"JESSE TACKLES STAGE"

We could be seeing a lot more of Jesse Metcalfe in the near future - when he bares all onstage in the West End.The Desperate Housewives hunk is tipped to replace Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) when his run in Peter Shaffer's play Equus finishes.

Jesse, who recently checked into rehab after a four-day drinking binge in LA, will take over the role of a young man with a "religion-erotic obsession with horses", which involves full (not just rear) nudity.

Our spy says: "Jesse is a massive talent and it would be great for him to make his West End debut in Equus."

We wonder what his girlfriend Nadine Coyle has to say about it!

Actually, "Equus" is a pretty reknowned stage production. It premiered on the London stage in 1973 and later on Broadway where it received the Tony Award for Best Play in 1975. The feature film adaptation was nominated for 3 Academy Awards in 1977 including Richard Burton for Lead Actor and Peter Firth (in the role that Metcalfe will be replacing Radcliffe in) for Supporting Actor. This role is a major career coup for Jesse.

I know the show well and frankly, Jesse does NOT have the acting chops to pull it off. He'll probably do to Equus what David Hasselhoff did for Jekyll & Hyde.
