  1. Yes, whatever that was, whether it was DAYS or PSSN VW did have a part but backed out when something she learned about it, sent up a red flag.
  2. During this period of time, 3 P&G/NY soaps had a number of events that had negative impact & also there was an unusually high amount of upheaval in leadership. I'm speaking of ATWT, AW & GL. In Jan. '93 on GL Maureen Bauer died. In Mar '93 the ATWT HW Douglas Marland unexpectedly died. In Aug. '96 on AW Frankie Frame was murdered. In Sept. 2005 Mary Alice Dwyer Dobbin retired & P&G chose not to replace her, instead doing without the position Executive in Charge of Daytime Programming. At NBC (AW) Susan D. Lee was head of daytime. At CBS (ATWT & GL) Felicia Minei Behr was Head 1987-1995, followed by Barbara Bloom 2003-2011. In 1995 P&G did a kind of executive "musical chairs" moving JFP, John Valente & Michael Laibson from one show to another. Laurence Caso was left without a chair, and so retired. Also in 1995 CBS made a public threat of cancelling GL, and maybe ATWT too. An article in the "LA Times" touted them asking Bill Bell to create a new soap to replace the aging GL. I call it a threat because apparently Bill Bell had no interest at all in creating a new soap for them. Many people think this was a strategy, to get P&G in a possibly more agreeable relationship with CBS. Basically they wanted P&G to say: We'll do anything you ask, just please do not cancel us. It concluded with CBS giving up the idea of a new soap but requiring certain things of P&G. Both Elana Levine ("Her Stories") and Lynn Liccardo ("As the World Stopped Turning") have written about these shows at this time. All 3 soaps had turnover in the EP position but what was possibly more egregious was the turnover in HWs. You can see this in many reference sources.
  3. I really enjoyed the wedding & it was great because it was so like a classic wedding from "days gone by." Plus, the writing provided such a feel of community. I didn't like Violet & her song or her catching the bouquet with an assist by Jordan. Ned should've been in a better suit. But those are my only criticisms & for something that big & over 3 days, that is remarkable. I liked or loved everything else. Then, the real action, the first real action in awhile & I loved all the soapy goodness of all of that drama. I hated that Carly had to wipe Sonny's nose for him again but I liked that Jason was right outside listening to everything so it was if she wasn't really alone. I loved Joss & Sexy Dexy being there together through the crisis. I loved Kristina coming to realization after realization. I like that being with Blaze she seems to be both smarter & a better person. I applauded Dante FINALLY telling Sonny off! What? Whatever it was it flew right by me & made a whooshing sound as it passed. If my middle brother, the addict I had to deal with as a family member, were alive, today would be his birthday. He'd be 68. And, as his birthday always reminds me today is Hitchhiker's Guide "Towel Day". Douglas Adams, thanks for all the fish! 42.
  4. DAYS Which LGBTQ+ soap storyline would you rather watch? Bianca on AMC or Nuke on ATWT? Madonna Would you rather have dinner with Joni Mitchell or Barbra Streisand?
  5. Next time, identify the problem. Here's just one list of web soaps. https://nypost.com/2018/09/14/these-online-soaps-will-steam-up-your-screen/
  6. Thank you. That's what I came to think he was talking about rather than any on the list of what I see called web soaps. There wasn't any argument. There was confusion. The topic needs renaming. If no one else is going to do so, ... @Toups Can you change this topic name to be something like "Today's Prose Soaps"? Thanks!
  7. @Maxim Love your new avatar & sig banner. @SteelCity So, if I try to sort this you want this topic to be about "web soaps" that exist only in script form. Is that it? If so, I think that is incredibly confusing & misuses the term when there are web soaps that are filmed. So, why not call them something else to be clear?
  8. What do you mean it's not filmed. Of course it is. What do you mean "told in writing form". I don't care about any links. I own all of the DVDs for Seasons 1 through 6. So, what links, where , ... is giving you this totally wrong impression?
  9. It's a soap, it's on the web, it's been listed as a web soap, it is serialized, it has won an Emmy in a special category for web soaps, so, you're gonna have to explain to me why it does not fit here.
  10. I am an OG fan who continues to be a fan of venicetheseries, now in the planning stage for Season 7.
  11. Well, I now have confirmation from someone who worked at GL at the time & who was himself propositioned by Conboy, we were correct, John Conboy had NO affair with an actress on GL. But, he did have a fling with a soap journo. Yes, of course, a man. Actually quite a nice guy, liked him a lot. He was at Weekly.
  12. @DRW50 You might be interested. If you do Facebook, I recommend this group to you https://www.facebook.com/groups/1500292994035731 It's Kim Wells's group, new as of this year & she has me as a co-admin just to help her out. And, all it is, is AW full episode uploads. Kim has some stuff not found anywhere else. But, right now all of her uploads are 1990s. You may recall that she had her long-time AW group hacked last year & lost it. So, she is starting again but this time just concentrating on full episodes, not discussion. Although if someone had something to say about an episode I am sure it would be welcome. Edit to Add: Kim's just announced that she's going to begin uploading earlier episodes too.
  13. Odd but interesting, I guess, it's a choice. The press site did episodics for 5-23-24, basically pictures of people being sad.
  14. GH May 2024 Lines "I'm not looking back. I'm not looking at the past. I'm not going that way." - Carly to Nina, GH, 5-13-24 "Has anyone told you, you have a great seat?" - Cody to Tracy, GH, May '24 "No. Don't. I don't want to hear it. No, don't. Please go." - Kristina to Sonny, GH, 5-20-24 "My dad beating & kicking Dex. He was going to kill him." - Kristina to Blaze, GH, 5-20-24 "I think he wanted to kill me." - Dex to Anna, GH, 5-22-24 "I feel like such a fool. Everyone tried to tell me. I just kept defending him. I didn't & don't recognize him. He said he was going to empty a gun into their heads." - Kristina to Blaze, GH 5-21-22
  15. Robert Calhoun, longtime partner of Farley Granger, was also noted as EP at GL, too. They also wrote a book together. In 1963 in NYC Farley Granger was appearing in Arthur Miller's classic American tragedy, "The Crucible" on Broadway. Robert Calhoun was the Production Superviser. That is when they met but they were friends only for a time until they realized, basically, they were each other's destiny.
  16. William Roerick (GL Henry Chamberlain) & longtime partner actor & screenwriter Thomas Coley
  17. I feel sure it is specious but I thought I'd check.
  18. Putting it out into the universe that Vile-ette is singing - like oh god - My Way or any classic is making me nervous!!
  19. Recently in a TwiX conversation about GL under John Conboy I was asked which actress he had an affair with. So I made a sarcastic reply about what he would DO with a woman-just talk or read poetry. However, was this actually a thing?
  20. Sometimes stuff does come out. But it's not because of Alan, but in spite of. That said, he is still a good venue for this stuff. And, he means well. And, he loves the genre.
  21. Loving him as Neil's 'another brother'. Also love the antagonism. However, today to me, was Tracy & Liz.
  22. @janea4old Agree validity w/o romantic pairing. Agree Trina a major young female lead. Agree generally. Huge agree Taggert!
  23. LOVED Finola & LW. Loved that little shade Carly aimed at Ava, ignoring her the rest of the time. More than a little peeved we did not see Tracy get the news of Gregory's passing. Oops. I jumped to an unfounded conclusion! My bad. LOVED Liz suddenly finding her backbone. It had been MIA for such a long time. Giovanni is a lovely name. Don't care for "Gio." But, also really like "G." I didn't see it coming, his moving into the Q mansion. So far, works, we'll see. I count myself among the people who think he may be for Trina. One brave soul on TwiX has suggested what if he's for Aiden? IDK.
  24. So, I watched Dee on "Hacks" last night & I'll post in the other thread about it but here I just wanted to say that all the people who have said that the lighting on DAYS sucks eggs, were all 100% correct. The comparison makes it incredibly obvious! Greg Vaughn was amazing! One little thing I loved is that in the biggest, most dramatic part of his fight with Sloan, his hair looks awful, like it hasn't seen a comb in weeks, and GV's hair is always immaculate! Yesterday & today were so good for DAYS!!!
