  1. Getty Images- I have a subscription through my job, and I saved all the old archived soap photos and all the photos from the ABC archives that were on there.
  2. Agreed. While I think that it would have been nice for all of them to have made more appearances over the years after they left (Mark most of all- there were SO many times his presence was needed), I liked that both Chuck & Donna and Mark & Ellen got to ride off into the sunset and got their happily ever afters. From 1987:
  3. I watch the old Home and Away episodes on 7Two all the time! So many characters I'd forgotten about (like Carly!) and I love seeing people like Ailsa and Fisher again. What's the youtube channel that has all the old episodes up? I don't watch the newer episodes all that much, so I can't say much about how she acts now, but Marilyn has always been silly and goofy. She always talked too much and always got in other people's business. Once Marilyn left (the second time after being married to Fisher), Colleen came back and took over that role, but I guess now that she's back (and Colleen's gone again), she's back to being the town busybody. Is she still friends with Irene? I remember way back when her, Irene, and Bobby were all living in what's now Irene's house (that was before Irene's house became where all the town strays lived).
  4. Mitt Romney, his wife, and his staff/advisors are some of the most arrogant, self entitled people I've ever seen. That comment is just flat out racist. The "American Arrogance" and the ideas that "America is the best" and "everyone wants to be American!" are such huge problems, and I doubt it will get any better if Romney gets elected. Just look at the situation, my family is in now. My little sister was born in the US and is despite being born to two non-US citizens is a citizen. We're trying to get that citizenship denounced and have her declared an Australian citizen and the US is making it extremely difficult. First it was that she should be honoured to be American, that it was a privilege that "many around the world" would like to have, and that they couldn't imagine anyone giving it up and it was denied. They now want us to take her to the embassy and have her testify (alone) in front of a bunch of people to see if this is she what she really wants or if its her family trying to "coerce her into it". Just such arrogance.
  5. Irene is the one with the drinking problem- I remember when she first showed up to try and get her kids away from Pippa and she was a raging drunk. I think she's been recovering for a while now. Anyway, I didn't even realise Colleen was still on the show; anytime I ever watch Home and Away, I never see her. I don't think she's been used as anything but the town busybody for years and years now. I guess the only longtime people left are Alf, Irene, and Marilyn. I can't imagine the show without Alf and Irene.
  6. Totally. And since I'm on an old school All My Children kick, here's a picture of Benny and Donna (Candice Earley and Vasili Bogazianos) from a few years ago. Did she retire? She's done nothing since her AMC days.
  7. 1990/1991 it is then! From the 25th Anniversary:
  8. I'm not a expert (and I wasn't alive for the original Heather stuff), but I don't think the Luke stuff started till she came back in 2004. I could be totally wrong though.
  9. There's actually a clip from around that same time where Al and Max talk about Gabrielle and Luna and Max tells Al that while Luna was the "love of his life" that didn't mean he didn't love Gabrielle too. If you haven't seen it MissLlanviewPa, I have it and will try to get it uploaded on YouTube soon.
  10. For some reason, I'd forgotten all about Steve getting married. The last I remember was him and Dusty getting engaged but then they kept postponing it and putting it off. That was all going on while I was on a holiday visiting my family, so I guess the Steve stuff happened after that. I think Len's relationships were just talked about and implied. Lolly has been around since at least the late 90s. Losing Ashley Callie and Leone definitely left a hole in the show. I definitely really hit the show hard. Did Farrow kill her brother? I vaguely remember that. I agree they should have not gotten rid of her. Her exit was depressing too.
  11. LOL- it definitely looks like she's doing just fine. Here's a recent photo of Rosa Nevin (Cecily from All My Children) from late 2011- she's apparently doing a lot of theater in Chicago:
  12. It was definitely controversial- one of my work colleagues from New Zealand loves Shortland Street and was complaining about it even though I don't think the episodes have even aired in Australia yet (we're at June 2010 right now I think).
  13. Egoli was definitely always my favourite of the three when I was younger (Binnelanders and Villa Rosa came on the air later). I loved the American soap operas like GH (which they didn't get in South Africa), AMC, OLTL, and B&B and Egoli felt closer to those shows than the other two. At the time, I remember thinking Generations moved so slow lol. Plus, my mother liked Egoli so she would always have it on. I think the actress who played Letti had HIV in real life too- I wasn't living in South Africa at the time, but I think my grandmother or cousin told me that. Dusty did come back for that story- did they leave together? I know she came back, they got engaged and then she left again, but I can't remember if he left with her or not. Joey and Kyle were brother and sister (Joey was the girl)- there was a huge mystery about them when they first showed up and she was pretending to be a journalists but it turns out she wasn't or something (I've forgotten all the details of when they first arrived lol). She then dated Leon and Kyle got involved with Lolly.
  14. Quick question- I have a bunch of AMC stuff that I just converted and even though I'll put everything up that I have (I still haven't gotten everything converted yet so I'm not even sure what all I have), since it takes me a while to get stuff converted, edited, and uploaded, I thought I'd see what people would be the most interested in first and go ahead and get that up and then work on the rest Right now, I have the following stuff converted and ready to be edited and uploaded: a ton of 1990/1991 stuff with Donna, Chuck, Emily Ann, Dixie and Tad, Billy Clyde and stuff from 1993 with Laurel, Jack, Trevor, Kendall & Anton
  15. Jensen Buchanan is apparently divorced from the husband she was living in Vermont with and is now married to Sam Gores (the CEO of Paradigm Talent Agency) and living in Beverly Hills. Here's an article about them purchasing their house in Beverly Hills (it's below the stuff about Kelsey Grammer): http://articles.latimes.com/2006/may/28/realestate/re-hotprop28\ Here's an article about her current husband: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Gores This is the most recent photo I could find of her:
  16. A few more things about AMC's 25th Anniversary: From the January 15th, 1995 Los Angeles Times: From the December 8th, 1994 Los Angeles Times: From America Online news: I wonder what happened with Debbi Morgan's appearance? It seems like her not appearing in the episode was a last minute thing.
  17. Ugh, I know. One of the worst and most tasteless exits ever.
  18. I posted the final episode on youtube but I had to cut that part out because of copyright issues and the song being blocked in several countries.
  19. For MissLlanviewPa- Like I said, I have his whole last month, but I thought I'd go ahead and put up his last day <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h3hVFuNObv0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZvBUo03EvqQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  20. All of those have been around a while, and so has Cherel (although I think she left for a bit and then came back). I didn't know that Letti had left I haven't seen it in a few years (we don't get it in Australia) but I always liked Harriet, Cherel, Letti, Dusty, Joey, and Kyle (the last three have been long gone so you might not be as familiar with them as you probably are the other three). It's funny that you say Generations reminds you of As the World Turns because my grandmother looooves Generations (and Eastenders) and loved As The World Turns and Another World, but doesn't like Isidingo or DAYS and didn't like Egoli- she says she likes the "human" aspect of Generations and ATWT as opposed to the "campy and ridiculousness" of something like DAYS. I actually found a tape the other day that had a bunch of Isidingo, Generations, and Egoli on it. I'll try to get that up on youtube soon.
