Y&R Discussion: Week of April 2

I'm sure VR had already slammed the door in LML's face when those following scenes were taped...

That said, I thought BlandLily was pretty good. I hated her at the beginning of the week ("Daniel. Is that porrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn on your laptop?") but the screaming and the afternath was more the material CK can handle.

But a special "thanks dear", for proving from actual comparision, that even Passions is now a better written soap than Y&R. Somehow it does not surprise me. Yet, it hurts very badly to acknoledge.

Other random comments besides those blatand continuity mistakes of both writing and hair department on Wednesday and Thursday. The Sharon/Dru friendship once again was about one the best of Y&R these days.

As for who is to blame for the whole cliff drama. One can't totally excuse Dru. She went rampant at Phyllis but it was the latter who finally got Dru off the cliff. Dare I say pushed her? Yes I do.

I absolutely hate Phyllis. More than ever before. That says a lot considering my mood towards Phyllis has changed from cheering love to disgusted hatred the last 14 months already...

Me too. I did until my g-friend took the remote control away from me.:lol::lol:

I thought the whole scene of Dru's fall looked horrendous and beyond cheesy. I was especially disappointed because I ahd heard it somehow looked good!?

The Sharon clinging to Phyllis hand-stuff looked way better. I could accept it on a daytime show but Dru's exit... Anyone seen "Vertigo"? Hitchcock did much better without any computer technique and simpliest measures - 45 years ago!!!

Speaking of "Maggie"? Why was Nick adressing Detective Luncancer on a a first name basis? She's doing an investigation and Nick calls her "Maggie"!? Did he sleep with her and we didn't notice?

WTF!?

Good point. If further (criminal) acts arise from a crime like blackmail, the law is extremely strict - in real life. We know that this not apply to LML's universe at all, though.

EDIT: What I found nice was Victor talking to Devon. I mean, working opposite TGVN is like becoming a knight of the British Empire. :D

I now. That's why I found a nice touch that those two shared a scene although it was extremely odd how Devon was somehow a lose end in this story. Now that I think of it; there was overall too little Devon & Neil - the only Winters who was in a way front and centre was BlandLilly. The story is totally centered around Phyllis so far...

I'm glad that Phyllis is sorry. If she weren't, she'd be that horrible monster from the beginning. She's grown from that. Phyl will always be a bad girl, but that does not mean she has to be a psycho. The guilt is a really good story, and then she is harbouring a secret. The blackmail!

Nature and human decency dictate that human beings are bothered when a life is taken. Phyllis falls into that category. She enjoys pushing people around, but she certainly never meant for a death to occur. This is a great story waiting to happen, and I am immensely excited about this!

    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.
