Apparently, Clay Aiken saved Jericho. I found this article at survivorblows.com

Clay Aiken takes credit for saving CBS' canceled 'Jericho' drama

By Christopher Rocchio, 07/06/2007

Clay Aiken apparently has more control over his Claymates than one would think.

"The show Jericho... I loved it. I started blogging about it on my fan site. It got canceled, and I blogged about how upset I was. I said, 'The Claymates can do anything. How do we get this show back on the air?'" Aiken told The Houston Chronicle on Tuesday.

Jericho -- a CBS drama centered on a post-nuclear town in middle America -- was canceled by the broadcast network when it announced its 2007-2008 primetime programming line-up in mid-May. However CBS was bombarded with emails and nuts -- a reference to a catchphrase in the show -- and on June 6 the network announced it had purchased seven new episodes of Jericho for broadcast as a mid-season replacement. So where did the grassroots campaign start?

"Honestly, within a week [the Claymates] had organized a campaign amongst Jericho fans to send nuts to CBS," Aiken told The Chronicle. "It kind of started in that place. And it's back on the air! It just blows my mind."

An unabashed fan of television, Aiken told The Chronicle he feels he'd be "great" on the tube and added he has "probably 15, 17 different shows" to pitch.

"One of the basic ones would just be going around and letting America tell their story. Everybody has a story, if you let them tell it," Aiken told The Chronicle.

However Aiken apparently hasn't forgotten his roots if he were to land a recurring role on television.

"I'd love to have a variety show," he told The Chronicle. "Like Andy Williams or Carol Burnett or Donny and Marie [Osmond]. I remember my mom watched the Mandrell sisters' show like it was some sort of religion."

And Aiken would probably have a good support base if he ever wanted to start his own religion. Apparently he could just call on the Claymates.

Last night was the Season Premiere of Jericho. Did anyone watch last night? I tried to, but it's just not one of my shows, but I have a feeling that I'm going to be watching it more now that I have get togethers on Tuesday nights and my friends LOVE this show! I don't know why I can't get into it though... it just reminds me of that other show The Unit that use to come on CBS at 10/EST with the military stuff and all.

    • I had a situation last week where I could watch the new episode on Paramount Plus on my laptop, but it wasn't even listed on my TV as an option.

    • I'm trying to think whether AW had anything remotely resembling that once Steve was killed off and Alice left a widow. So many young love stories were wrapped up either by marrying and leaving town or marrying and killing off one party. Maybe they acted in the final year as if Vicky and Jake had been that couple all along, but they both had better other mates along the way and also Jake was actively hostile to Vicky at too many points without any subtext of caring about her.

️, so all the more time to watch/rewatch these past three scorching episodes. What were some of your favorite moments? @beyondthegatescbs
    • Beth Ehlers thanked Beth Chamberlain by name from the mic saying she was THE BEST person to be in a triangle with.  Generally speaking I loved Judi's Beth but then also strongly liked BethC's Beth but I did not like the whole Lorelei stage!!!
    • Yep, it seemed temporary, lasted 3-5 minutes, then BACK! Yea.  Thanks.
    • Oh but those "Pharleys" were very adamant that they stay together and be featured everyday (though I did like their websites and the recaps they gave each day.) I agree, they were interesting at first, but the longer it went on the more Harley became this sad sack jealous wife, the more Phillip became a dumb Josh type character torn between two women and the more Beth became a pathetic looser chasing her ex.   I think after Beth came back it would have been an interesting triangle of three "good" people trying to find a way, and I did like the "Who killed Carl" and how Harley and Beth had to work together there, but we all know Phillip would have dumped Harley to get together with Beth, Harley would have been hurt but dusted herself off and moved on, and eventually Beth and Phillip would implode. They didn't bring back one Reardon or Bauer for Mo's funeral...did anyone think they would waste money and energy on poor sad Nadine?
