Slow walkers. People who live in a downtown metropolis and don't keep up a downtown pace. In Toronto, there is a certain pace you hit going north and south when you can always get green lights.

Sidewalk standers. "Hmm...this busy sidewalk seems the ideal place for me to stand and talk with my friends." Hey, jerk, how about you move the Hell out of the way.

Overweight children. I get so upset at parents with large children. I mean, the kid doesn't know any better--he/she eats what his parents give him--but the parents should know better. I used to work at a grocery store and another peeve were the wheezing, fatty-fatty-boh-boh-latties with their tonnes of junk food, bacon, cookies, white bread, pizzas and ice cream sandwiches--and a kid, munching on something. Troubles breathing... red, puffy faces... walking with limps... and empty, empty eyes as they load mound upon mount of trash onto the conveyor belt, nary a veggie in sight... I always left that job feeling so sad.

Pushover parents. No, no... don't give your screaming larva of a child a piece of candy to shut them up, you stupid tool. It is painfully obvious what's going on! Your kids acts that way because he/she knows you will reward them. The screams are not independant of the rewarding behavious; they are dependant. Stop the rewarding, and the screams will stop. D'uh.

Emos. Oh, poor you, life is so sad. Get over it. Everyone knows the realities of life already and don't need to always look sad with long hair. Sadly, you aren't the first person to feel those emotions. In fact, as a teenager, you are a little late to the life-is-so-sad train; millions have felt it before you. Try living in Darfur and pull that crap.

Public kissers. "I'm so hot, I'll heavy pet with my boyfriend right in a doorway... Eww, why are people staring?" We wouldn't stare, sweetie, if you'd didn't do it in a doorway of a busy intersection.

Stuck-up twinks. Listen little miss 20-year-old. Just because you get a weekly $100 "haircut, style and dye" and wear a yellow shirt with Marilyn Monroe in glitter doesn't make you hot [!@#$%^&*]. And don't take the stares as compliments; people rubberneck at car wrecks, too. Plus, the little flabby gut you're sporting will only get worse. And for goodness sake, do some arm and chest workouts!!

I hate when people answer the phone during dinner. I think that's so rude to do because it just makes things awkward, especially if it's only the two of you. What is the other person supposed to do? You just sit there, looking stupid and awkward.

I have to add slow drivers to my list.

I've gotten two speeding tickets in my four years of driving, but I don't consider myself to be an overly-speedy driver. I'll do about 20km over the speed limit mostly.

But, it annoys the hell out of me, when someone is driving below the speed limit!

Word.

Anyone seen the annoying bitches on MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen?

-Old people wearing "young" labels. Like a HUGE 40 year old man rocking an American Eagle "I can be your Private Dancer" shirt.

This happens all the time at one particular university building I have had to pass through everyday to get to one of my classes. When it finally got nice outside, I finally gave up walking through that building to get to class and walking outside instead. It was so much faster!

Yeah, this is borderline offensive but I totally agree and I agree about overweight people in general as well. I'm sick of people who have weight issues complaining about how people perceive them. North America in particular has a high obesity rate. Go to Europe, Asia, etc. and you'll find that's more often than not that obesity isn't purely biological like so many assume it is but environmental because those people in those other continents aren't experiencing an obesity problem like people are in NA. Why??? Because they have a more balanced diet, they exercise more, etc.

I have a cousin who spoils her child senseles. My cousin's kid is a nice kid but if she doesn't get her way, she becomes overly bratty and it drove me crazy that my cousin continuously gave her what she wanted all the time.

Haha..this one makes me laugh.

Yeah, I fail to understand how some people are totally fine with making out with their significant others in public. To each their own, I guess.

Haha...I'm 20 and I'm the complete opposite of this. I've been seeing this lately with a lot of 13-17-year-olds, though. Ahh..to be that age again...

Slow drivers are also a pet peeve of mine as well as people who don't signal. My mom's a slow driver and it drives me crazy whenever I drive with her or she drives me somewhere. People who cross the street at a pedestrian crossing as if their walking under the moonlight annoy the h-ll out of me as well. When I cross the street and I KNOW that someone is waiting to drive through, I run! One time, this kid was walking at snail pace, I'm sure he was trying to spite me that as soon as he was an inch out of harm's way, I started driving just to scare him enough to walk faster. I'm not sorry..that kid was being a total brat!

    • Yes! Thank you @Liberty City for this pic of Mr. Robinson! Nice! I see him on the paramount PR page https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/beyond-the-gates/talent/ Looks like the page is laid out with the core four (Tunie/Davis/Duplaix/Mosley) first... followed by the rest of the contract actors alphabetically. Maurice Johnson is no longer there, and Keith D. Robinson is at the end alphabetically.
    • Kind of a fun show, only slowed down a bit for the penthouse scenes. I'm still not sure if we are meant to be hoping Tate and Sophia fall in love with each other and keep their baby. I felt sorry for her, what a crappy prom birthday that was. Paulina and Xander's negotiations cracked me up. Two players with absolutely no reason to hide their agendas from each other. Refreshing. No comment on Alex getting turned on by Stephanie's book again. This is all the new writers can do for this couple? I know they are shallow and their entire relationship is based on sex but come on, this is mortifying. Philip's bad day has been ongoing all week. I love the comedy stylings of him and Kevin and now they have all the Versavix. A bit of foreshadowing that Xander is going to go nuts on him if he messes up the deal, which I think he has just done. I'm guessing that if Xander does anything to Philip then Kate will spill Sarah's part in the lie as revenge. Steve and Shawn did Kevin a major solid by hiding his thieving. He should just take the lot to Titan who can reverse engineer it, and let EJ get stuck with a hospital with absolutely nothing going for it. Did Shane actually find John or was it just 'closing in' again? Marlena's reaction seemed to indicate he was actually located.
    • I feel like Leslie won't be lasting long on this show. Probably a murder mystery to be. She's alienated Mona and Jan, the best people she had, just to stick it to a married man.

    • Thank you @dragonflies ! Appreciate you finding this. There's a lot in the article about Black representation on soaps, history, quoting quite a few people. I replied on the behind-the-scenes thread here: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/66310-btg-history-behind-the-scenes-articles-photos/?do=findComment&comment=2023349
    • Lemay came on in 1971, Rauch in 1972. From 1971-1974, they pretty much continued the show as it had been under Agnes Nixon, with its escapist star-crossed love triangles. But then in 1975, with the expansion to an hour, it seemed they were given permission by NBC or Lin Bolen, to do more of their own thing. They did and transformed the show into a high-brow theater hour, focusing on their favorites and on psychological conflicts. It was good from 1975-1979, but it was a bit overhyped and wasn't sustainable.  Lin Bolen was into psychological, realistic drama, as seen from the failed soap opera she developed  and pushed from 1974-1975, How to Survive a Marriage. I wonder how much of the new one hour AW in 1975 was Bolen encouraging/ordering Lemay and Rauch to incorporate some elements of her How to Survive a Marriage. Or perhaps Lemay and Rauch were fans of How to Succeed, and incorporated elements of it on their own?
    • Thank you to dragonflies for finding this article! Victoria Rowell says she was asked to audition for Anita Dupree ‘Beyond the Gates’ is renewed as veteran Black soap actors cheer its success https://apnews.com/article/beyond-gates-renewal-d7369f7a60a0a992483294acb950ef6d  And more about the article:  Discussion of Black representation and history on soaps. Colorism.  Fan engagement.  Quotes from Victoria Rowell, Darnell Williams, Veronica Redd, some professors, and some viewers.  (And a quote from George Cheeks from last year). Ms. Rowell is interviewed and talks about her history on Y&R and how a character can inspire viewers. Regarding BTG After “Beyond the Gates” was announced, Rowell says she received a letter from CBS acknowledging her place in the show’s DNA. “I have been contacted with great respect from the powers that be at CBS, thanking me for all of my hard work, recognizing the work that I have done that has influenced this moment and I appreciate that,” she said. She was “astounded” to be asked to audition for the matriarch role of Anita Dupree, but says she didn’t hear back after submitting her tape. The role went to Tamara Tunie, whom Rowell describes as “a brilliant actress.” CBS did not respond to a request for comment. Great article.  The same Associated Press author Alicia Rancilio did some nice interviews for the GH 60th anniversary in 2023.  Typed articles on the AP website and also video interviews on AP youtube.
    • Agreed that Phillip most definately needed to stay on the canvas if GA was going to play him. Too much history going back to the Dobsons there. Also, they were not hamstrung on Phillip/Beth the way they were on Jeva, so the characters had room to move on to others logically and stay in each others orbits...(I am not saying what they chose to do with Beth in Ruachieville was good but..) I think Reva should have been brought back to cause trouble for Josh and Annie, go through angst, get together with Josh and leave town together. There was no where else to go with them after that as post Annie is when all the ridiculous things happened to keep them on screen.   But Zimmer had been in Hollywood where a Khan said about O'leary..."Realized they couldnt get arrested" lol and she was bound and determined to keep going (not that I blame her, a check is a check) and the Jeva nuts (prompted by Zimmer and Newman at times) would scream if they were off screen for 5 minutes.  The only possible story for Reva was for Josh to be killed or for him to finally have enough of her and leave town. I thought Reva was most interesting during that weird post RN period when she broke up with Kyle and was living with Cane...she had jobs, she was involved with a lot of different people and was not always the center of the story.
    • I think Ms. Rowell should be one of Anita's former bandmates... maybe the one that still harbors resentment over being abandoned. I think the Articulettes probably started out more like The Supremes.. and probably when the other bandmates wanted to go in a more funk/synth pop direction (as what happened to groups in the late 70s/early 80s)... I could have seen Anita bail and forge a solo career since perhaps that genre was not to her liking... and the group disbanded. Wasn't Ms. Morgan also doing another project when the show was casting?  Maybe one day she'll join the show when a role opens up and her schedule is open.     I don't mind the set, but is it a hip place.. or a more upscale after work/weekend night spot.   I'm not sure what vibe it's trying to go for. Orphey Jean's is my favorite... it's a great gathering/neutral meeting place where people of high incomes, middle incomes, and working class can all gather and hang out.
