Are OLTL/DAYS fans equally upset about Missy and Matt or Austin and Carrie?

Or are we just trying to find a reason to give HigPEE and Valentinipepe, a hard time. I hate them just as much as the next guy, but I haven't seen anyone getting on Hogans/Corday/Wynman's case about all of the vets they are firing. Missy and Matt have been around way longer than Dan or Heather.. Now i love Dan and Heather, and Love Hogan, but it is something i have noticed. Fans are more quick to cuss out Higley and Tini for it because we hate them. If Hogan was OLTL HW and wrote them out and say Lynn Marie Latham was EP, would we be mad??

A quick honest answer to your question: Probably not.

Days fans have always been more vocal. The OLTL fans may be as upset, just not as vocal.

Depends. If One Life continued to be The Michael Easton Show, in my case, yes. But if the writing were that much better (and by better I include a more ensemble approach) I might be willing to suffer a few sacrifices.

Well first off, DAYS and OLTL are completely different shows run by people who have different visions of what their show should be about.

I don't know if you read the DAYS threads, but there were members getting into fights about Austin & Christie getting fired from DAYS. Fans of Matt Ashford on DAYS, and this is just my opinion, have sorta become immune to him being fired since it happens a lot. As far as Missy goes, she quit. She chose not to renew her contract (like Heather Tom) so people aren't upset with her for leaving, but I'm sure they're disappointed. But you can't blame her for leaving, especially when she had to deal with shitty writing.

Some fans will be happy with the firings and some won't, but the general idea is there is a new writer and this writer will have a different vision for DAYS.

The problem with OLTL is that Dan and Heather are one of the most talented people on the cast and yet they get stuck with shitty storylines and not enough airtime. They fired Dan for a BS reason and fans are angry b/c of the bs reason he was fired. Had ABC come out and said they fired Dan for any other reason besides what the focus groups said, I'm sure many would be angry but wouldn't be livvid.

There are many more unlikeable characters (even if they aren't written that way) who deserve to go before a legacy character like Kevin.

To answer your question, I doubt Dan would have been fired under Hogan and Lynn Marie Latham.

LOL

hey, I don't think Chandler would expect it to happen, either.

but you did get an earful on your "what if" question ;)

DOOL knew there were cuts coming, and that there were a lot of them -- and it is a result not necessarily all of HS's choice, but dictated by budget constraints. There doesn't seem to be bringing on a huge number of new characters, but they did return a few choice ones.

At OLTL, Dan and Heather are being let go by production's decision as they have just brought on a huge number of new characters - and renegotiated a suspected very high contract. For those who may already be sick of the McBain show, it is a slap in the face to lose two other talented performers, even if they had been wasted. As for being vocal, many are tired and demoralized as we've seen older favorites whittled away to virtually nothing.

I don't think the two have anything to do with each other.

Why sure they do. Dan was fired because Heather chose to leave and Matt was because Missy chose to leave.

They're entirely different situations. Days is going through major behind-the-scenes shifts in preparation for a new regime and their budget's been slashed. What's OL's excuse?

Ummmmmmmmm.....you've totally got your facts wrong. Dan was fired because the focus groups said that Kevin was an "unlikeable" character. A few days later, it was revealed that Heather was not signing a new contract with OLTL. Dan was not fired b/c Heather chose to leave.

And for the record, Missy announced she was leaving BEFORE Ashford signed a new contract with the show. Shortly after signing his new contract, DAYS announced they were cutting him. So no, they don't have anything to do with each other.

I don't believe we know the real facts. Focus Group was the excuse given but I suspect it had more to do with a certain actor getting more money so cuts were made elsewhere. We'll never know for sure.
