Y&R to air classic episodes
That was the clip shown in the 1998 Daytime Emmy broadcast. 1998 Lead Actor race was Peter Bergman, Eric Braeden, David Canary, Anthony Geary, Kin Shriner. The episode for PB that was shown on the broadcast was Jack confronting Diane about being involved with Victor; I don't know what the second episode was.

The Preemption/Out of Pattern Thread
Once CBS set their soap block at 3 1/2 hours, the official schedules were like this I think Monday February 4, 1980- Friday June 5, 1981 Eastern time: 12:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 1 pm Y&R 2 pm As the World Turns 3 pm Guiding Light Central/Mountain/Pacific Time: 11 am Y&R 12:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 1 pm As the World Turns 2 pm Guiding Light Monday June 8, 1981-Friday March 26, 1982 Eastern time: 12:30 pm Y&R 1:30 pm As the World Turns 2:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 3 pm Guiding Light Central/Mountain/Pacific Time: 11 am Y&R 12:30 pm As the World Turns 1:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 2 pm Guiding Light Monday March 29, 1982-Friday March 20, 1987 Eastern time: 12:30 pm Y&R 1:30 pm As the World Turns 2:30 pm Capitol 3 pm Guiding Light Central/Mountain/Pacific Time: 11 am Y&R 12:30 pm As the World Turns 1:30 pm Capitol 2 pm Guiding Light Monday March 23, 1987-Friday September 18, 2009 Eastern time: 12:30 pm Y&R 1:30 pm B&B 2 pm As the World Turns 3 pm Guiding Light Central/Mountain/Pacific Time: 11 am Y&R 12:30 pm B&B 1 pm As the World Turns 2 pm Guiding Light

Y&R to air classic episodes
I remember when Y&R all of a sudden starting showing male backsides. I only remember Paul and Brad having those scenes though.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Australia must not have been that far behind if they are also airing repeats. From that French site Soap Passion, the last episode aired in Switzerland was on May 1 (CBS airdate January 30) and no indication of any episodes broadcast there after May 4. France is airing episodes from March 2019 and Luxembourg is airing episodes from May 2019.

Y&R to air classic episodes
If that's the case, then next Thursday and Friday could be their weddings. On to today's classic. First half of 1997 was not among Y&R's finest hours. I was happy to see EB's Emmy winning episode though. The clip that was shown on the 1998 Daytime Emmy broadcast was Victor confronting Jack about the Dennison deal.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Quadrangle: Ashley/Victor/Nikki/Jack Feud: Victor/Jack I also think the younger categories were created to keep the newcomers from overshadowing the veterans. The younger categories didn't have an age limit until 1989 when it was set at 21; the age limit was raised to 26 in 1991. In the years where there was no age limit in the younger categories, there were nominees like Debbi Morgan (1986 at age 29) and Andrea Evans (1988 at age 31).

Y&R to air classic episodes
1984 is when Y&R became Y&R as we know it today. To think this episode was before the eternal quadrangle and eternal feud began.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Cricket was only part of the summer storylines then. It got worse when she became a full time cast member. Maybe next week's theme is parties. Monday could be Sharon's birthday, Tuesday Christine's bridal shower, Wednesday-Friday TBD.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Could next week possibly be a Nick/Sharon week?
-
Y&R to air classic episodes
@YRfan23 If there was going to be a theme of current cast member first episodes, we could fill almost two weeks with 1980s episodes alone

Y&R to air classic episodes
I have a feeling September 21, 1994 was the first episode of either Sharon Case or Michelle Stafford. Perhaps the week of June 29-July 3 is first episodes.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Same here. From what I've seen of that year, that's really when Y&R became Y&R as we know it today.

Y&R to air classic episodes
@soapfan770 Are you thinking of Carrie Genzel? She was rumored to be a Victoria recast in 1999 in case contract negotiations with Heather Tom fell through.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I remember reading that Jennifer Gareis originally auditioned for Victoria but was cast as Grace instead. I can't think of any other soap names that would have been potential Victoria recasts in 1997. Some soap names thrown around for Victoria in 2004/2005 were Sarah Brown and Christie Clark. There was a 1990s Y&R trivia book that mentioned Alison Sweeney auditioned for Victoria in 1990.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Part of why the first half of 1997 was a lull is that there were a few recasts: Victoria, Phyllis, Grace. I can't remember if Cassie's first episode has the first Grace.

Y&R to air classic episodes
This was the 1992 Lead Actor race: Peter Bergman, David Canary, Nicolas Coster, A Martinez, Michael Zaslow. David Canary had won 1986, 1988, 1989 Lead Actor so there was some voter fatigue there. A Martinez won 1990 Lead Actor plus Santa Barbara was on it's last legs so that also discounts Nicolas Coster. Michael Zaslow was Guiding Light's first Lead Actor nominee and it was rumored that GL submitted not very good episodes for him. Based on all those factors, one can see how PB won. That I don't know.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Am I the only one who was not riveted by that scene? Jack is just yelling. I chalk up PB's first two Emmy wins to weak competition in the Lead Actor races. Cricket was introduced in 1983 as part of the summer story and she was also a part of the summer stories in 1984 and 1985. As we all know, Lauralee Bell joined the cast full time in Summer 1986 and proceeded to eat the show for the remainder of the 1980s. On to today's classic. Shemar at his peak hotness, be still my heart 🤤 🥰

Y&R to air classic episodes
So Monday is possibly Cora (Victor's mother), Tuesday is Cassie, Wednesday is ?, Thursday is Dina maybe, Friday TBD.

Y&R to air classic episodes
If my calculations are right, the SOD recap from their July 31, 1984 issue would cover the weeks of July 2-6; 9-13, 1984. The SOD recap from their July 17, 1984 issue would cover the weeks of June 18-22; 25-29, 1984. I think the upcoming 1984 episode is where Victor is reunited with his mother. Global update. Wednesday Global/Thursday CBS is 4738, original airdate November 15, 1991.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I've fallen down the rabbit hole of looking at ratings, EP, HW, time slot history for CBS's daytime dramas. For As the World Turns, I looked through 1978/1979 (the year they lost #1) to 1994/1995 (the year of OJ and P&G's EP swap) and I compiled this history. 1978/1979: 8.2 (4th). Collier to Jerome and Bridget Dobson in January 1982. 1982/1983: 7.6 (5th). HW change from Jerome and Bridget Dobson to Carolyn Franz and John Saffron in May 1983. 1983/1984: 7.9 (6th). Guiding Light Discussion Thread
From some further research, the big ratings drop seemed to start in the mid-1980s. 1979/1980: 8.3 (5th). HW change from Jerome and Bridget Dobson to Douglas Marland in December 1979. Time slot change from 2:30 pm ET to 3 pm ET on February 4, 1980. Michael Zaslow departs in April 1980. 1980/1981: 8.2 (4th) 1981/1982: 8.0 (4th) 1982/1983: 7.4 (6th). HW change from Douglas Marland to Pat Falken Smith in October 1982. HW change from Pat Falken Smith to L. Virginia Browne in November 1982. EP change from Allen Potter to Gail Kobe in February 1983. HW change from L. Virginia Browne to Richard Culliton and Pamela Long in February 1983. 1983/1984: 8.1 (5th). Pamela Long becomes sole HW in September 1983. Kim Zimmer joins the cast in November 1983. Beverlee McKinsey joins the cast in February 1984. 1984/1985: 7.5 (4th) 1985/1986: 6.8 (6th). EP change from Gail Kobe to Joe Willmore in January 1986.
