GH Does 24, With a Twist

Prepare for another Guza-palooza. General Hospital head writer Bob Guza is famous for his epic, Neilson-sweeps tragedies (colliding trains, towering inferno, killer plaugue). Now he says he'll attempt "something of enormous, unprecedented scope" in soaps. The January 26 episode kicks off with a hostage crisis at the posh Metro Court Hotel and a massive explosion that will involve every major character in Port Charles. Then Guza will turn back the clock 16 hours to reveal what led up to the events. A la Fox's 24, it will happen in real time, one hour per episode. Guza says heroine Robin Scorpio will be shot, "forcing our doctors to operate under conditions they've never dealt with before." Will she survive? Count on it. Guza is planning a revolutionary story in which HIV-positive Robin and her beau, Partick, will try to have a baby.

Sounds good, except from the 'massive explosion'. What's to bet Alan Quartermaine dies in this shooting? Hopefully this story will mark the end of General Sopranos but I doubt it.

I look forward to this. But dear LAWD I don't want to see Laura Wright front and center anymore. And a few others...

I think it will be awesome for Patrick and Robin to try and have a baby. I have a feeling that this will be the end of Alan.

So do I. It will be so neat. I remember back when Robin first got Hiv, I wasn't even watching GH but I saw the epis because of all the buzz behind it and my aunt watching it and I remember thinking that they boxed the character in the corner, that in less than 2 years she would be dead. It is so gratifying to see that all these years later, she is still alive and living her life, really.

Aww. What a great post. I completely agree. I couldn't be happier with the news. :)

Sounds good. Esp. the one hour per episode. ABC should promote the heck out of this. However I still want him fired.

I think this idea sounds pretty cool, I had a feeling they were going to do a real time kind of thing.

The only problem is I hope you can keep up if you miss an episode or two since I usually only watch GH 2 to 3 times per week.
