Meredith's show is doing well, plus the money is incredible compared to the salary she was paid during The View. Lisa Ling is a "serious journalist" now and lives mostly in Chicago with her doctor husband, last I heard, so I don't see her returning.

I don't think the grind of a talk show and her relationship status have anything to do with the other. Throughout The Rosie O'Donnell Show she was with her partner (later wife) Kelli Carpenter, it's just that it wasn't public knowledge. Rosie's on medication for depression for sure. She may be on other medications related to blood pressure or cholesterol, but her gastric sleeve surgery has been a mammoth success and she's lost a huge amount of weight and is likely far healthier than she's been in 20 years.

I like Rosie O'Donnell, she is a personality who has evolved and that evolution shows how the entertainment business doesn't always treat human beings as flawed people. She's right to quit The View. It is what it is. I just hope she's got enough money lined up to secure her future.
  4. I must say I loved seeing Faye too. She is a shady, haughty, nasty bitch, but she's far more stylish than dumpster diver Brandi and her diction is impeccable. I do hope she makes a further return.
  5. RHoBH Kim: She is an a$$hole. I really don't see how she took the interaction with Kyle and Brandi the way that she did. Brandi must be passing her pills or sneaking her booze. She has some of the most easily hurt feelings for an adult woman on earth. She is pathetic! Brandi: She and Kim have "been through more"? Really? I did laugh at "Kyle is an attention seeking whore, horrible sister, [bleep] of a bitch"...she also remained much calmer, sharper and nastier in the confrontation with Kyle. Brandi's a dirtbag, but at least she can keep it together when she's sober and really go for the jugular. I don't like Brandi at all, she's heinous, but she's met her match in Kyle. Kyle: She's got this bad habit of squealing with hatred when she isn't getting what she wants. Kyle is furious that she has taken care of Kim, she resents the hell out of her for it. Kyle can't apologize to save her life. Her keen sense of melodrama and that frog croak of a voice she has when things get heated is a real treat. Kyle gets BIG when she gets angry and it's sort of like an overwrought child exploding into a tantrum and it's unintentionally hilarious. Her perfectly timed sigh of devastation when Brandi said Mauricio doesn't want her. You couldn't have written a performance better than that. Lisa V: She broke my heart. It's the unspoken sadness of an adopted parent when they know that, deep down, in the heart of the child they've raised, those adopted parents aren't quite enough. And that's not wrong of Max to feel, but it's hard for a parent to bear. Particularly when she scooped him up and out of foster care, one of the uglier systems in the world, and gave him a beautiful life. She's handling it the right way, and Ken was right to add some levity with the "Well, your father was Japanese and your mother was Nigerian..." because it's a touchy subject. You could see how giving Max the information about his biological parents was the last thing separating him from total independence and being an adult. And that has to hurt. As an aside, she looked chic as hell in that black dress at the gay mixer. Yolanda flies off to Italy. Whatever. Eileen: She said it, it wasn't the time or place for Kim to try and "break the ice" between Kyle and Brandi! I love how Eileen and Lisa R are quiet comrades. Those daytime soap stars know to stick together and they really say nothing at all, as if they had some kind of blood pact when the show started, if so, that was damn smart of them. She makes me laugh with her common sense: "What do you do? Do I get a hose and hose them down?" Lisa R: She's being kind when she describes Kim as sick. She's kind when she attributes Brandi's behaviour to being hurt. Lisa R is kind and fun and self effacing. I dig her.
  6. Tom and Katie...sigh. Those two should not be together. Tom is too old to be pulling this crap with cheating on Katie and then whining and being full of false apologies. Jax is bizarre. He's clearly a sicko. His app? Bitch, please. Speaking of sickos...Kristen, at last, she was fired. At last! The victory dance of Ariana and Sandoval was great and hilarious. Another Stassi free episode. Time to can her!
  7. Wendy recently celebrated the show's 1000th episode, and here's a look back:
  8. RH of Cheshire... So I have finally watched the first three episodes and I've enjoyed it a lot, like Vancouver and Melbourne, the production values are slick and the casting is compelling. The show has really captured the essence of Cheshire. Magali: She's alright. She's forthright and very Dutch. I'm not her biggest fan though, she doesn't seem to be able to just shrug off the petty crap some of these women hurl at her and wants to have it out, though to her credit she wants to have it out to their faces. I don't really believe what she's saying about the tickets to Dawn's event...if she already had tickets and was offered others why would she have to ask if they're complimentary...drawing the distinction between complimentary and free seems like a bit of a reach. Dawn: A very hard, tough woman...but I don't see her as a bitch. She's a very typically hard Northern Englishwoman. I don't feel sorry for her regarding her hysterectomy either, but that's because I don't think Dawn plays for sympathy at all. She's very hard. That's how Northerners are in England. She got over her crap with Magali very quickly. She definitely puts her foot in her mouth regarding her daughters (stupid) band. Lauren: I like Lauren, she reached to Magali and plays fair. Plus, she clearly looks down on Tanya and spends real money. Leanne: I HATE Leanne. Now this one is a total bitch who likes to get involved in everything except her own life. Ampika: Meh, whatever, she's dating a commitment avoiding guy after dumping her nice guy ex. Her son had impeccable manners, so well done to her there. Tanya: I HATE Tanya. She is trash. Stupid, uneducated, WAG trash. And her face does not move one inch. That is some extreme Botox going on.
  9. Dame Joan had dinner with John James and Jack Coleman and tweeted that she enjoyed reminiscing with her "favourite Dynasty men"...
  10. This was a great week on RHOBH...(and thank you all for the kind words!) Kyle: Obviously, she is very skilled at playing the victim and she can well up those tears at the drop of a hat. Brandi was hitting below the belt, but what I've noticed with Kyle is she gets loud and tearful the moment unflattering truths emerge about her...she hardly spoke to her sister till the seasons started? Ouch. No wonder Kathy Hilton gives her the death glare. The thing about Kyle is she is convinced she is special and that her conflicts are epic battles when the reality is she's a realtors wife who lives in a perfectly mediocre house that's in that prt of Bel Air an awful lot closer to the freeway and Sherman Oaks than it is to Beverly Hills. HOWEVER, Kyle popping off at Brandi was a welcome sight and her sense of emotional entitlement and keen sense of melodrama made all her whining and sniffling entertaining. It was interesting that Kyle's demeanour changed quite starkly when she was in the car with Lisa R. She pretty much blanked her. Lisa R: She is wonderful. So smart and ballsy and true. She calls it as she sees it and I think she sees it for what it is: there are two addicts on this show and only one of them will admit it. Her jewelry party was great to watch, one of those quintessential Beverly Hills events where women spend money under the guise of charity. Brandi: A drunk, a nasty drunk. This Valley Girl ex-wife of this generation's Troy Donahue really needs to check herself into rehab, but a small condo in Century City and shut the hell up. She was batshit crazy at Eileen's house and made a total ass of herself. She is Kim's enabler. There is no doubt about it. Those two slur together as the base of their friendship. And for her to get in Kyle's physical space was pretty dire. Like Nene, Brandi has the advantage of her physical presence, but unlike Nene, she can't manage a clever line to save her ass. Eileen: Our Beverly Hills (Malibu) Ice Queen. I love how frosty and direct she is with Brandi. She thinks Brandi's behaviour is terrible and she says so. It is quite refreshing. That said, she is talking to a brick wall. Brandi is such an entitled fool that she thinks she can get away with anything, likely because she has her whol life. It was hilarious to see her husband peek through the garage door windows to witness the carnage. Eileen and Vincent clearly view things similarly. They're both smart. Lisa V: A very easy, breezy season for Empress Lisa. I get the feeling she conducted herself very carefully this season and said No to events when she didn't want to be bothered. The simple truth is she is compelling to watch even when she's happy because her life is visually stunning. All those beautiful dogs. The house. Bonding with Eileen (who knows how to pick a winner). Yolanda: It dawned on her that she backed the wrong horse last season and she was clearly uncomfortable around Brandi. And she dusted off one of those spare children she keeps in her attic for a few scenes. Whatever. Kim: Pilled. Out. Kim is only worth watching when she's fallen off the wagon, sad to say, and she demonstrates a particularly sick narcissism when she said that Kyle and Brandi both love her and she doesn't know who to choose. A very typical child star: desperate for attention and oblivious to their own shortcomings. She needs really long term detox and rehab and a reality check. Everyone seems accustomed to bailing her out and she seems fine with others caring for her. In fact, she seems to love being a mess.
  11. This week's episode proved that Stassi is totally irrelevant and unnecessary this season. Kristen is absolutely psycho. Her obsession is so weird to watch and her behaviour at the restaurant should get her fired. Miami Girl...she looks like an old hooker. Arianna was hilarious when she dismissed her cheap ghetto nails and her Pope like white lace dress.
  12. John James has a puffy face, he's always carried weight in his face and that's why it looks heavy...but the redness is either rosacea or sun damage and in either case his face is screaming out for some Intense Pulsed Light treatments. I don't think John James ever had an issue with alcohol. Dame Joan's nickname for him was 'Dow James' because of his skill investing in the stock market, he has that bloated look that a lot of wealthy white men who've spent too much time in the sun have. Dame Joan tweeted the following: Obviously, Dame Joan and Stephanie Beacham look the best by a country mile but Maxwell Caulfield and Jack Coleman are looking good too. Leann Hunley has gained weight, but she's still pretty and Wayne Northrup looks rugged. The rest...well none of them look as awful as Bo Hopkins!
  13. Dame Joan was at some Hollywood signing show with John James, her absolute best friend on the Dynasty set.
  14. Peter and Vail's awkward date...ugh! Poor Peter, that was a bad one! Jax is a sociopath. His "I'm in love with {insert name here}!" just rings incredibly hollow. I don't think Jax knows what love is. Kristen is a nutjob. Thank goodness that awful James finally said he doesn't like it. Stassi is a loser. Worse, she feels entitled to anything from other people. It's about time someone told her it isn't all about her. Katie nailed it: Stassi thinks she's above them. And she's not. In fact, she's unemployed and a loser. Katie also nailed that Stassi wakes up with hatred and anger in her heart. Of course she does! She is one of the nastier pieces of work I've seen on reality television. She's got an ugly soul. Stass IS a crazy person for being affected by Katie's attempt to change. Scheana really needs to but out of every conversation that doesn't include her. That said, her melodramatic screeching will be welcome next week. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Sandoval next episode. The Miami Chick looks like a tranny.

I'd be fine with it. Y&R has been gutted from the inside out for a solid decade and DAYS is floundering badly. I would hate for the actors to lose their jobs, but I'm also realistic to the economic realities of putting on shows that don't make financial sense. The problem with an old skewing show: the audience dies and in daytime, the audience doesn't get replaced. I have an aversion to saying Moonves rewarded Julie Chen with The Talk or calling her a trophy wife, aside from the fact she's hot, she had a very nice life going with Big Brother (which she got prior to her relationship starting with Moonves) in the summertime and being a Beverly Hills housewife the rest of the time.
  16. DaytimeFan replied to YRBB's topic in Off Topic Lounge
I agree with this 100%. I think Moonves is quite hands off when it comes to CBS Daytime...and he lets Angelica McDaniel oversee things to the extent that she can, she seems to not have a lot of success against the strong or apathetic personalities at Y&R, TPIR and LMAD. B&B and The Talk have the huge benefit of having smart, experienced people totally invested in the success of the projects: Brad Bell has both personal and financial reasons for B&B to thrive and The Talk has the benefit of Chen, who is very focused on the show succeeding, John Redmann (who enjoyed huge success at Leeza! and The Rosie O'Donnell Show and dealt with Tyra Banks and Tony Danza's failed talk shows; he's seen the good and the bad in the industry), Sharon Osbourne, who promotes the heck out of the show everywhere she can and has very straightforward views on how a show succeeds. None of the network daytime divisions have cohesion anymore. It isn't the 1990s where you had some real commitment to that daypart. The View may be reaching the end of it's natural life cycle, the show is a chore to watch in comparison to The Talk and I don't think anyone is going to say it's Nicole Wallace or Rosie O'Donnell's fault...those two have gotten along really well. Rosie Perez has been a disaster and it's an open secret that Whoopi has wanted out of the show for years now. But for her pay or play $5 million a year contract she wouldn't be there, but that kind of money has been hard for Whoopi to turn down, prior to The View her career was in Hollywood Siberia. They should be begging Meghan McCain to join, moving O'Donnell to the moderator's chair, firing Perez, letting Whoopi leave at the end of her contract and finding, keeping Wallace and find another young woman with a solid education (like Star Jones and Lisa Ling did back in the day) to give the show some balance. The current panel is too old and irrelevant to the daytime viewer. The Talk hosts are younger and even Sharon Osbourne, whose older than any of the current View ladies, seems far younger: she's more current and hip than anyone on The View panel. If The View is to survive, and I'm not too sure that it should, it needs an overhaul.
  17. DaytimeFan replied to YRBB's topic in Off Topic Lounge
I don't even mind Sheryl Underwood. The Talk is a likeable show, it's light and enjoyable and the chemistry works. ATWT was always going to end, just as all the soaps will end, just as all shows will end, ATWT had it's run and P&G clearly wasn't invested in improving the show. The demos were bad and CBS made it's decision. A vanity project for Julie Chen? Yeah, but it's worked out, so they're all laughing.
  18. We won't know about Jeana and the other alleged new Housewives till OC airs...remember all the filing BH did with a couple of women who didn't end up making the cut, that'll happen again, I think Bravo learned from Carlton and Joyce on BH and Danielle on OC that they need to film more than have a few people to weed out anyone who flops on camera. I do hope Jeana comes back to OC as a full housewife, she WAS the show for a long time.
  19. That episode was all sorts of uncomfortable to watch re: Kristin. She is out of her mind, certifiable, psychotic and deluded and dangerously obsessed. She needs to go. The show doesn't need her and I can't be alone in saying I find watching her uncomfortable. James is her bitch, obviously, given how she flees to Tom at a moments notice.. He should feel humiliated, but given he looks older than his years and has a trashy faux classy accent, he likely doesn't see how badly he's coming across. Stassi is a loser. She is so unnecessary and does nothing for the show anymore. She trashes SUR at every opportunity but can't stay away: she's irrelevant without it. Jax, the rent boy formerly known as Jason, clearly had a relationship with John. Jax likely comes from a very dark, ugly, bad past and he's gone wherever someone would take care of him. Very sick. Scheana is so dumb. Lobotomies don't result in her level of basic. Tom Schwartz, he's very smiley and loveable and nice and apparently he's kissed every guy on the show. Maybe just a free spirit, affectionate like a puppy? Katie had better be merciless in dumping Stassi. Vail was good to watch, she could easily fill Stassi's role.
  20. I have to defend the Toms...I have done exactly what they did, on a number of occasions, doesn't say anything about their sexuality. It was a great episode because Vail is getting Jax'd and for an Ivy League grad she's acting pretty dumb! Pandora is her mother's daughter, she was running that kitchen like it was her own! And finally, a Stassi free episode, which highlighted why she doesn't matter to this show at all anymore and should not return next season!
  21. RH of Cheshire: NORTHERN ENGLAND! It will be screamingly tacky and so much fun! RH of Melbourne: That promo is amazing! I am so thrilled they dumped that awful bitch, Andrea, and have embraced their fabulosity! RH of BH: This week's episode was good because Brandi revealed herself to be as deranged as everyone said she is and Lisa played her dumb ass just right while Yolanda showed what a bitter cow she is, with Lisa basically waving her off at her own dinner table. Eileen was class personified by keeping it together and Lisa R made be burst out laughing with her candid thoughts on Brandi. Who cares about Kim and Kyle, they don't matter unless they're fighting each other.
  22. Joan worked with George Peppard in a 1970 movie called The Executioner and Peppard propositioned her to sleep with him, despite the fact that he was married with children (so was she!). After she turned him down he didn't speak to her for the rest of the shoot. She didn't have a complimentary word to say about him.
  23. It was a good episode but it highlighted why Jax and Stassi both need to go by the end of this season... Jax is a sociopath. Here's a handy definition: a person with a psychopathic personality whose behaviour is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. The way he had sex with the girl in the bathroom and then brazenly lied to his *best friends* is just disgusting. He is evil. Stassi is a narcissist. Here's a handy definition: extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one's own talents and a craving for admiration. She isn't an employee of SUR, she thinks she matters. And she does not, at all. She is the height of irrelevant and yet she is trying to be in the thick of things. She is a controlling idiot. Tom and Katie...I don't care, Tom and Arianna...I don't care. They're all dumb 20/30 somethings who are over and they don't even know it. It's the most delicious trash TV!
  24. RHoBH Ken's "for now, my dear" was damn flawless. What venom for Brandi. Kim slurring her toast that consisted of bland "I love you's" to Brandi was a big pile of whatever. Kim was "shocked" Lisa didn't invite her to the PUMP opening? Give me a break, Lisa has consistently hated Kim, why the hell would she ever welcome her to her restaurant opening?! Yolanda moaning and bitching about being a single mom: "you didn't invite me here!" once she saw PUMP, "My best friend has ALS!"...what an attention whore. She is so needy and clingy. Lisa being silent for Brandi's toast, "No, she doesn't love her" and "Why would I want to have lunch with you?" were epic. And best yet, Brandi's parents tried to sell a reconciliation to Lisa and it just plain failed. Kyle: what a bitch. Portia didn't learn "whose better, Lisa Rinna or Lisa V?" from no one. The minute Lisa left the party she stirs the pot. Congratulations Kyle, you haven't taught your children any useful life skills. What a failure! Brandi: an awful lot of stress over a house warming party. What a ludicrous baby voice. What a random Leeza Gibbons cameo. And her poor parents pitch hitting for her, why does Lisa make her nervous? BECAUSE LISA SEES HER FOR WHAT SHE IS! Lisa Rinna is a hustler and I love her positivity. Eileen's laugh. She's just like Kristen! She is so positive, love her Lisa V love, love her icy disgust at Brandi's conduct. It was a great episode because ALL of them, except Lisa R and Eileen, are beyond pressed that Lisa has dumped these women like the toxic waste that they are!
  25. There is nothing like a Dame and now, she is one. In Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's New Year's Honours List, Joan Henrietta Collins OBE has been made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to charity. Dame Joan leaving her home in London on the evening of her appointment:
