Linn i usually agree with most of your thoughts and posts..But your dislike of Sami/Ali puzzles me...I don't understand how you can't recognize she's an incredibly huge star of Days and has been for the last 13 or so years...If you asked a fan of the last 15 years what the main characters of Days are Sami would be at the top of the list, with Marlena, John, Bo, Hope, Jack, and Jennifer of course...

I just can't stand the character of Sami. I never have. I prefer villains who are complex and multi-layered with the ability to entertain you (it's why I love Marlena, there's a reason for everything she does, and the history is so rich and so dark, there's so much to use that they never do anymore). That's just not Sami to me. Sami is a one note villainess who does the same thing over and over and then blames it on her mother, her (step)father and her sister, depending on the moment. The one thing they could do to make me actually root for Sami is if they gave her a backbone. Have her stand up to her father for once. I'm just waiting for the scene where Roman's disagreeing with John and Marlena, and they get into it about Sami's childhood, and Sami responds "Back off. Yes, they messed up, but at least they stayed and faced the music. They didn't leave me to fend for myself while nursing their injured ego in a suicide mission."

And trust me, after Sheffer, I don't hate Sami as much as I did before. It's just time for a break IMO, she's never been on the backburner, this pregnancy story was the perfect time for it and it should've happen.

I don't dislike Ali. She's a person, I don't know much about her, but acting wise, I'm just not as impressed as JSF seems to be. Who's saying I don't recongnize that Sami's popular? She's popular, I've never denied that, and I would be intrigued in reading an example where I have. I can dislike a character and still view that characters popularity or lack thereof objectively. I still enjoy Lucas/Sami. I love Lucas, and he's one of the two people I tolerate Sami around.

It was the Ali doesn't have the chops for primetime, that made me think you disliked her..But thanks for clarifying Linn..I think JER regressing Sami during his past run, was one of the reasons for your Sami hate..I could barely stand Sami then, but i'm liking this more mature Sami who has forgiven John and has a nice relationship with her mother...

I've hated the way Sami was written the past several months, too. The slurping and giggling with Lucas was just too much. And boring. The bipolar disorder of one minute being scared to death of that "monster" EJ Wells and then the next cackling like a hyena when that monster gets poked in the eye when her fiance sprays him with a fire extinguisher. Or one minute I'm doubled over in anguish over thinking I burned alive this guy who may be the father of my baby but wait 30 minutes have passed let's have sex all night Lucas. Ugh.

I mean, honestly I don't see why her winding up with EJ or the storyline outlined in these spoilers would turn/keep her into a weeping sack of sadness or cause her to lose her edge. She WILL fight back and at least initially reject Stefano's offer, she (and EJ?) will scheme to find another way to resolve the feud that doesn't involve the forced marriage and even if that happens, I mean she and EJ are friends again (as weird as that is how quickly he was forgiven) and has anyone gone to live at the Dimera mansion and gotten less wicked? I could see the hypocritical, uppity Bradys not appreciating what she did for them and her coming to resent them for it, too. This could result in her being the anti-heroine of the show or a straight up villainess. Which either IMO would be better than what we have had the past several months because it just wouldn't ring true to try and pretend Sami is another goody goody Marlena type of heroine.

Of course that's just my opinion. One of the things I find fascinating about the character of Sami is that maybe because she lies so much she is something different to every person. Some think she's one-note psycho bitch, some think she's just a misguided soul who wants to be loved, some see her as the selfish schemer and I've even seen her compared to Lucy Ricardo (lolololololololololol). To me, Sami hasn't been Sami the past several months. She was written to be manipulating EJ when said stuff about how she lies and manipulates people and never mind the body count, but to me scenes like that were her actually speaking truth about the real Sami. So that's a big part of why I want her with EJ. No matter what he's done.

I loved Sami in that great great episode last October where she had her self-absorbed pity party for herself going on and on to EJ at the bar about being the anti-Brady that was followed by her winding up drunk at Austin and Carrie's wedding telling everyone off. And I loved Sami as the seductress when she was setting up EJ to go to the cabin. Yeah those were really dumb, short-sighted things to do, but that's what Sami does.

Great potential with the marriage thing. This sort of reminds me of the will-feud between Tony, Anna(?!), David and Renée in the early eighties, the way Stefano made it into a game.

Poor Lucas seems like he's getting the shaft.

I can't believe that some people don't see that Sami is obviously the next Marlena. Um, no, sure she's no doctor or exhibits the same characteristics as Marls, but COME ON! A DiMera is obsessed with her, she's not scared of him, but she's going to be a victim and a whole DiMera-centric story will center on her. She will be the face of "Days of Our Lives." -- all things that were true of Marls in the '90s.

Sami is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo the next Marlena.

Well, Hog willing, that will be the thing that separates the two ladies apart! lol.

EJAMI FOREVER, BABY!!!

(Come on, EJami, clearly, would have MUCH hotter sex than Lucas and Sami.)

Meanwhile, I have to wonder how Dee feels about all this. Oh, she puts up a good front but as a human, I don't care what anyone says, she has to be REALLY jealous of Ali right now and with the DiMera angle, you just KNOW she's thinking, "That was me... that... was me..."

Linn, did Days really fire her? I remember watching the never say never: deidre hall story and there it was said she decided to leave?

and the problem with Sami now is that she is The next Marlena..the weak, pathetic victim she was.I dont want that.that is just not sami.

    • I'm fighting for my life on another board for my husband Brandon and I'll do it here too lmao
    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
    • You've been seeing him all along. You just didn't know it was him, I guess.

    • Where to for Dana? She's pissed off the Duprees (most of the cast), alienated her daughter and will she be welcomed by the Have Nots at the diner? Maybe she can befriend Ashley and Derek and liven up their story.
    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
