DAYS: November Sweeps spoilers

I have been talking about those issues for months on this board and at times I got hammered. Of course, some of it was during the JER period but still. The fanbases and all those that don't watch the whole show are really hurting the show. Days is the only one with this problem and while they created it, it was never this bad until a few years ago. If I had my way the EE and other day to day spoiler sites would be shutdown. They hurt the show not the weekly spoilers or whatever. Like GBB said, good writing will combat it but still a good amount of people don't care. They just want their couples together and so on and don't give a rat's behind about the writing. If they did, the numbers for Days would be a little better right now and you would've have so many boards and people already jumping on Hogan and not even giving the guy a chance to get things going. They already think he isn't holding to promises and that he sucks and so on and the guy's stuff has aired like 3 weeks only.

Fans need to give the WHOLE show a try and stick around long enough to watch things play out. Watching certain days and skipping others when their faves aren't on is not going to help people see what the show is about. Quitting after such things as seeing Steve give Billie a gift or something like that is so trivial and stupid. I can't beleive some of the things people quit watching Days over. Quitting a show over JER and his vision and stories is one thing but quitting a show less then a month into a new writer's reign over minor things and not even giving the show a chance is just ridiculous. Days doesn't deserve to be hammered like it is in some places right now. The quality has improved immensely and things are moving along nicely. Patience is needed after all the show went through and fans need to be open to Hogan taking what he inherited and using it to further the show. As much as some may want JER's time erased, it can't be which is why Hogan is taking some of that and working to redefine characters, etc.

Supercouples do limit writers tremendously. Yes you can tell character-driven stories for couples but evnetually there will come a time when a writer will look at a couple and say "What else can they possibly do?" and then it will either be the choice of breaking up or writing the couple. We all know that breaking a couple up is not accepted by Days' fanbases no matter how good the story (unlike Y&R which can do it) so that leaves writing out and the fans won't like that either. What is a writer to do? That isn't the problem now but down the road it is because Days has so many vets and couples that have lasted for 20 years and such. I feel sorry for any HW who gets Days because they have to deal with issues like this and it's tough.

I hope fans become more open to enjoying the whole show and giving Hogan and the show time to impress them. Time is not one week or even one month. Give the show about 3 months and then see if it is going where you want it. That is being fair IMO.

I will have to agree that DAYS relies too much on the "star-crossed lovers" storylines. It does lessen storyline ideas for the couple a great deal. In realistic character meaning terms, Bo and Hope would never cheat on each other. Bo is meant for Hope and Hope is meant for Bo. No one else can come between them. The only reason Billie is still in the picture and has a piece of Bo's heart is because she was there when Hope was presumed dead and that's the only way the other will move on. Someone would have to die.

In reality, no couples are destined to be together and live happily ever after. There are always things life throws at them to come between them (an ex-lover, a new lover, financial problems, children, etc.). I really hope Hogan doesn't go the supercouple route and just write for J&M, S&K, BOPE, LUMI, SHELLE, etc. I'd much rather see Steve and Billie together and EJ and Sami together, as well as Shawn and Willow. And I'm praying TPTB will give Lucas and Belle a chance
