Now that I got that wiggle room and May is just about done...These are my thoughts...
I thought GH started off strong for May Sweeps.
So I can mention it...I actually liked the New York trip for Gio and Emma. Okay...Sprina's was better. That was a given, but it was nice to see a variety on that with Gio and Emma. And then the trip followed them home with that cameo. Well-played, Frank and ABC. I know we have been talking about them and their airtime for some time. So it was good to see that their airtime has increased and continues to be a focus.
I loved the car crash. I'm still not sure if it is truly BLQ (who is the weakest part of the story tbh) and continue to feel Isaiah is a red herring. But the fallout and pacing for it has been great up to now. It gave something different to the black cast because I would have never expected Jordan's face to be injured and TH to come to life over Jordan's new reality. Even though yes, Ava had this same storyline with the face when I was not watching. I was interested in that angle for her and Curtis as an internal couple conflict. So I'm a little sad that focus has shifted from Jordan's struggle to Curtis vs Isaiah...something I know I've mentioned I would like to see a few months ago when Isaiah seem a little too obsessive with Portia.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop with Carly and Brennan has looooooooong been overdue. And I was shocked and surprisingly enjoyed it all coming out. LW and ChrisM have actually found chemistry enough for me that I actually cared. And the fallout? Has surprised me with how great it was. I didn't get to finish the episode of Joss dropping the bomb (sidenote...I guess I didn't see the episode where Joss figured out Cassius, either. Oh, wait...it was the end of the episode? oops. Blame it on my work schedule), but watching the chickens come home to roost for Brennan was wild on top of him finding out about Val/Carly. Meanwhile, Joss got kidnapped by Fathan, too?? Like I said...WILD.
Add on to that was the beginning of Michael letting his Quartermaine truly show and deciding that he would try to manipulate Willow and Chase into that long-discussed-here affair...May was looking great.
SO....What happened???
It was like the writers had it too good and had to go off the rails with their stupid writing tics. And I just got irked as heck.
Cuz what was that plot with Sonny and Ric? Why is Lulu being attacked by slanted writing? Why is that Random WSB Guy walking? Cody, Molly, and any and all mentions of that darn book when they actually have good moments between them as a couple...until that book gets mentioned? As much as I like ND, why is Ethan here? Frank's getting his dream of repositioning Valentin as the staroftheshow hero...complete with struggle with Brennan...just sent the writers (and me) over the edge with their annoying tics.
BUT...just as quickly as they jumped off the storyline cliff...they apparently have climbed out of it. Well...slowly.
What caught my interest? For one...Molly and Jordan finally mentioning TJ and discussing him. For another...ESPECIALLY...Drew's hand twitched. He didn't get far, but I love a good soap near-miss. I didn't get to see the rest of the episode where Sidwell and Willow discussed if they might bring him up for air, but I liked the intrigue of Drew trying to move.
I am loving the potential Ric/Liz/Dante triangle cuz...LIZ.
OOoooo the bomb of Dante (with Liz's help) figuring out what happened with Rocco has set Dante on fire and him going off has been driving story and increased his presence and I've been loving it. Dante vs Lulu was great. But still...WHY ARE THEY NOT TOGETHER? Meanwhile, I enjoyed Dante vs Fathan as well. How dare that imposter try to tell ANYONE how to be a father? He needs to hurry up and get off my screen. And HADES NO to him and Joss. So much Peter August 2.0 going on so I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. At least until Frank gets bored.
And god, Finn Carr is in the spotlight and I love to see it for him and Rocco. Even if I don't like the story choices.
And as insufferable as Curtis is...I have enjoyed the growing Curtis vs Isaiah. Though the hand thing is reminding me of the similar storyline (with the black cast as well) a few years back of Y&R Devon and Nate. And at least they had history and the actors always played the subtext even when it was not on the page going on for years after Nate and his hand. I don't feel we are getting it here.
And I think I'm the bandwagon with the rest of you now. Baby Delilah is one baby too far on this show.
I am also ready for Anna to come home. Though I continue to love that Emma gets focused.
