To call what we're watching today on BTG in the same league as old school Y & R, or even soap operas from the 70s, is kind of an insult to both of those things.
Bill Bell always had things going on during the stories even if they took one to two years to tell the story. At the same time, he knew that not every story lasted the same amount of time. The Lisa keeping Brad in a cage story lasted a year or so.. while the David Kimball story lasted two years. And he would pace the stories differently.
Also, from reading summaries of 70s soaps... they didn't drop plots left and right and than pick them up months later. What BTG is doing is lazy storytelling.
