  1. In my scenario Sonny fades away like Jesse Brewer. Molly and Kristina scenes remind me that I am watching a 2024 program. The show has to find a way to keep Lindsay Hartley (and I think that these are hair extensions). Tracy doesn't deserve scenes with Sascha talking about Cody.
  2. Ι think that Curlee (or was it Calhoun?) wanted Rita to return with Holly and Roger, but Lenore Karsdorf turned. So they must have had something in mind for Rita storywise.
  3. They were both playing mothers of young adults in the mid-80s. My other pick would be Nancy Addison Altman.
  4. Marj Dusay before she got trapped in the bigger than life matriarch role. They wanted to bring back Rita in 1989 and she would be just fine.
  5. Coward Sonny sees his entire family get involved in a murder case because he killed a man in cold blood and he just sits there watching the mess like a senile old man? And why are we supposed to care about his point of view in this story? He is not even hot in order for crazy fans to want to f🤩ck him.
  6. Team East Coast. Soaps suffered a huge loss when they stopped being produced in New York. And prior to that, when they started casting people with West Coast looks and acting skills.
  7. Recast within a month?
  8. I just finished watching Ryan's Hope. The show's real problem was that it went through some very good story really fast in the beginning and that it was never able to move from the original key characters to someone new. This is usually a primetime soap problem, that's why I said that most of the 80s felt like the last seasons of Falcon Crest or Knots Landing. They moved from Eugene O'Neill to Gloria Monty and JER very quickly, I understand the Luke and Laura effect, but still, there was also All My Children in this world. The show's obsession to focus on the mob, why? Not to mention with the sl*tty young blonde who drives men crazy. We had the Kim years and then the Maggie years. Should we be thankful that the Reenie Szabo prototype never took off? The last episode made me sad. The GH madness was over, more sophisticated soaps were successful in the late 80s. There was still a lot of hope in the Ryans.
  9. 1985 and the new Ryan's Bar and kitchen ruined it for me. Why destroy the oldest and most iconic sets? Even the living room looks different, everything is brighter and more generic. I miss the green blankets. This is officially the Maggie show. Frank and Roger have been acting like perverts around her. After that she got involved with Max. Maggie and Dave are BORING. The Bill Hyde actor makes Joey Tribianni look like Sir Laurence Oliver. Rick, Ryan and DJ just showed up. Robin Mattson is worse than I expected. She acted the same way as Gina on Santa Barbara, taking over from another actress and turning the character into another person overnight. Come to think about it, Linda Gibboney would have made a much better Delia.
  10. She just arrived in the episodes I am watching and she looks... older than what I expected to see. The show is trying to building a young crowd scene at Greenberg's and I hate it. Watching Scott Holmes acting like a nice, fun guy makes me uncomfortable for some reason lol.
  11. I loved Cullen, the frigid Amanda. The actress was quite unique. In my GL I would bring her back for a few episodes as someone who runs an orphanage in a war zone and almost lives like a nun. Think Bette Davis in the Old Maid. The madame situation would be mentioned and in one sentence I would blame everything on Morgan and poor Amanda would have taken the blame in order to protect her sister and her young child... who would end up being Josh's and the mirror image of young Amanda Wexler.
  12. Pat Falken Smith brought her Stefano Dimera from Days to Ryan's Hope as Max Dubujack, right? And he seems to be obsessed with Jillian... In other news, Maggie is the new Kim these days. Thank God Rae and Kim are gone. The Proud & The Passionate and Merit Kara.. God... The show was really lost. The 1983 opening is the best one so far. The closing tune reminds me of 80s Another World and this is not a good thing. I am watching early 1984 episodes and the show feels like the last days of Falcon Crest for some reason. Or any 80s primetime soap for that matter. Joe #3 is horrible. I can no longer stand Jack and I adore Little John who acts like Baby Delia and I am loving it. They should have brought Kathleen's daughters as teenagers by now in order to breathe new life to the Ryans. Casting has become too generic. Many handsome men and none of them is charming. And after first seeing this man as Robert Barr on Santa Barbara, all these decades later, I still believe that Roscoe Born was the hottest man ever on a soap.
  13. I hope that there will be something soapy about these films. I have a hard time thinking of a soap opera in film form. I can see a Hubbard movie and something with Erica's circle.
  14. First of all I am not really familiar with Rena Sofer's original run on the show, I have just watched random scenes. For some reason I find the actress boring. She bored me on Loving, Melrose Place and B&B. The idea of Brooklyn's mother in town is fine by me. I don't mind the type of the character either. I guess I don't like the way she is playing the part. Would make sense I guess. Or her new love interest. What I really hope is that she is thinking "Come on guys, this has got to be Thomas Hardy" lol.
  15. I never thought that there was someone more annoying than Lucy. And then came Lois. Why is Jordan so obsessed with this random stranger? Have I missed something? Ric fits so well in the canvas. I am enjoying Lucky and still cannot understand why the show chooses to tell a story from an old mobster/murderer's point view. He is not even charming or hot. Oh and Emma Samms looks amazing.
  16. I read Tracey Bregman's interview in the Classic Y&R thread and she mentioned that Gloria Monty wanted her for GH. Do we know which part she was supposed to play?
  17. Not to mention that Edward Scott and Melody Thomas happened.
  18. So the Qs went to sleep after an FBI agent was murdered in their estate and the killer was not found? Both characters would have been written out years ago if they weren't portrayed by these actresses.
  19. Robert being the DA was a weird idea. With Robin and Emma out of town, what is left for him to do? I think he looks like a man of his age, which is not a bad thing. We are just used to bottox, fillers and wigs on soap stars who try to look the way they did twenty or thirty years ago. I doubt that Steve Burton will be able to pull off the Jason look much longer and MB looks weird with the black hair and all. Some years ago Robert and Tracy might have been a fun idea.
  20. Team Landon here. Not every single 00s blonde girl should be considered for the part. With all these names, I find it weird that nobody has mentioned Adrienne Frantz.
  21. Michael the Lesbian Boy and his umbrella. Such an iconic soap moment.
  22. Sonny scenes are awkward and embarassing. I don't (want to) understand who he is supposed to be on this show, but MB is making it even worse. And it makes no sense that he would kill John Cates in the Q Estate in the first place. Oh and the idea that this old man had sex with his ex while visiting his grandchildren is sad. The character needs to be written out, he has become a real problem. What was his last story that worked? I prefer Ric as the town lawyer. Scotty reminds me of a pimp at a strip club.
  23. Thank you so much for your detailed answer. I think SEARCH was one of the most difficult soaps to fix. There was only Jo and Stu, everyone else came and went. Every new writer/[producer showed up with completely different ideas and their own characters, so SEARCH hadn't an identity of its own. When the Kendalls and the McClearys showed up, where where Jo and Stu supposed to fit? It was after all a half-hour show.
  24. The sad is that we don't even dare to dream something like that.
