. How Philip reacts to this violence will be interesting. I also liked how everything with stealing the drug ended up. Very messy. Steve even made me laugh at one point, and I've been indifferent to him for years. I hope poor Kevin doesn't get scapegoated, but it'll be nice to see him presumably reunite with Shawn next. We'll be really lucky if Belle somehow crosses paths with him, too.
    • I've really been enjoying seeing him/Smitty interact with other actors/characters
    • She didn't want a hotel room; doubt she's going to want the apartment room, either. There was no reason to re-arrange the other one. This was the most logical move.
