a rumor tibit have surfaced...

Shawn Brady Sr. once worked for a factory owned by Stefano's father "Tommaso Dimera" in Ireland. At the time, the Dimera empire was a legitimized business. A young troubled Stefano, who had left Ireland years earlier to work for a crimelord in Italy, returned to Ireland with his family for a fresh start and to work for his father. Shawn & Daphne Dimera ended up having an affair and Stefano found out. Stefano's crime-roots prevailed and he lead an armed mob into the town to kill Shawn. They were met by armed fisherman who had hidden Shawn, and a gun battle ensued in the streets. Many men from both sides died, including Tommaso Dimera, who had come to stop Stefano and his mob. Shawn escaped and left Ireland by boat. Stefano vowed revenge on Brady for not only the affair with his wife, but also for the death of his father. Stefano took over the Dimera empire and turned it into the crime-front it is today. Daphne became pregnant and fled Ireland to the Alamain estate, where she gave birth and gave the baby up to her sister Philomena. Years later Stefano would kidnap the baby, Forrest Alamain aka John Black, to turn him into his dominant pawn for his grand revenge against Shawn Brady.

soapfan4life has a great point...

John's parents would be Shawn Sr. and Daphne

Bo's parents are Victor and Caroline...

shelle wouldn't have any blood relation at all...this could work...And it really lines up with the past...why John went by Forrest Alamain...

I think the problem I am having with the story is that I kind of feel let down. I mean ok it makes sense and all but I think I wanted something more, like maybe Shaun Sr. and Stefano were partners along time ago and a deal went bad or something like that, why must it always be about another woman...

That'll never happen.

It's way too detailed and makes way too much sense. It even involves the toy boat ("Shawn escaped and left Ireland by boat") that he received from Stefano a few years back... and all of that has been completely forgotten.

Well, if there is one thing Hogan does, it's researching history so it would not surprise me if this occurs. Also, Cydney Kelly was is on the writing staff and she wrote in 2002 when the toy boat made it's appearance so perhaps she brought that up and it was thrown in. You never know.

I am not saying this is going to be exactly what we get but I think it's going to be pretty close.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
