Honestly as absurd as this sound I think EJ is a reason for firing them. If you really think about it, EJ is a HIT with the fans for some mysterious reason. Everyone loves him. (Personally I don't know why, I am not to fond with the guy). The writers probably figure they could do a good Sami/Lucas/EJ triangle, instead of doing the whole Lucas/Sami/Austin/Carrie for the 100th time. And then there is also the fact the Days has survived without Austin and Carrie.

If that's the case, EJ 's on the top of my all time favorite characters list. Any character whose responsable for one of DAYS most useless characters (Carrie) being written off can't be all that bad but it's sad if the Days writers can't write for Austin and Carrie without Sami and Lucas in the picture though it would explain why Carrie and Sami must always share the same storyline (I can't recall those two ever being being in a story that did not somehow involve the other when they are on the show at the same time)

I feel bad for Austin and Christie for losing their jobs but I'm thrilled. It's the best thing to happen since Brady being witten off.

Peck did improve, but then he went back to sucking majorly on yesterday's episode.

Christie is a good actress. Unfortunately, her type of character is not what most soap fans want nowadays. Thanks to writers focusing more on the "wicked" characters while ruining the so-called "good" characters, many fans can't or won't root for Carrie because they're biased towards characters like Sami. It's a shame. We need characters that aren't always so manipulative or evil for balance. But the writing for Austin and Carrie, under JER, sucked. JER can't see outside of triangles or quads, and Corday doesn't see characters as individuals either.

But like I've said before, Peck and Clark leaving isn't the death of DAYS. At least not to me.

ITA. I prefer good girls like Carrie and Marlena to snarky !@#$%^&*]es like Sami, and I can't believe people would choose to root over a baddie like Sami over someone who's all around nice and good. Manipulative !@#$%^&*]es should be shot, not worshipped.

I agree with Crystal_Ann.

Even though someone's a fan of Austin & Carrie as a COUPLE, can that person honestly say that Carrie is NOT boring? I have to mute the TV when she's on.

Although, when the actress cries, she does a great job. :)

While thereis a small patr of me that will miss Carrie and Austin I think I will be much happier to see this stupid love quadrillateral end once and for all. Just let Austin and Carrie go off together and be happy. Enough is enough. Though they really could have done alot more with their characters. I do feel bad for the actors.

What would I love to see in all these budget cuts? Cut out Marlena and John. I know that isn't popular with alot on this board (though for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone enjoys watchng them) but they make me want to stop watching more than anything else. Or at least just keep them together for more than 5 minutes and let them be part of a storyline that isn't based on their tormented love. I know they are a super couple but I think their ship has sailed.
