I really need BTG to be a success, because I love soaps and want the genre to make a comeback. The show feels like a more decent and serious B&B and this should not be a good thing. I agree with the people who want more of a 90s GH vibe and less of a Bell soap one. MVJ decided to start a new soap with a family of twenty people. The show's matriarch and patriarch are already great-grandparents to some grown up people. There is already too much history between these people. And too many secondary rather unimportant characters around the main family. Is there a couple around for the viewers to fall in love with? Where does Washington fit in MVJ's story? This could have been Madison, Rosehill or Henderson. I don't want BTG to end up in soap history like SSM's Generations. At this point, I think that there is a need for a change. Perhaps a story consultant? An experienced soap director? (Not from the Bell universe!) A new EP? Something. Along with some recasts. I mean... Hayley... shouldn't she be a little more interesting? Why should I care about Ashley and her boyfriend? Or Vanessa's story? Perhaps it would have been better if Dani and Nicole were best friends and not sisters. Now everyone is related. Vernon could have been Dani's father and Anita could have been Nicole's mother. And I really need the show to feel soapier and more dramatic. If Days can make me cry with John Black's death and GH can make me care a lot once in a while... What is BTG's identity? Being identified as the black soap is not enough. Even the opening is something out of the late 90s. Make it work people.

Thank you so much. It feels so wrong. And it is sad to see a P&G soap trying to mimic the cheap DAYS aesthetics after JER's success.

I've been reading about the Company redo for years and I have never seen the set. Could someone please tell me where to find some scenes with it?

I get "The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone" from Nikki's look. Her character would be great for this kind of story.

The show lost me after episode 6, when I realized that MVJ promised CBS a black B&B. The shooting at the wedding, the live streaming, the press conference with someone in their wedding dress. This was too much for me, way too soon. The fact that everybody is super famous and mega rich, the weird thing with the character versus actor age... However, everytime I watch some scenes, I see a rather good B&B, but this is not my cup of tea. I understand that no network would back a black RYAN'S HOPE, but the truth is that I expected something else.

Cane is supposed to be the same age as Nina and Cricket, right? And old enough to be Chance's father. This sounds like a mess. And for no reason. Not to mention that I love the A.D. name, reminds me of an 80s mini series.

Sounds fascinating. And with your love for soaps at their best, I am sure it was wonderful. Everytime I need to get away from reality, I pretend that I was assigned to save GL in early 2007 (a horrible time for the show) and I am trying to keep the show alive up to today. Everytime I mess things up, I start again lol.

I love the name Aristotle Dumas. It screams 80s mini series.

I was not crazy about the wedding drama. It felt like a telenovela. So this is Bill's living room? Did Hayley move her furniture from her apartment? I don't mind Martin at all. I like all the kids of the family. Hayley is becoming Megan Markle annoying. You know it is a soap and eventually there will be no room for two white best friends. Either Pamela or Vanessa will have to go. And I don't find Pamela interesting at all. The scene with Derek and the bartender was painful. So nobody pays attention when an elevator stops working in a hospital? And none of the Duprees were contacted by their friends after the gun video went viral. Loving Leslie and Eva.

I have never watched shows like Greenleaf or Queen Sugar. Does BTG have that vibe?

My question might be stupid... We know that the 80s soaps were inspired by the glitzy primetime soaps. 90s soaps were inspired by the Spelling soaps abd JER. After watching a week of BTG, what would you inspired the show storywise and/or aesthetically?

Bill is hot and fascinating. Such a presence for a new show. Hayley is so annoying and I don't buy this naive act at all.

Some thoughts before reading your posts: I love how Dani's energy is different when she talks with a man. Whether it is her father, Bill or Andre. I feel that I have been watching Dr Nicole for decades. Anita's look when Vernon stood up at the wedding. The idea of Martin and Smitty having 16 and 17-year old kids is beyond stupid for many reasons. BTG's first week made all the other soaps look tired, bored and boring. Not that crazy about the last scene with the shooting. It felt like something out of B&B or PASSIONS. But I guess it's a new show and they need to keep people hooked. Bill is HOT and Hayley -not the actress- is annoying in a new Real Housewife way. I don't mind Ashley, but I still don't understand why we are supposed to care for her. The makeup on the ladies is amazing. MVJ has done an amazing job introducing us to a brand new universe. After five episodes I feel that I know these people and care for them.

I loved it, it would be very difficult for me to hate a new soap's first episode. The show looks amazing. It looks fresh without losing the soapiness. Andre and Jacob look like twins. I don't get the purpose of the white couple in the premiere (well, I kind of do). Unless one of them dies the first week and the family is somehow involved. The Hayley actress seemed a lot more charismatic in the opening than in the actual episode. I know that she is new to soaps and it means nothing though. Kat felt like an extra. I liked Chelsea. Vernon is so charming and Bill is HOT. Loved the grandfather/grandson vibe and Dani's switch when Vernon showed up. The idea of a casual family gathering was a great idea for the premiere. Wishing BTG the best and I hope that the other soaps wake up.

I like the first few and the last few seconds of the intro. A part of me wishes that the first few seconds was the intro lol. Never cared for actor names in soap openings. Reminds me of primetime soaps and I see daytime shows as a different experience. At least the font was classy. The people from Y&R should check it out. I liked the idea of the faces behind the gates. Everyone looked amazing. Some of the ladies images remind me of reality show intros. Something like Real Housewives. I expected something more interesting. Didn't hate it, but I wanted something else.

So Dani is the star of the show, right? She is the star in every promo. BTW the show looks amazing! Can't wait!

I knew that there would be some GH retcons in this ... lol. Thank you so much. I still think that Trina would be better off with an older guy, instead of having a teen romance.

I'd rather see Trina spend time with TJ instead of this random boy. (They are not related, are they? lol) This would give TJ something to do and help Trina turn into a more mature and sophisticated young lady. She works in a gallery and used to be involved with a Cassadine. Kai is a story for Charlotte.

A Campus killer was also featured on the LOVING movie. Great find, I never expected to watch an episode of this lost show.

I adore Denise Alexander. They could have rebuild the Matthews family around her during that period. The McKinnons ended up being another family that lasted only a few years.
