  1. I am so optimistic about this show. I hope this leads to a golden age of soaps reclaiming their spots as must-see TV and a new generation of shows sprout from this.
  2. Agreed. Plus, he has always said one of his favorite characters to write for was Gilly on Guiding Light. And during his time on GL (along Nancy Curlee), the Grants and Speakes thrived.
  3. (re: the acid) I understand. I just hate how the Barton boys were wasted at the altar of Dingle women (specifically Debbie). That's always been my main gripe with them.
  4. 🤣 I knew this would be your reaction. I just had to share that with you.
  5. Correct. My MAC stays trying to autocorrect my stuff.
  6. I thought the whole ordeal with Ronan ending up being Nina's child, who was sold to the black market was a major flop. I feel like a major historical moment in the history of a legendary Y&R character (Nina) past should've been well-planned and taken months to a year to unwind. It was just used to put Chance/Ronan at odds over Chloe. Bringing John Aprea back in that horrid Alexander Nikos story. At that stage, it was growing old of folks from Carl's past coming back and wreaking havoc on Bay City. The show had just got over the whole ordeal with Justine, which was horrific and resulted in Ryan dying. Then Blair Baker came blowing into town and that story went nowhere. At that point, I was over it. Let Carl and Rachel settle down and enjoy the twins. The only good thing that came out of that story was Felicia falling through the skylight, which was a good sweeps stunt. Crystal Chappell returning to DAYS and latching her to Daniel and Melanie was a flop. Lawrence should not have been killed. Carly/Bo/Hope should've been written better. Nicholas should've been brought back and tossed in Abby's orbit, sending Jack and Jennifer into a tizzy. Speaking of the Alamains, undoing John as Lawrence's brother was dumb. And the whole Colleen Brady/Santo Dimera and John being their child. Hogan Sheffer needed to be throttled over that story. Just, ugh. The Bradys and Dimeras did not need to be connected going back generations. Their history over Stefano's obsession over Marlena and the pawn saga was enough. I think this epic fail was more inhumane than anything, and that's MADD allowing Michael Zaslow (Roger) to stay on GL and for Roger to die. I've mentioned in the GL thread how I feel they should've handled Zaslow's condition and how Roger should've been written off, but it was a failed opportunity to draw eyes back to GL during a time when GL was waffling in the ratings.
  7. Agreed. I don't think she's a horrific EP when she stays in her lane. But she needs to be paired with a writer who will challenge her and tell her GTFO of the writer's room and focus on budgets. But I think that has become an issue across all forms of entertainment. Nowadays everyone wants to have their hand in the creative process instead of doing their assigned roles. This goes for network heads, too.
  8. Well, she has the knack to jump ship once she mortally wounds a show and latches on to another one. I get GL snagging her b/c she was an EMMY machine on SB. And I somewhat understand them moving her to AW; however, after she wounded those shows, ABC was stupid to let her get her hands on OLTL and GH. And CBS was stupider for letting them get her grubby hands on Y&R in the social media era where fans stay openly expressing their disdain for TPTB in a central social media forum (typically Twitter). And I also don't care for JFP b/c she doesn't own her sh*t. Case in point--killing Frankie Frame. She unnerves me with how she changes history and says she doesn't say she was on the show when it occurred. Ma'am, your name is in the closing credits. You were there. Might've been when your time was winding down, but you were there and you signed off on it, which puts you at fault.
  9. And show alone displayed how she didn't need to produce anything.
  10. This goes back to my earlier point--why not try your (meaning JFP) hand at primetime and get immersed in those circles? She clearly had the fight in her to keep getting hired in daytime circles. She should've tried to penetrate the primetime circles. She might have landed something. But we desperately needed her out of daytime b/c her touch on all these shows are why they are all either dead or on life support (Y&R and GH).
  11. Sadly, I hate there is a trail of dead soaps that had to fall victim to their resentment.
  12. Agreed. I do think that AW enjoyed doing theatre and pantomine while not on EE. Sadly, that might not be enough to pay the bills. (re: Cindy's assault/Ian breakdown) Yes, it is hard to recreate the wheel; however, the attempt they tried to take fell flat. And there will be no longterm payoff for whoever assaulted Cindy. It'll be swept under the rug, and Cindy will spend all of this year plotting to get revenge. It'll be an endless cycle until someone (Cindy or the culprit) opts of leave the show, which is when someone will meet a grizzly demise, go to prison, or flee the Square. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.
  13. This always bothered me. There are tons of people at the height of daytime, who would've loved to have written for the genre (many of us on this forum included). However, you had people who looked down on the genre and only did it for a "job." If she (along with Pratt, Guza, etc.) felt they belonged in primetime, they should've went for those jobs and made connections. I never understood why Pratt and Guza returned to daytime when they wrote for many of Aaron Spelling's primetime shows.
  14. I always thought Cindy and Ian being back together was stupid. It logically made no sense given how Cindy hired someone to kill Ian at one point. And Ian later took the kids from her and played a hand in her going to prison. If anything, they should be mortal enemies. From the clips I've seen, watching Ian be blind to Cindy was pathetic. I agree that I am stunned that Adam Woodyatt even returned. The only good thing that emerged out of Cindy's return was her hatred for Bobby. It held true to Cindy. And I said previously that this regime knocked off Pauline's death with Cindy's assault minus Cindy dying. Hell, didn't she fall in the same spot as Pauline? But this is why I say the UK soaps need to go back to kitchen sink drama. They have become too modern day Americanized by focusing heavily on murder, doom, and gloom.
  15. It won't matter regardless because whoever the fandom chooses, the writers can easily undo it by Xmas by having her have an epiphany. I find both pairings to be toxic. For once, I'd like Denise to have a healthy relationship. I know I was in the minority back then, but I wish EE had not messed up Denise and Ian being a possible pairing.
  16. The three you mentioned are the only ones I like, too. And I (too) have always said Jackie was the real villain. How she escapes scrutiny boggles and unnerves me. Especially, last year.
  17. Oh! Quad the Fraud is a sneaky little thing. I see her play a mile away. She obviously is having Jackie and Phaedra turn their fangs at each other. Killing two birds with one stone. Honestly, I think these women underestimate Phaedra and Bravo's adoration for her. Yes, they won the battle by running her off the show, but Bravo (and Phaedra) will win the war. And y'all know this is shocking coming from me, who cannot stand Phaedra. But I can't stand Hellishly, Quad, and Jackie either.
  18. I'm glad to hear Brooke has her moxy back. I hope she reverts back to early 90s b*tchy Brooke, who ran Forrester with an iron fist. The company was in better shape when she ran it.
  19. Just tacky and wimpy. As someone who has been let go via the phone, it think it is the most cowardly thing an employer can do. Especially, to an employee that gave blood, sweat, and tears to your organization. Furthermore, it should've been a sign to JFP that maybe the choice she was about to make (getting rid of Ellen Parker) was stupid and would forever damage (not only GL) but the entire genre.
  20. Oh wow. If true, then that makes total sense. I'd imagine that this would possibly apply to Emmerdale, too. This isn't a good sign. Maybe the model needs to be shifted and they might need to cut back on weekly episodes; however, I do agree that they need to trim a good portion of the cast.
