Well, he should be angered that his characer has no character growth at all. He's just a baby EJ, obsessing about a child that already has parents. I know he loves Claire, but relax, relate, release Phil. Or catch up on some Dr. Phil.

Urgh. I agree with what they are saying, but I don't want to see him front and center and on my screen every day (and it seems like that is what they are clamoring for). I also think this is the type of petition that Corday will actually listen to and we will end up seeing him on our screens everyday. Enough of that. They had these big plans to make him back bad daddy but IMO he couldn't handle it. It was weird because the intent was clear that they were going to attempt to make him big but then he just dropped off the air and his purpose begun to dwindle. It almost became obvious that Phillip's role in the runaway storyline would dissapear just so the storyline could go on forever and not progress. (Lazy writing...)

If this is from his website maybe there is some obvious tension behind the screen as well and JKJ is revealing that he is not happy with the way his character is going. Anyways they seem like they want to see him every day and I don't think that is going to benefit the show at all.

Jay Johnson sucks. He can't play a villain well. However, the writing for Phillip is laughable at the moment... he isn't his own character. He's simply an obstacle for Shawn and Belle, a supporting player in their story. I'd love to see us get inside his psyche and have a little focus on him for once.

Okay I like the actor and I'm glad hes back. He does have potential and his good looks don't hurt either. HOWEVER like the above poster said he is being written in such a pathetic manner. When will the writers at Days get it? I DO NOT CARE how many times Philip screams that he, "loves Claire" or "Claire is MY daughter" because the simple TRUTH is that she's NOT his. And in real life a person would have walked away from the situation a LONG time ago. Its ridiculous that they have him chasing Shawn and Belle around the world for a baby. If you want a child so badly go have one with Willow. Grow up. Accept the facts and move on. God I'm so sick of the whole Philip aspect of the Shawn/Belle storyline. They could have him do so much more in Salem rather than obsess over a child that is not his.

I like JKJ and I still see potential in Philip despite the inconsistent writing but I don't want him on everyday. I don't think these people do either. I think they are campaigning for Jay to be treated better and to have the writing for him improve. That is all. i hope they get their wish.

I think that storyline was scratched altogether. The surrogate was pregnant with their child at the time Belle was pregnant with her baby. Considering Claire about a year (?) old, I don' think we're ever going to see Mimi and Phillip's child. Yet, there is the possibility of the baby showing up many many years down the road. I would've liked to see this storyline pursued, and how it changed Phillip in terms of his battle for Claire.

Days f*cked up when it came to that storyline. I would have loved to see Philip and Mimi fall in love or something and forget about Shawn and Belle. Instead we see a psychotic man whos obsessed with a child that wasn't his to begin with. Philiip has so much more to look forward to including children of HIS OWN and its a shame that all we see is him screaming everyday or crying like a little boy about Claire. Absolutely outta control. I fear ever since Chole left Salem poor Philip lost his sanity...lol.

    • I haven't seen Melchior in the role, but it would be astounding if she's worse than Linn. Her rivalry with Stephanie was sidelined IMO because Linn was one of the few actors who didn't have chemistry with, nor raise her game, when paired with Susan Flannery. To be fair, she did show some signs of life in scenes opposite Darlene Connelly, but way too little too late. It feels like Bell finally woke up after the Thorne switchover and sidelined the Kristin character with Mick to 1 or 2 appearances a week. As a result, the show improved by leaps and bounds after she was inexplicably at the center of the show for most of 1989. Margo is so much more enjoyable when not tied to that albatross. Even Clarke is watchable with less Kristin interaction. She can't exit stage left soon enough. As for the new Thorne, I agree that Norcross feels like a Forrester a lot more than Thrachta, even if the latter is a better actor.
    • The cast said that scenes were filmed over a few weeks, with a preplanned hiatus in the middle, and it was all out of order.  I would *guess* that they used Chandler when they could get him? They also had to work around Leo Howard getting married around the time these episodes were filmed, but I guess they worked it out since Tate appeared.
    • Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. He still has the full time 9-5 in Atlanta, right? Julie was there. Idk if Maggie’s gonna be a part of it though
    • At this point, the best nonpaywall coverage of Los Angeles (and anything political)  is in...the Tennessee Holler https://bsky.app/profile/thetnholler.bsky.social And as always, emptywheel continues to be consistent https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social
    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
    • Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.
