Members RionPassions
If JER doesn't reunite Shuis, then that means Ethan will marry Whitney, Theresa will get engaged to Sam, Pilar and Grace will turn into lesbians and run off together, Noah will marry both Paloma and Simone, and Jessica will get pregnant by TC. Members nassaunew
This thread started as a Rae thread, but most of the posts have been about Fancy. It reminds me of how other threads become all about Theresa. What is it about Theresa and Fancy that causes so much hatred/dislike, love/like...very little middle ground? I mean, Kay receives around the same amount of screentime as they do, yet I rarely find many posts or reactions on forums regarding Kay, a character who has done a lot of naughty things. Even a Youtube search...see how much Kay lags behind Theresa and Fancy. Why is that?
Members JER Soaps Fan
For some reason, Fancy and Theresa, and perhaps Emily Harper and Lindsay Korman Hartley, as characters and actresses, have REALLY taken off with the fans. Kay, for whatever reason, isn't exactly HUGE, even though she's front burner. I can't explain it better than that.

Members psychofan
Well, I'm just not invested in Kay like I was from 1999-2004 in her evil days. I normally FF through her scenes now, which is something I never thought I'd do. About the Fancy comments, I'm with RionPassions on hating her. She's annoying and I just wish that the peeping tom would KILL HER!!! I used to want her with Noah, but I'm really enjoying him with Paloma. I HATE HER WITH LUIS!!!! If JER doesn't reunite Shuis in the end, I will be so pissed. How can he write a couple for about 5 years only to have it broken up by Fancy Crane?! Members nassaunew
LOL...a *perfect* example of what I mean. Kay = whatever; Fancy = HATE! KILL!; Theresa on other boards = TERROR! (of course, I would say Theresa and Fancy are more liked than disliked, in general) Kay's a heroine, too, but no one seems to care.
Members JER Soaps Fan
 It's true! It really is. I don't know why but it just IS true. No one ever divided fans and caused fights in threads like Theresa did. All the other characters are just "whatever" for the most part and then Fancy comes along and seems to almost instantly become Harmony royalty. She certainly gets the tongues wagging! Who knows why that is? I think it has to do with the character AND portrayer in both cases, though. *I might add: Sheridan may be the only other person that, in her heyday, divided fans* Some loved her and Shuis, some hated her whining and being a victim all the time and called for her REAL death since she is like a cat with nine lives. Members RionPassions
I think Kay still gets the proper amount of hate she deserves. The slutty b!tch is going for Miguel when she's meant for Fox. She kicked off all of Fox's catty games. It's her fault. She deserves to be miserable and alone, or with Fox, and Miguel belongs with Charity.
Members px780
That'd be it in my case. With Kay specifically there's also lingering disappointment over the direction Kay took after DW left the role. It would take a long time, decent writing and/or a really great actress (well...one with either talent or charisma) to make me believe the personality switch in Kay or root for her as the center of a love triangle, which is odd 'cause I always rooted for her when she was on the outside. So it's been too long for me to still be irritated about it, but nobody's put enough effort into making me care in a positive way. At least Theresa and, to a lesser extent, Fancy have been consistent the whole time with actresses committed to the character. On topic with Rae: Meh. At least this character can stay dead. But Jessica/Simone? Eww. Those Russell girls and their crappy taste, man.
Members JER Soaps Fan
I agree that it's hard to buy Kay as "the good girl." Did we even get a transformation? Honestly, I can't remember if being stuck by that thing (whatever it was) and losing her ability to bear children is what turned her character around. . Members nassaunew
After Miguel and Charity left town, Kay's role diminished. She became a more realistic character because she was attending college, working at the cannery and taking care of her baby. Pretty much, she stopped scheming because Miguel was gone. Then, during the tsunami she and Fox hooked up and became a couple. I was never a fan of Sheridan's for the most part, but she was pretty well liked, in general, during the first several years of the show. She never received the amount of hatred that Theresa did - more pity. I think the dislike for Sheridan became more intense around the Antonio fiasco but even then it was more pity than hate. Truly, I think the hatred really started during the time (summer 2005) she ran Luis off to find Marty. It's when many fans turned against her and the Shuis coupling. Now, the hatred for the character is intense (she still has diehard fans, though), but it makes sense since Sheridan is being written this way, though. Members nassaunew
Thinking about it, Theresa (early version) and Fancy are somewhat similar. Younger, fun-loving, daydreaming 'girls' who pursued slightly older established men who were otherwise 'taken' until these girls got their men. JER's even writing Sheridan a bit like Gwen now. Tabloid, destroying gifts, rape enablers

Members PhoenixRising05
I noticed that. In the beginning, they had Sheridan coming off a bit psychotic but now it's more manipulative. She may still go psycho but she is becoming more conniving villianess then nutcase. I can tolerate that better but I still can't buy into her drastic turnaround and this rape story doesn't help. I think we all know why Theresa is popular. As for Fancy, I think she just has the right look. Bottom line is that it comes down to acting. Hartley and Harper are amazing. Mueller is average. Plus, her two leading men are awful. Had she been with Justin Hartley a bit longer it may have been different. Both of Heidi's leading men don't have big followings. Eric Martsolf/Travis Shuldt and Galen Ghering did. Even Dylan Fergus and James Stevenson have pretty good followings. Both Fancy and Theresa were part of signature couples for the show. Fancy has been a part of two of them with Foah and now Lucy. It also helped that they threw Emily Harper with Galen Ghering at a time when Shuis grew stale. She breathed new life in Luis's character and their pairing was something fresh. They are ruining it now but at the time it was working great. Kay doesn't have any of that. She isn't a part of a signature couple. The story she is in is clearly not working with the fans and never really has. Her radical transformation out of nowhere when DW left hurts her too. Either way, Theresa is Passions. Fancy has taken the role that Sheridan used to have. Both actresses can carry this show (more Hartley then Harper since she has been here since day one), especially when given decent material. They can still make crappy material work but when they get decent stuff they are amazing. I can't say the same about Mueller, who is ok but isn't impressive enough to reach the status of the other two actresses.
