  1. When you tune in and the first 3 scenes pretty much tell you the content of the entire episode... The Mariah 'story' has been going for months with little movement. The Cane/Dumas story fell in a heap. I'm sorry but seeing Eric Braeden in a chair or occasionally shuffling around the set while delivering odd line readings is not captivating TV.

  3. At least show Leslie at the door and the organizing woman leaving and then Leslie bluffing her way in.. 'Anita is expecting me.' As it was, she was just suddenly in the room. The staging for the CC dinner looked off with Bill/Hayley, Jacob/Naomi squashed together with a big gap in the middle. Maybe Randy just needs to come clean with Joey and tell him Hayley is his cousin and say that Hayley never told Bill so they're keeping it secret for now. If Hayley is now poisoning Bill regularly why are there no symptoms as yet? Is this a soap poison that has it's own special formula? Now we know Hayley's agenda, what is her shelf life? Will the poisoning scheme fall in a heap and she'll have to try something else? Or will there be a twist like she is injured, develops amnesia and forgets her scheme?
  4. Maybe Major Dad could have been the Sat lead in to Family Man? Although Sat was no longer a priority for the networks. This was early in the season but changes were already being made. CBS Evening Shade which started on Fri @8 was moved to Mon @8 to replace Uncle Buck that wasn't working Mon. Puzzled why they didn't move Major Dad forward a half hour as it was the stronger show. Try Uncle Buck @ 8.30Mon. Uncle Buck was moved to Fri but didn't do any better. The Wed lead in of Lenny/Doctor,Doctor were quickly canned and 48 Hours was moved from Sat. Earth Force and 48 Hours Sat 9-11 were replaced by Beverly Hills Cop 2 NBC Fanelli Boys and Dear John were quickly swapped on Wed 9-10 in the hopes that amore familiar show would draw viewers. Puzzled why NBC would think Fanelli Boys was strong enough to be the 9pm show. ABC They were keeping things in place but shows like Married People, Cop Rock, China Beach were headed for the axe.
  5. Nah that's the GCAC. Where do Christine/Danny actually live? If they're not based in GC why do they keep turning up? Their only relative is Daniel and Lucy who we haven't seen in ages. Wonder if she'll show up at the wedding?
  6. Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm allowing for new sitcoms 8.30/9.30. Hopefully something strong enough to take over from GG at 9pm once that show began to slide. Apart from KL everything else on ABC/CBS was a disaster on Thursdays. Maybe Twin Peaks should have stayed Thurs @9 to at least maintain some sort of cult following. It would have done as well as Gabriel's Fire. Moving it to Sat kind of said that ABC were not interested in 'quality' programming. Same with China Beach. Don't know why CBS would pick up a middling sitcom like Hogan Family and then bury it Sat night. Was this what I was referring to earlier where BTS stuff comes into play. Maybe CBS picked up Hogan Family to establish/maintain relationships with certain producers/creatives etc.
  7. As nice as the flashbacks are ,it points out that at some point the Hortons were devalued. Steve and Sandy and then their children should have been in the mix along the way. David Banning should have had more of a presence etc. Wish Lisa Trusel had have been included.
  8. CBS should have moved Major Dad and Designing Women to build a new night but the trouble was the schedules were sitcom heavy at that point and there were no opportunities. ABC wanted to be rid of Twin Peaks. It might have faired better Wed @10 but there was misplaced faith in Cop Rock. NBC had too many sitcoms with duds like Fanelli Boys and Parenthood and Grand cluttering up the schedule. They should have been more focused on keeping Thurs, Sat strong and maybe another hour here and there. CBS finally moved Dallas but Over My Dead Body was another poor choice for Fri @9. I guess a lot of these shows get on the air for reasons other than their actual quality (or lack thereof).
  9. Tell that to BTG !
  10. I guess the only upside to Josh's 'deaths don't mean they're dead' policy is that Cole, Chance and Damian can all make a comeback. Three deaths that happened within weeks of each other for no reason.
  11. And their 14 yr old son found his mother's body.
  12. Ilsa Fredericks Gwyda DonHowe, January 19, 1981 - July 22, 1981; September 1, 1982 - December 6, 1982. During a time of constant cast changes, somebody remembered Ilsa and she was brought back. Tragically killed by her husband. Donhowe, Gwyda (1933–1988) American stage, tv, and screen actress. Born Oct 20, 1933, in Oak Park, Illinois; stabbed to death by husband who then leapt from the roof of their apartment building, Jan 15, 1988, in New York, NY; m. Norman Kean (theatrical producer), 1958.
  13. Love how Kirk has the steering wheel spoke in the vertical position. In reality he would be driving in circles. And Nathan Lane as a young newlywed in the Dinner Classics commercial. Poor wife is in for a short lived marriage and a lotta heartache.
  14. As The World Turns Patricia Bruder had pregnancies written in but I'm confused as to actual dates Wikipedia says she has 2 children born 1965 and 1968. Annie and Dee were born 1967 and 1969. So I would assume Dawn( Dee) was the 1968 pregnancy but was Annie onscreen only? Can anyone clarify?
  15. Ropers was a smash in it's short run the previous season, but that was on Tues following 3's Company/Taxi . I wonder, once it was picked up were their new writers? Did they use scripts from the original 'George & Mildred'? The same thing would happen a few years later with 'Joanie Loves Chachi' which was an instant hit following Happy Days, but a new timeslot and writers and the show bombed.
  16. 'Matt Clark' is the new 'Alexander Dumas' in terms of the number of times Nick and Sharon say his name. Why don't they alert the police if they are convinced that's who he is? Last time I checked, faking your death was a crime.
  17. There are some dissenting voices who feel Andre/Ashley are a destiny couple. God knows why.
  18. That Jaws rating put it at #2 of movie premieres to that point, only beaten by Gone With The Wind 3 years before, It also placed #14 of overall ratings behind 7 episodes of Roots, 3 Superbowls, a Superbowl pre game show and the two parts of Gone With the Wind. Mork and Mindy was the lead-in with Jaws starting at 8.30 pm. Salvage 1 #61 /13.1/21 was placed at 7pm replacing failed sitcoms Out of the Blue and New Kind of Family. NBC programmed a 2hr Disney-20,000 Leagues Under The Sea 7-9 16.2/24 and Part 2 of the movie MacArthur 9-11 10.6/15 #65 lowest rating show of the week. 19. For my own sanity I should ignore this interview, but anyway, a breakdown of Joshie's comments. “I wanted to do a big suspense story with Sharon and Nick at the center of it." OK that's a choice, rather than a love story or family story. “I was [thinking]. ‘I’d love to take it outside of Genoa City.’ Why? The show is set in GC. Just so what little money there is could be spent on sets that can't be used again? Or will the bar, like the Cane train, somehow come to town also? And I started thinking, ‘L.A. noir,’ [that] I wanted to do like an L.A. noir. So then I thought, ‘Well, is this a femme fatale that Nick’s been involved with? Femme Fatale is pretty intrinsic to Film Noir. So at the first step, Josh admits there isn't one of the fundamentals of that genre, but still calls it noir. And I said, ‘No, it needs to be tied to the history.’ So I looked into the history, and there was Matt Clark, the great nemesis he was, and as is always the case, just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he has to be dead!” Just ignore a death because it suits the plot despite once again defying logic. He already did it with Diane. And we're meant to accept it. At this point he can make up anything to tell a story. Such integrity and respect for storytelling. And he rambles on ... Did meeting Noah bring back all his anger and all the past, and he set THIS TRAIN WRECK OF A STORY in motion because of that?’” There you have it -from the horse's mouth. While both Sharon and Nick will go up against Matt, “Really, the protagonist/antagonist battle is coming down to Nick and Matt,” the scribe teases. Of course, it comes down to a man to man conflict as Nick protects Sharon and his son. It becomes a nightmare, not just for Nick and Sharon, but to the whole Newman family.” And the viewers. FIRE JOSH!
  20. I don't think videotape was advanced enough at the time to be suitable for location work? Video tape required special cameras that weren't available? There is some sort of technical explanation that is beyond me.
  21. I just read that interview and there are no words. The level of delusion...I think Josh channels Phyllis when writing. And that LA Noir tag he keeps throwing out -LA yes Noir no.
  22. I love SSH-she is soap royalty. But why the Granny outfits from the Traci Abbott outlet mall? The ugly print longline tops, chunky necklaces, slacks and comfy sandals all the time.' I'd love to see her in something more stylish and contemporary.
  23. I thought bringing Cole back was a good idea. Not that he was the most exciting character but JEP improved once he settled in after so many years. The reason for that is after so many marriages and romances, it really stretches credibility that Victoria would once again be falling in love (especially when the show usually goes with the character being sooo in love-see Kyle/Lola/Summer/Claire.) So an old romance returning is more acceptable. But they did little with Cole after the nonsense intro with clown villain Jordan. Just have Cole return and him and Victoria rediscovering each other and using Cole's many years away as a springboard for story that would complicate things. Instead we got coughing Cole followed by corpse Cole and those possibilities were DOA. But of course with Josh's writing Cole could be back from the dead anytime.
  24. Why was it necessary to make RH Matt Clark? Another BFTD story and landing him with a villain/rapist character? Why not just make him a new character with an agenda against Noah? So far, everything could play the same w/o having to accept that Matt somehow is alive. The Mariah/Tessa 'story' has been going for months and nothing is happening.
  25. Kicks aired Monday March 11 1985. A wealthy man with a penchant for living on the edge and engaging in dangerous, life-threatening activities becomes romantically involved with a female university professor who has the same proclivities. It ranked 50th for the week 13.2/21 share. 3rd in it's timeslot.
