I Thought we could do this, which countrie has the best soapoperas.?. I Have only seen, from Us, Uk and Australia. I have seen something very fast from a german soap, here is my list:!!!!!!!!!!!

1. UNITED KINGDOM- The Best shows (Coronation, Emmerdale, Eastenders, and there really is no actor or actress that`s bad, and thats why this countrie is first.

2. AUSTRALIA- Almost as good as the UK Soapoperas, but not really.!

3. UNITED STATES- Somere great, but some are awful.!

4. GERMANY- Of what i have seen i think they are copying to much from the american ones, but then again i have only seen some episodes from Verbotene Lietbe, and i think it`s not the greatest thing......... :(

Let's....please not have this conversation. People are going to pick the country that they are from. As many times as I've seen threads like this on soap boards, it's ALWAYS the same. The people from the UK will pick the UK soaps. The people from Australia will pick the AUS soaps. And the people from the US will pick the US soaps. Why would you grow up on something, been watching it your whole entire life, then say that it's not as good as something you've only seen a few clips or maybe some episodes of? And that's not to say that there aren't people who have seen a lot of the soaps from other countries. I'm just saying...you'd be hard-pressed to find someone from the US who would give up watching the greatest episode of "General Hospital" or "As the World Turns" ever just so they can watch the greatest episode of "Coronation Street" or "EastEnders" ever.

But then again, I've heard people say that the very worst episode of "EastEnders" is still better than the very best episode of "All My Children," despite them not having the foggiest idea what AMC is or what it is about...

I don't think that's true. I love Coronation Street and I love Days of our Lives, but when it comes to quality, Corrie is consistently better. But when it comes to being an actual part of my everyday life and being raised in it, then Days will always have that spot in my heart.

Well then again, maybe American soaps would be really good, if all would not look so unaturally, everything looks so false. And then again, the actors and actresses in the uk, dosen`t have had made fifty plastic surgeries they look naturally, something not many american ones do soon, and that is a pity.!!!!!!!!!

Well, if "All My Children" and "The Young and the Restless" aired in network primetime, their audiences would be much larger than what they are.

And 1 million isn't a very accurate count of how many people watch daytime soaps in the US. "Passions" is at the bottom of the pack and it still makes close to an average of 2 million per week. Most US daytime soaps fall in the 2-3 million mark.

It's always this same, tired old argument! "Well, our soaps have people who look average and normal, and there's middle class, and nobody is pretty and everybody looks normal and blah blah blah!"

Just because a person is attractive doesn't mean that they can no longer possess the skills needed to be a great actress or actor. Look no further than the likes of Jennifer Ferrin, Robin Strasser, Eden Riegel, Lauren Koslow, or any of the other amazing actresses on US soaps.

It was an evolution on US soaps to move to "the pretty people," though. I mean, you have good actresses from the olden days, like Mary Stuart, who really weren't all that pretty. Rosemary Prinz rocked the house, and she had an unsightly mole on her face. She pioneered that stuff before Cindy Crawford and her "beauty marks!" lol

    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
    • @Efulton thank you. I don't know how I missed it or didn't recall it.  I'll blame amnesia . Anyway @Errol Could the newer thread be merged to the existing? Thanks in advance.
