Hilton's jail term cut to about 23 days

Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.

The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.

Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.

Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.

The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.

A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

Just another fine example of our justice system going nice on celebrities, if this would have been anyone else they would have went to jail for over a year if not more

As for the comment above about it being HOT yah, it would have been real hot if you would have been in front of her drunk car while she was driving it, I highly doubt you would think it was hot when you are in the hospital clinging to life or you were dead.

I guarantee you within 2 months of her being released she will be driving drunk again, and they will put her away for another month, and repeat cycle until the bitch kills someone. I wonder if you will come on here and say that is HOT also. sorry to be rude but how anyone can think this is hot is beyond me.

Except that will never happen. You can pray and scream all you want to but shes not going to jail for a year. Nor is she going to kill someone once she gets out. And yeah shes probably going to drink.

And I can say its hot because it is. Paris Hilton isn't a saint. But she definitely is not a monster and I think these charges are bogus and are NOT about the crime. So yeah I'm happy that shes not going to be in jail if not for the simple fact that it infuriates all these people who are obssessed with some 26 year old girl they know nothing about. All of you hate her for silly reasons. And if you were honest you'd admit just want her in jail because you don't like her. NOT because she broke the law. Therefore if her sentence is reduced its no biggie to me.

Last but not least you're all acting like shes the only person whos driven drunk. Millions of people drive drunk each year. I doubt all of em are brought to "justice". Paris didn't do something completely unforgiveable. NOR did she commit the crime of the century.

Once again THATS HOT.

ICAM. I don't care what her last name is or how much money she has, she needs to do the time for what she did. I don't see why people are so stupid, knowing that they will get caught. Just do what you gotta do and everything will be okay but for some reason she thinks that she is God and can do whatever she pleases. She needs to get over herself, seriously.

Yeah it would be hot when someone has to identify their loved one at the morgue because of her stupid, irresponsible ass. Some people just can't help but to say ridiculous, not to mention ignorant things. I know she has her fans but geez, they are starting to act as dimwitted as her. There is nothing hot about going to jail. Her sentence got reduce but guess what? She is still going to jail. Since its so "hot" why dont you go out and get arrested, and be put in jail and see how "hot" that is. It just doesn't make sense to me. Are we actually being sincere or just trying to cause more controversy on the board to ruffle feathers?

But then again, this is Paris we are talking about here. I mean she is the next best thing, besides the second coming of Christ  . Society is being unfair on her and we shouldn't pick on her. She is afterall, the victim!

Never say never, you are just setting yourself up for a diaster. No one said anything about her going to jail for a year. If you go back and read it carefully, what he said was if it was someone not of celebrity status, they would be serving a lot longer than 23 days. Are you God? Can you see into the future? No, so you don't know what she is going to do. Don't sit around and make up silly assumptions. What you are saying is absolutely absurd.

Its not hot, its ignorant. You may see her as angelic, while others see her as a whore. Such is life, it happens. How are these charges bogus? Do you know what normally happens to people when they violate their parole? Their asses are back in jail before they can say "lock-up." So there is nothing BOGUS about them. She is still getting off very easy. It infuriates me that people are so obsessed over her that they will defend her no matter what, even what she did was legally wrong but also morally. Its actually more frigtening than anything else. We've all seen the stories of people becoming totally obsessed over celebrites that it takes over their lives and they say and do all sorts of things...........................................

If it was anyone else, I would want them to do the time. Why? Because what they did was WRONG. How is that so hard to understand? How many times does it have to be said before it clicks? You hear all kinds of horrible stories because people thought that they were okay enough to drive while drunk and then something happens and someone gets hurt. That is not hot at all. Something seriously could have happened and would you still say that it is hot that she injured or better yet, killed someone? Is that hot? Is it??!! I'm trying to understand the logic but its like arguing with my 5 year cousin. Its a waste of time. I think the issue of people driving drunk has been addressed more than once here. No one has stated that what she did was unforgivable or the crime of the century BUT what she did was wrong.

Yeah and millions are KILLED each year as well. So she didn't kill anyone that time, but who's to say that the next time she decides to drive drunk she kills a mother and her kids? Is it still hot then?

I just can't believe there are people who act all nonchalant about this? She was on parole for reckless drunken driving. She violated her parole and people think she should only get a slap on the wrist? just boggles the mind.

I think that people need to stop remembering that this is PARIS HILTON.

The only reason people want her to get a slap on the wrist is because she's "hot." Surely someone who talks with a baby voice doesn't belong in jail... right?!

If she were some ugly, fat bitch, there would be no argument. If this were Roseanne, nobody would give a sh!t and she'd serve the term, end of story. Only because she's Paris Hilton does she get a reprieve, and I hope that little [!@#$%^&*] pays for it.

If her name was Paris Smith, would it be hot? If she was a brunette, 250lb woman, would it be hot. It doesn't matter who she is, what she looks like, etc. It is a responsible adult who violated her parole for drunk driving. She is lucky she didn't kill someone. Her license, as well as anyone else who has done this, should be taken away from her for a damn long time.

I wonder how much Mommy and Daddy had to pay the judge to lessen the sentence.

A million plus lifetime comps to all Hiltons perhaps?

Nice to know that if you're famous you can get away with behavior that could cost someone their life.

Bravo Hollywood. Bravo.

Bogus charges? Isn't it public record that she was pulled over TWICE while driving without a license..and was drunk at least one of those times?

how is that bogus?

My brother died in a drunk driving accident, I WISH he was pulled over and sent to jail for his stupid actions but he hit a tree instead. Thank God he killed himself and not an innocent person.

I do not care if you are Paris Hilton or my dad...if you pull something SO STUPID your ass better be in jail for it.

What a freaking whore.

    • Randy (Doug's friend who works for Joey) -- Joey told Randy weeks ago that Joey's plan was to get Doug into so much debt that Doug would be forced to get Vanessa's real estate holding turned over to Joey, to use for money-laundering.  That's been the plan all along, which the viewers knew.  The only thing new is that Joey finally told Doug this. I think Joey is written badly.  I also think Jon Lindstrom is doing "Now I am going to act menacing".   But I don't really feel the menace.  It's too overdramatic and it doesn't feel like a real person.  Jon is a fine actor on GH, so I don't know what's happening here -- the entire BTG mobster premise is badly designed/written.  I don't know if Guza pushed for a mobster storyline?  Or did Jon?  (Jon wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters). It just doesn't fit.  It feels (to me) like this storyline for Jon was just shoved onto the canvas but it doesn't fit all all. Monday's scene of Mona coming into the "casino" to check up on where Leslie supposedly lost money in the slot machines -- and Randy explaining to Mona that there are no slot machines, there is nothing but the card room.  I had to laugh because they had characters comment that it's just a card room and not a casino -- the show is now acknowledging that there's nothing there.  If they are going to do this, then have it make sense for Fairmont Crest residents to visit a high-end glamourous casino, and not a random room with one table. So what money is Joey laundering? A while back, Joey told Vanessa that he knows about her sexual philandering because owns the escort service that she'd been using. But I don't care...  I'd just prefer that the entire mobster storyline go away.
    • I caught up this past weekend. The show is better written, but I have been bored with the show. I did notice it ranked in the top 5 again this week, so that's a good sign.
    • I can't take this show seriously. I truly miss WJB writing this show. Bradley didn't inherit his dad's talent.
