Great post.

QUOTE(Chris B @ May 17 2007, 08:24 PM)
Kenny, he did the exact same thing at ATWT, but worse. The ONLY reason changes are being made is because of Ken Corday and the power of DAYS fans. Not many soap fans have the power to make a change, maybe only GH and DAYS. He lied and said he loved the vets, but the result shows otherwise.

Whenever he brought back old characters they'd be recasts and written as completely different characters with no regard for their history. He brought on tons of poorly acted teens and stuck them in some of the most laughable storylines ever. I recall Alison and Aaron searching for this stupid treasure key and the infamous college tour.

His stories live on an island and he has a narrow focus of characters he'd focus on. I remember when Sierra was on SHE was written as Lucinda's daughter and Lily/Rose were in their own world, rarely having scenes with Lucinda. He has no consistancy.

People complain time and time again about Corday, but we all know Hogan had total control. He did what he did at ATWT, make false promises, start off hot and once his job is secure--do whatever the hell he wants. His success at ATWT was short-lived, overrated and ultimately a fluke.

DAYS fans will continue to blame anyone but Hogan and the result serves you right. I don't understand the loyalty to him.

The thing is, Chris, it's been really that bad lately. As bad as Hogan has been, and I do think that he has several glaring problems (and we can't count on Corday to restrain all of them since Corday is indeed a moron), he's an improvement in many ways too.

I do think some of us hold Hogan to task though. Just like I always tried to be very brutally honest with myself about JER, I aim to do the same with Sheffer.

Perhaps some of us are scared that complaining about Sheffer means we'll get one of the previous hacks back :(

Lots of soaps oscillate between hacks and decent writers ... in the past ten year's we've had a year of Brash and Cwikley for decent, and the rest has been an endless succession of hackery.

I thought that DAYS felt like a cheap MTV show during Dena Higleys term. Before her, Peter Brash and Paula Cwikly had really put an effort into trying to get the viewers back who had tuned out during Langans writing. They actually succeeded quite well to begin with. But then Dena came and ruined everything again. She is the main reason to why DAYS ratings sunk to the bottom in the first place.

This is more a question for last week, but based on those numbers AMC and OLTL were both below 1.0 in the 18-34 demo last week. Have they ever been below 1.0 before or was that a new low?

Wrong, like every other Wednesday in recent ratings showings; Days gained viewers because its always their highest day for the week. They just had zip to stick around for with the fiasco wedding. Not a good showing for all money spent on that fiasco and the show was only ahead of 2 soaps for Wednesday so lets get real.

WOW. ATWT had more 18-49 viewers than DAYS (tied in 18-49 HH). Wonder when the last time that happened? I'll take small victories where we can get them. LOL. Surprised Y&R fell, guess it was about time, they have tracking ahead of last year almost every week this season. It'll be interesting to see what happens with ratings from last week -- the Nick fallout.
