  1. Sean Garrison. As I have never seen any of Halsey’s John I thought that was him until learning otherwise. I mean I liked Gideon as Jill from what we saw but Garrison’s John was strange with that German accent or something. I think someone else mentioned there was a another John as well but it’s probably buried in this thread 100 pages back. Thanks too @will81. My guess is after Halsey flopped as John Bell decided to pause the character for a while until a suitable actor was cast.
  2. Pretty much. Yikes! If anything at the very least I think better drama would come out of it if Devon began desperately wanting his own son and began pressing Amanda to bore and/or adopt a child. Amanda is very hesitant/reluctant about it as she wants to be more stability and also a bit apprehensive about it as she remembers Hilary was pregnant when she died. Imani however becomes close to Devon and a lot more open to hearing of Devon’s plight, causing friction between the three. But the show would actually have to write for Imani….
  3. From 1996….sorry we have to sit through SS Ashley(would have been 100x had it been either BE or ED) but I just have continued appreciation for Mari Jo & Diane Barton here in this confrontation:
  4. Completely agreed. I think the only interesting pairing story wise Neil had after Dru’s death was Leslie; the debacle that was his blindness story and subsequent revenge plot against Devon & Hilary was complete and utter character assassination that Neil was never paired again with anyone else and left on the back burner for KSJ’s final years.
  5. Thanks! I know Jill got involved with Andy of all people afterwards so it’s interesting to me that on how John and Jill would reunite the following years. Thanks! 6. What did people think of the original Jack/Jill/John triangle of 1980-81? I wish it was available to see. Was it even brought up again in 1982 when John and Jill got back together?
  7. Other than the Last Blast dance that year of Chloe’s video, evil Lexie, and the Kiriakis mansion fire with Kate’s comeuppance Days was terrible in 2001. Days in 2001 tried to be all things--love stories, family stories, teen stories, social issues, crime stories, murder mysteries, evil twins, cheap stunts, and the kind of bizarre plot twists that seem uniquely Days. It was a foolish to mix all these ingredients and expect it to work. But, in an era of ever-decreasing ratings, and trigger-happy networks, Corday & Langan instituted a plan they thought would hold onto the viewers of the Reilly-era, but also keep the more traditional soap viewers. They failed. BIG time. They wanted an everysoap--they got a mess.
  8. We all should thankful that Ron didn’t write a full blown mystery over who chopped off Duke’s head complete with multiple suspects (Sami, Ava, EJ, Gabi, Xander, a very bitter Father Eric lol) and had scenes of Trask bossing Shawn and Eli around about no arrests in who chopped off Duke’s head. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  9. Roger Grimes was first mentioned as 1981 in Enter Alexis as Alexis explained her affair with him and how Blake almost killed him during Blake’s murder trial but the show didn’t implicitly have Roger be dead until the last season.
  10. Good for Creech. It is interesting casting I didn’t even know Creech was still acting at all. Actually a bit shocked that Thudley didn’t stunt cast someone like Nia Long, Sharon Leal, or something random like Tanika Ray. Creech was alright on ATWT, just had some really bad writing. Her time on AW as one of the many Dana’s was thankless which I am quite sure this may end up being. Perhaps I would be more impactful had Zoe been recast and was still on the show?
  11. LOL that remind me of why I save this review from a Tom Smith of Soap-News date 5/22/2003: GUIDING LIGHT: Yeesh. I was prepared to totally rip this apart, but I’m aware that one of the people involved in creating the opening threw a hissy fit of sorts after seeing it dissected on The World of Soap Themes message board. Okay. It’s not nice to see something you worked hard on shredded by people who have no experience in music or television. Of course, if you really worked hard, should you be bragging about how easy it is to change the opening by going on to your hard drive? Let’s just say it: The theme song is brash and tuneless, and the opening graphics look cheap and scream computer-generated. The whole thing looks like someone wanted to capture the essence of the classic Knots Landing theme from the 80’s, but was too lazy/cheap to get it right. Of course, Guiding Light plays like someone’s too lazy/cheap to get it right these days.
  12. Does Bonnie even mention any of other kids Patrick and Connor at all lol? Kind of surprised they haven’t resurfaced. But I wouldn’t mind Mimi back even if it’s a recast actress. She could easily be used as a good go talk to for Belle while her and Phillip could make themselves useful and search for their lost son instead of Phillip going bonkers over Chloe. Johnny and Chanel being married so fast is silly and ridiculous especially now that he’s possessed but I liked him talking to Stefano’s portrait as so far Johnny has had zero interest anything DiMera related. Lucas and Sami are together again so of course there is uneasiness…like a reverse situation of the time when Lucas & Sami reunited but Sami had to hide the fact she was Stan. Roman & Kate redux? Ehhhh….
  13. @sheilaforever Not sure about Diamont with Tom it could be the case. I know Heather Tom has been directing episodes of Dynasty this past season and has done a wonderful job. Given that show is filmed in Atlanta I’m quite sure that took up a lot of HT’s time. Given Katie hasn’t had any decent story in years except for when Thudley needs some Emmy bait material I doubt she is losing any sleep over decreased airtime.
  14. Happy 45th anniversary to this long lost soap. It’s too bad the show outright flopped and not much is available at all of it. Who knows what NBC Daytime would have looked like if Lemay’s show had actually succeeded with both casting and in better writing.
  15. You’re quite welcome! It’s actually some old stuff I saved like 17 years ago from a WOST discussion topic I wish I knew who to give the proper credit too. I dug up a real version of the 1989-90 closing lol. The recreation itself wasn’t bad until I heard the narrator. It is unfortunate none of the themes and openings of the 00’s never came close to either. The 2002 opening looked great but I thought the music while decent was pretty generic. The 2003 open was a dingy cheap debacle. The 2005 open was adequate but nothing memorable. The less said about OLCSTW the better, while the absolute worst IMO was the 70th Anniversary open.
  16. I suppose while I am at here’s the background info I have for My Guiding Light:
  17. Hold on To love was definitely my favorite GL theme. I use to enjoy listening to the end credits music because it was so calm and peaceful, even when the show got to rough to watch. I didn’t care much for the Laibson era variations, especially the island one and the 80s electric guitar riff ones. The more jazzy version was decent though. Here’s the background information I have for Hold On to Love:
  18. Maybe that’s what I’m thinking of or thinking Donna was alongside Katie during a visit from Brooke about family drama. Like I said I maybe misremembering. The Spencer clan has petered out for sure. I wouldn’t be shocked if Thudley has finally become bored with them….I remember when Thudley wrote out the entire Marone family in a single episode back in 2012 out of the blue lol.
  19. Thanks @YRfan23! I think Donna appeared once or twice last month but maybe I’m misremembering I’d have to go back and look for sure. A second month with no Wyatt lol. Not that I’m complaining but I suppose that is probably just about it with Wyatt and the Fulton ladies now that both Bowden and Richards are off contract. Or next time Wyatt does appear he’ll announce him and Flo had an offscreen breakup lol.
  20. Y&R right now is stuck. There's no moving forward or backwards. It's just a hot mess. Actually make that a cold mess because there is nothing hot about it. Y&R is past due getting new writers and I believe it too late for the show now.
  21. Maybe Duke is the next one to get either get possessed by the Devil and/or gets a Stefano microchip planted in him! 🤣
  22. The catty exchange between commenters Chris and Kevingm over Days ratings is hilarious!
  23. Thanks @carolineg and @AbcNbc247. I was so confused especially when Brady and Chloe were saying Kristen had Phillip holed up somewhere lol.
  24. BTW how exactly did Brady get his charges dropped by Trask? I know Phillip left row. But did I miss another Kate/Trask scene somewhere?
  25. Thanks! I was so in and out with Days during that year I don’t remember how the Hollingsworth stories ended lol. Next thing I knew Phillip was down by the docks again except with that sketchy father/son duo played by Wes Ramsey and Gordon Thomson who didn’t last long either.
