My barber's name is Santo. He has a nbit of a hunch back but gives a good straight-raxor shave.

Back on topic, the scenes with D/J/B/H were excellent with a great nod to history and Doug's place. Willow's death was surprisingly brutal and the guy who plays Nick did a good job, better than I thought he could do.

Lucas needs to chill out, but I'm still not jumping on the EJ/Sami wagon yet. I've shipped for Sami/Lucas for too long to switch now. Plus, I want EJ with Cheslea.

The show gets much better tomorrow. FYI, tomorrow's best line of dialogue is "It didn't take!". You'll see why when you watch it.

Now I'm critical of Hogan Sheffer all the time, but I must say that today's show was SUPERB!!!

I love it when Hope is in police business so it made me so glad when she and Bo decided to work the "DiMera Case" together. And then Doug and Julie...just....OH I LOVE THEM!!! They were definately the high light....and even a flashback that had to be at least twenty years old!!

I wonder why they put Willow's death in the middle of an episode? Usually events like that happen at the end. None the less, I enjoyed the scenes and both actors carried well.

*sigh* Are all of you ready?

Are you sure?

Okay, here it comes.....

I'm on the Ejami bandwagon. :o

Exactly Drew. I personally have no problem with TPTB no longer portraying as the sympathetic doting, perfect husband the guy who's tried to kill Sami, framed her for a murder he committed, drove drunk and almost killed Will, left her at the altar twice, was engaged to her sister this time last year and constantly disparaging her all last summer, etc... even if that means making a guy Sami's accused of rape and a Dimera who's tortured her family look good. Both of these guys are such bad news I don't know whether to laugh or cry at how these are Sami's options. Of course, I love the drama that results from these being her options and since I think EJ is more interesting and more attractive I want him to win and be the sympathetic guy. Yay for them tilting the balance for EJ!

But back to the episode at hand... what is up with Lucas ordering around the police officer guarding Sami's room the way he is? Did he get hired as a commanding officer by the Salem PD when he went down to the police station for EJ's interrogation? At least even if they are writing him all bossy and angry they are giving him some brains to know Sami's up to something. That is an improvement IMO over how clueless/in denial he was the first five months of the year.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that the anti-Brady scheming Sami is back. Please keep her that way.

Yay for Doug and Julie being back and Bo in a scene that not only doesn't make me hate him the way so many of his scenes have lately, but actually reminds me why I like him.

Love Nick. Thanks for all the memories Willow. OK actually I don't thank you for ALL the memories, but thanks for "What are you gonna do about it, GRANDMA?" That scene was pretty delicious as has been most of her scenes the past couple weeks.

BTW, I love this thread's soap mag cover! Is Patrick Muldoon still alive? I really liked his performance in that 1995 ep they played during the Days Mother's Day marathon... as weird as it was seeing Austin be actually interesting rather than just Ausduhhhh.

I agree the writing of this triangle is horrible. But...

I would argue Lucas hasn't been written to be Sami's true partner in a LONGGGGGGGGGGG time so I don't know at what point you have to say the character of Lucas simply is no longer Sami's partner, it's not just that he's being written that way. Brandon was her partner in scheming to get back custody of Will from Lucas. Lucas was her partner for a while again when he helped her get over her parents' "deaths" and heading into the first wedding, but that partnership completely fizzled IMO after the Stan wedding. Austin was her business partner helping her get back on her feet after Stan. Then when Sami was again scheming to ensnare Austin and get Lucas and Carrie together, who was her confidant and accomplice last summer? It wasn't Lucas. It was EJ who was her partner in that even if he turned treacherous in the end and exposed her secret because he wanted Sami for himself. Since EJ and Sami have been in each other's orbit they've constantly been shown as partners whether it was Sami confiding in EJ about what she did to Austin and Carrie or EJ hiring Sami to be his company spokeswoman or the two of them keeping so many secrets from everyone the past five months about how the two of them together saved Lucas.

The way I see it, Lucas was Sami's counterpart when they were both teens and maybe could have been her adult partner had they worked things out before EJ came to town, but now that EJ is around he is Sami's adult partner.

Obviously you disagree, but dang it I just have to get that out.

I agree that EJ is her adult partner and that Lucas hasn't been written as her partner in a long time, but that was character assassination above all else, which the writers seemed to be repairing until just recently. That's my beef.

Wow.

Today's show was just firing on ALL cyclinders. I can't get over how good it was. Bo and Hope were perfect (flirty, funny, smart, on the case) and, man, it was great to see Doug and Julie again. They're just both so wonderfully over the top in a perfect soapy-goodness kind of way. I really, really want to see them stay in Salem and take their rightful place as the grand matriarch and patriarch of Salem a la Tom and Alice.

Then Doug should re-open Doug's place and we can have music and dancing and romance on Days again. And big Galas with all kinds of intrigue and suspense going on the in background...

Poor Nick! Loved seeing him stand up to Willow but hated watching it all come crashing down around him when he realized she was dead. I think we're seeing the beginnings of the end for Chick (temporarily) with him realizing he never should have stolen the hairbrush for her. It's not who he is. I thought Blake Berris did a great job showing his fear/regret/panic when he realized how serious it was.

I can't believe they're making me like EJ and Sami again. Everything in me hates the thought of pulling for a rapist and his victim to get together but the writers are making it very difficult when they have Lucas running around barking like a judgmental chihuahua but have EJ and Sami being all funny and cute and devious with each other.

THE SHOW ROCKED!!

I loved so much about today's episode that I don't know where to start. I guess I'll start in the past......loved Doug and Julie's reminiscing about Doug's Place. I vividly remember his signature song "The Look of Love" from when he had Doug's Place. Julie would sit at a table in the corner with big puppy dog eyes while he sang, because she loved him, but he was married to her mother. Then he was free, but she was married to Bob Anderson...and on and on. Anyway, loved the mention and the flashback. I also had my heart skip a little beat when Julie/Doug mentioned they were home to stay, that Alice had a lot of room, that Julie is going to learn Alice's secret donut recipie...I sense we're at a pivotal moment with our beloved Alice! I always thought when Alice was gone, that Julie would be the Horton matriarch. I know many think this role should go to Maggie, but Julie is a Horton by blood and an original character and Susan Seaforth-Hayes has played the part of Julie from almost the beginning (can't remember exactly when she came on board).

RIP Willow. Hated her, but I must admit she gave me some laughs the last few weeks. She was so brazen and ballsy and gutsy! Poor Shawn--how many unborn babies has he lost now? Is this two or three? That embryo switch storyline had me so confused I'm still not sure how many babies Shawn has created.

I loved Bo/Hope today. These cute, sexy little scenes are what have made them so popular, and I've missed seeing them. And did anyone catch the Nick/Nora reference? Isn't that what Hogan supposedly had planned for Lumi? I think this may be another sign that Lucas is losing favor. Although, honestly, Lucas has always been bossy and arrogant and suffering from a Napoleon complex. I remember his very first scene with Sami--he was so obnoxious and that's why she called him the "General". EJ is clearly being redeemed (quickly) and the banter between him and Sami is very clever and flirtatious, while Lucas just issues orders, makes assinine statements and looks ridiculous. That cop should have laughed in his face!

Poor Nick. He should have taken that hairbrush out of the evidence bag and thrown it into the lake. You just know it's going to be found, and then he will be in even more trouble. Good job by the actor; probably the best work he's done yet.

I can't wait for tomorrow! It's so nice to be excited about DAYS again.

    • Same. I love like a lot of the other characters she has so much potential and possibilities. I also love she is not a shrinking violet. And most definitely not perfect.   Lol. Okay, I give you that. But I'm a horror fan so I ain't hating on her for being one, too.    Well like I said when this story started...those kind of backrooms DO exist even now. The workers even run to get the gamblers food orders so they can completely focus on losing all their money the game. I appreciated Randy clarifying that the other day when Mona was asking him about the machines. Of course, that said...I guess the question is if we will see the rest of the casino.    Same, but especially the bold.
    • One of the things that I found refreshing about Ryan's Hope when I discovered it on SoapNet was that for the most part, Delia was the only female character whose life seemed to revolve around getting and keeping a man, and it was clearly viewed as a character flaw. Because by the 2000s, I feel like fully half the female characters on the soaps at that time were obsessed with trying to snare some vacuous lunkhead. Up that to like 85% of them if we're talking Days Of Our Lives or Passions.
    • Yes, a few months before Wanda De Jesus, actually. Shortly after the Dobsons took over again, Rosa just magically reappeared as if she'd just been offscreen in the Capwell kitchen for the past four years. I just started watching this from the beginning again last year and I will agree with past posts that there really does seem to have been a reboot of sorts in January 1985. To me, it seemed like the four performers who really seemed to set the tone for the new wittier, more sophisticated direction were Nicolas Coster, Louise Sorel, Lane Davies and Judith McConnell.
    • You're right about the potential many of those stories could have had. The execution was more of an issue. Something never clicked for me in Angelique's present-day adventures - some of them I actually found very irritating due to the slanted writing and her voice being overshadowed. It took the Leviathan story for me to enjoy her in that timeline. I wish they had just left Peter/Vicki to the past and used that to inform who Vicki became when she returned, instead of bringing him back.
    • Thanks @slick jones I appreciate the interviews you share.
    • Download isn't working for me either.  With that said, thank you for all the work you have done!
    • @P.J. Well, it wasn't her first award. I am sure she has written books, and spoken at colleges, and gotten some notoriety from it. Most importantly, she is fulfilled. Something Dani is not.  @Paul Raven Exactly, it does not ring true to me. Dani has that big personality because she is masking pain. And she probably clung to Bill because he made her feel smart and important (at one point). There are ways to add more layers to her.
    • Absolutely. And IIRC Rose Alaio has mentioned production having it out for her.
    • That goes back to Chance/Abby-there was way more to explore with their marriage but the first problem that pops up that's pretty much it-moving on. And Kyle/Lola, years worth of story dropped so he can fall back in love with Summer. Sharon/Rey married off with no plans for their future so they kill him off. And so on...
