Bucky Covington To Make Televised Grand Ole Opry Debut

Before appearing on the Grand Ole Opry Saturday night, Bucky first visits with Nan Kelly on the set of GAC’s Top 20 Countdown where the video for “A Different World” is quickly climbing the charts. GAC’s Top 20 Countdown airs at 9pm EDT on Friday, April 6th.

American Idol Season 5 finalist Bucky Covington will make his televised Grand Ole Opry debut this Saturday, April 7th. Covington will perform his debut single, “A Different World,” which is already at #27 on the Billboard chart. He will also premiere new material from his self-titled debut CD, set for release April 17th on Lyric Street Records. The Grand Ole Opry airs live at 8pm EDT on GAC.

In conjunction with his Opry appearance, Covington has also donated a variety of memorabilia, including handwritten lyrics to “A Different World” and an autographed shirt worn during the “American Idol” season 5 finale, for an auction that will benefit the Opry Trust Fund. The fund provides financial assistance in times of need to people who were or are actively engaged in country music. Fans can visit www.opry.com through April 18 to bid on items donated by Covington.

I saw his video, randomly, on CMT. He's still bad, but it was better than anything he ever did on IDOL.

I liked Bucky on IDOL, but cannot stand his debut single. However after seeing him on the last half of GRAND OLE OPRY LIVE on GAC, I do like his potential second single. But he's more country now than country rock like he was on IDOL. Bucky did NOT suck on IDOL for the most part. He was pretty good most of the time IMHO.

I live 2 miles from the Grand Ole Opry and I still wouldnt have gone to see him if the show was free! In fact I have never seen a show there and I have lived in Nashville for over 20 years.
