  1. Re Marlena and her age. It did help immensely that Deidre has had excellent work done over the years. Jackie Zeman should have got Dee to give her a referral.
  2. As much as they were (are) ridiculous Leanna could have fitted into Restless Style, GC Buzz/Hilary Hour and now Newman Media. She would bring out Jack's playful side and cause all kinds of mischief. Trouble is Josh would probably use her for sledgehammer comedy relief.
  3. Speaking of MASH, we have AfterMASH which debuted at #1 but slowly dropped in the ratings in its first season, to the point that CBS replaced it with Kate & Allie which luckily for them drew viewers back to Mon @9. For season 2 there were some changes but the show was moved to Tues @8 (traditionally a flopzone for CBS) where it was pummelled by The A Team. What went wrong? Was the format the problem-w/o the war background and Hawkeye/Margaret/Charle The pilot 'Walter' which in contention for the 84/85 season. It dis air at some point. Radar is a spinoff from M *A *S *H with Gary Burghoff in a reprise of his Radar O'Reilly character, now working as a police officer in Kansas City. 20th Century-Fox Television is producing and the team of Bob Schiller and Bob Weiskopf are scripting.
  4. Big yes to all of this. It seems odd to me that a set can go up for Keemo's LA house, Chance's therapist office, but not a simple set for the police station, Nate's apartment,Amanda's office etc
  5. Mary Patton Caroline's Golden Store Jane Darrell
  6. I'm not completely up to speed on the Alex North story on Days, but would it have worked better if Alex had have been involved with Samantha, who was pretending to be Marlena? Or was it just so ridiculous that no tweaking would have helped?
  7. This the cancelled soap section and General Hospital is still on the air. If anything it belongs in the Proposed Soap thread, but that is for actual soaps proposed by network and production companies not some fantasy ideas in an article. So I would direct anyone interested in the topic to head over to the 'Proposed Soaps Over The Years' topic in Discuss the Soaps and not duplicate the thread here. Thanks.
  8. The budget situation seems to be dire. There is no money for sets and extras. How is this happening? I believe Days and GH have extras and u/5/ dayplayers. Surely the #1 show deserves better. The women's costuming seems to be supplied by the same manufacturer. Pretty much all the gals are in tight off the shoulder dresses and tops. Characters like Devon,Ray, Nate,Lauren, Jack etc supposedly have careers and businesses but spend their days in restaurants or at home, if they have one.
  9. That's Eric's take. Maybe Mal Young just wanted to take Victor off the frontburner instead of centering the show around an 80 yr old character who had dominated the show for too long.
  10. Well she did stick around at Big Valley for 4 seasons.
  11. That's all they ever do. I'm guessing they were at Society? Are there any extras yet ?
  12. Maybe the time he spends responding to strangers online, he could use to polish the scripts. He must know he is going to be blasted on social media, so why bother investing on any level? Deal with your demons Ron...
  13. Y&R Jack (Terry Lester) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) Great sibling chemistry. Even though they bickered and challenged each other, you could also see that when the chips were down...
  14. Good point, I hadn't taken that into account. Although in 1980 she would have been in better shape.
  15. This story fall flat on a number of levels. One of them is the 'tell don't show' method of storytelling. If we saw Nate at the hospital checking the x rays etc it would build more suspense. Nate meeting Ashland at Society (where else?) and telling what he found doesn't work for me. Chance got a psychiatrist office set but they can't pull together an office for Nate? (makes no sense)
  16. Like the lesbians and the black characters Allie will hang around so Y&R can say they promote diversity.
  17. Just discovered that ABC revived 'Grand Central station' as a 5 day a week radio series in 1956. Each story lasted a week. Lynn Loring Grand Central Station 'The Letter' July 56 Jone Allison Grand Central Station 'The Letter' July 56 Mildred Clinton Grand Central Station 'The Letter' July 56 Bill Quinn Grand Central Station 'The Letter' July 56 Elspeth Eric Grand Central Station 'The Letter' July 56
  18. I was thinking about Barbara Stanwyck and her ill fated stint on The Colbys. She wanted to work but it seems only Aaron Spelling was willing to employ her. How would FC fans think of Barbara as Angela Channing? Jane Wyman did a fabulous job but I feel Barbara would have definitely nailed the role also. For those familiar with La Stanwyck, how do you think Angela might have been different had she played her? Do we know of any other names that might have been bandied around for Angela?
  19. Will Allie hook up with Noah and play out their romance at Crimson Lights?
  20. When was Jack last seen or even mentioned?
  21. Daytime and news were on tape which was cheaper than film which was used for primetime and film. Also, nobody thought they needed to be preserved as there was no rerun value. Tape was regularly wiped in those days and reused and wasn't as durable. It wasn't until mid/late 60's that tape improved- hence the arrival of All in the Family which changed the sitcom world.
  22. i guess that would have been alive half hour so Lynn could easily fit it into her schedule.
  23. Oops, didn't do my research thoroughly. Guess I would fit in as a writer on the current soaps!
