Y&R: Dru, Carmen and Neil...

It is what it is. Dru has become a pathetic creature. :(

As for the Jazz club, this is yet one more issue I have with this whole ridiculous story.

A Jazz club? A jazz club? When has Neil EVER shown an interest in jazz?

This whole jazz thing reminds me of when Victor tossed his old jet at Neil like he was a simple dog, and Neil lapped it up. Neil settled for a jet when he really wanted to be on the board.

So, as a viewer, I am to believe that after ALL these years of Neil playing doormat to the Newmans, all he ends up with is a jazz club? Something he could have had without an ivy league education?

Neil doesn't have enough common sense to sell the jet and use the capital to get a real company up and running? To make a name for himself in the business world? He settles for a jazz club?

I don't think LML is showing that Neil is sprung on Carmen: I think LML is showing that Neil NEVER deserved to be on the Newman board.. that Neil is a bullying schmuck.

Jazz club indeed.

Well I like Edward.

In addition, DruRocks this is more than a black/white argument...I barely brought that up in my post (mostly because Y&R doesn't suffer from the same affliction as ABCD). However, if you feel as though you still have nothing to add...I understand. :)

That's a long standing debate with ABCD... and they still have yet to improve it.

I have a feeling Dru/Neil situation will get worse, before it hopefully gets better.

I now can't stand to watch Dru. Watching her beg Neil makes me turn off the set. I will not watch. I cannot watch. I'm embarrassed for her, and I shudder to think that VR approves of this story. I shudder to think that VR subscribes to the motto that it's okay to denigrate the black woman, as long as the black union continues on, in all it's grotesquely stereotypical plot formations.

I ask myself what I am watching Dru make a fool of herself over and over and over again instead of her moving on to a new man.

 There's a lot to cover in your post, but I'm going to just touch on this point here.

I don;t see this a a color/race issue. While I agree it is making me SICK to DEATH to watch Dru act this way over Neil, I also know it's because "I" have never liked his high-falootin', sanctimonious ass. IMO, Nathan treated her better than Neil did and never looked down on her as he taught her to read and polish herself to her new surroundings. However, Dru loves Neil. This is her husband, a man she's spent two decades of her life with. 20 years is a LONG time. They had their problems, but never to this degree. Never something where she actually felt like he wouldn't forgive her for pulling one of her ill-conceived impetuous stunts. I don't see her subscribing to a motto. I see her choosing to try to hold a formerly strong marriage together instead of just hopping into bed with other men like everyone else in Genoa City does when they encounter marital woes. Although tiring and drawn out for the usual soapdom fare, I find it to be more REAL to life. Telling Neil to kiss her ass and turning her back would be funny, and make for some enlightened posting, but in the end, it wouldn't be Dru...or ANY woman who truly loves her husband. It burns me up how SHE stood by HIM when nobody else would (his drunken stage, when he was passed over how many times for a Newman board seat, etc) and he just turns his back on her to salivate over some whore who blows into town and coos some sensual words at him.

With that said, I'd like to see this wound up SOON so that Dru can move on and ultimately find peace one day in the fact that she truly TRIED and this fool wouldn't give her a second glance. With him constantly telling Carmen how attracted he is to her  and all that, he and Dru need this divorce. I hope she will find the man who will be her equal and Neil will be the one on the outside looking in wondering how he let her get away. With his little !@#$%^&*] ass.

For a while, LML seemed to struggle with finding a story for Dru and Neil. Now that they have story, it seems more a consequence of a writer that threw something together after having a stereotype brain-storming session than someone that took the time to figure out who these characters are and have become from 15+ years of history and creating a story upon that.

You have nailed it completely.:angry::angry:

I don't see this as a color issue. I see it as a Latham has favorites issue. She at times writes characters she doesn't like into the ground. Also, its clear that she doesn't really know the character of Dru. She's turned her into a pathetic wimp when Dru is a strong person. She may do stupid things, but Dru wouldn't allow Neil to disrespect her the way he does yet run after him like a dog.

I may not like aspects of this storyline like Neil manhandling her, but I am so glad that they are front and center. I just don't want the characters destroyed in the process.
