  4. Jeanne Ruskin, best known to soap fans as Laurie Karr Dallas is in the news over plans to redevelop the Inwood NY neighborhood where she lives. Jeanne Ruskin, 71, an actor and teacher who first came to Inwood when she was 10 to visit relatives from Europe and has lived in the area for 37 years, said: "The people who have been displaced from all these other neighbourhoods end up here because we still have affordable housing available. businesstimes.com.sg/real-estate/manhattans-last-affordable-neighbourhood-under-siege
  5. Feb 8 1972 First appearance of Suzanne Davidson as Betsy July 21 1972 Tom and Carol's wedding (on location at New Jersey church)
  6. I have been impressed with what I have seen of Paul Carr so far. Not so much the character or the writing but his delivery and overall take on the character. Ann in her Mrs Lomax disguise looked like Linda Richman Why do soap disguised always consist of fake looking wigs and glasses? There appears to be a new hospital set but it has yet to be shown in full. Maybe while it is being constructed they've had to avoid any scenes at the nurses station. One thing that has always puzzled me is that even when episodes are not set at the hospital, they will show various nurses/staff on that set in the credits. Why pay for extras if that is all they will be used for?
  7. Just reading an old interview with P&G exec Mickey Dwyer Dobbin around 1997. She was talking about ATWT and was asked if Julie might be returning. Her response was "Who's that"? These execs were so clueless. You'd think that if you were getting paid 6 figures to oversee 3 shows, you might spend some time brushing up on the history of said shows. She also said that she didn't want flashbacks on the GL 60th shows because viewers would realize that it was an old show!! So why celebrate 60 years at all??
  8. In light of recent Rusty/Liza discussion
  9. Those graphics and music were far too generic for my taste. Yes, SFT needed to keep the clouds theme but it was really only a minor update of the original titles. I see Tom Bergman listed as"Tripp" What was that about?
  10. August 21 1981 Don Chastain, who plays Dr. Max Taper in CBSs’ “Search for Tomorrow, has been named head writer for the soap opera. The daytime drama celebrates its 30th anniversary on Sept. 3. Chastain will continue to portray Dr. Taper occasionally in the future.
  11. Newspaper blurb Nov 1 1951 Never A Dull Moment On “FHY” It can’t be dull on CBS-TV’s daytime drama, “The First Hundred Years.” The adventures of Chris and Connie Thayer (played by Jimmy Lydon and Olive Stacey) and their lively parents range all the way from brushes with the underworld to the elder Thayer’s nomination for Mayor and nothing’s ever simple! And roundabout these high spots of adventure, the young Chris Thayers cope with the sometimes tender, always engrossing problems of newlyweds.
  12. Some more dates Feb 2 1972 Gillian Specer debuts as Jennifer June 14 1968 Rosemary Prinz last appearance as Penny Sept 25 1969 Dean santoro debuts as Paul Stewart
  13. Great analysis! Thanks for sharing. So sad to see SFT's potential squandered...
  14. Some 1967 info Due to an AFTRA strike, regular programming was disrupted on these dates April 3-7 and 10th ATWT was replaced with Candid Camera reruns.
  15. Jan 30 1970 Ep # 3582 This is from an actual script. April 10 1972 Lisa Cameron's first airdate as Peggy Regan
  16. 1967 After OPW Eileen worked on her nightclub act throughout 1966.
  17. May 3 1965 Eileen Fulton's last ATWT episode before appearing on Our Private World Jan 16 1967 Eileen Fulton's first day back as Lisa. Episode #2812
  18. The convention coverage for all 3 networks listed only evening pre-emptions on the Wednesday. 1957 Mon Jan 21st CBS- 11:30am-4= EST; SPECIAL - Presidential Inauguration -
  19. That damn robot story was so annoying, totally pointless and not funny,
  20. Ok, so I have some more info that may make things clearer. 1956 13 - 17 August CBS DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CONVENTION Mon, 1pm-approx 3pm Tue, 1-4pm Thu, 1pm-3:30pm Fri, 1pm-3:30pm all times subject to change Those were the dates /times listed so it appears ATWT was actually pre-empted 4 times that week unless there were last minute changes. This was in an industry newsletter, so a trusted source. EON would not have been affected as it aired at 4.30 pm. Also it appears ATWT was not pre-emped for over Thanksgiving.
  21. I have a question about Eileen Fulton's exit listed as NYE 1964, just a few months after her return (repacing Pamela King) I thought that when she returned she stayed on till May 65 and her move to Our Private World? Re your earlier question about Mark Rydell's debut. I have that date listed in TV Guide episode summaries. The Edge of Night Home Page has some 1956 episode numbers, so I would assume that these matched ATWT as they debuted the same day and there would not likely have been pre-emptions at that point. August 17 is listed as Ep 100, and Sept 3 Ep 111 and Dec 7 ep 180.
  22. Charles 'Cole' Howard Phillip 'Chance' Chancellor
  23. I'm assuming Anne Francis listed as appearing in 86 is the actress (Honey West, Dallas)etc If so, In what capacity did she appear? Also, Ruth Warrick returned for a few appearances in 1963 as the Hughes celebrated Pa's 70th.
  24. Some information that may help As the World Turns was pre-empted August 13-15, 1956 because of CBS' coverage of the Democratic Presidential Convention. Helen Wagner was indeed dropped from the cast the week of July 6 1956.That would have been at the end of her 13 week cycle, I guess. Irna Phillips wasn't happy with her portrayal of Nancy but good sense prevailed and Helen returned, That Soap Central departure date is incorrect I believe. Dec 12 was Mark Rydell's debut as Jeff baker.
  25. Did Floy Dean play Liz first and then Eve and finally Laura?
