Catching up on previous replies… I always thought Nate’s turn for the dark last year was brought on between a quest of revenge against Devon for what happened when Nate’s surgical hand was injured as well as Imani playing Lady MacBeth however JG never addressed the psychological reasons, something which is a terrible shame. As for this week so far…. Shout out to the trio of actresses that is SW, AL, and ZS carrying the show at the moment for good performances this week. FINALLY on Tuesday we got the scenes of AL Summer and Phyllis I was looking for way back in May I was looking for. Summer’s rejection on Tuesday and outright cutoff on Friday were perfectly well done. Campy bad green screen roller coaster or not it at least allowed Summer to breath be fun for a moment….at Chance’s advice. We’ll see where this goes. I’m still for a Summer/Chance/Sally triangle lol. It was minuscule but the scene of Diane confronting Audra at Crimson Lights was well done and played. ZS had done a great job of Audra on the defense this past week including her paranoia, yet ZS managed to hold her own against both SW and MTS. With SW Diane cementing herself into GC society I feel like Diane is a character we’ve needed to have for the last decade and it’s finally filled a gap. SW continues to be the lead and dominant actress on this show. In regards to Phyllis I wish she would have had to don an orange jumpsuit again…I mean even Latham sent Phyllis to jail. At least Daniel & Summer still stood their ground in their rejection, but Phyllis & Lauren having a tea party in Chancellor Park was silly to see.

I am curious about something but why did the networks give up the full 4:00-5:00 hour over time? It seems to me that TSS and Edge enjoyed tremendous success in the late afternoon timeslot in the late 50’s/early 60’s. Not sure why that slot withered over time leading the networks fest cede the 4:30 slot around 1967 or so and then finally the 4:00 slot by 1986 just in time for the rise of Oprah. Always been curious had The Brighter Day’s move to Television City from NYC and purchase by CBS from P&G had worked out. The three definitive soaps for CBS are obviously Y&R, ATWT, and GL. @kalbir is right IMO the Best of CBS Daytime was 1989-1993. Y&R was in its golden age and at its zenith, ATWT was in its silver age under Marland, GL was back to its roots and revitalized, and B&B showed significant promise by giving us the Spectra’s.

RIP Sharon as well. I really loved the Nina/Flo relationship and wish they had a built a working class family around them as well. (Nina’s dad, a couple of half siblings?) I first remembered Farrell as the nasty stepmother in Night of the Comet (one my favorite 80’s cult flicks) and that’s where I first knew her from. Farrell’s casting was of a time when Y&R could cast an old-school Hollywood name or well known character actor without making a big deal and Bell having it work well on-screen, unlike all the DOA D-list washups we got during the MAB era.

Thank god as when I was last posted I was very concerned that something had stalled out. I’m glad the cast and social media were able to get the word out as if the cast hadn’t I’m quite sure the misery would have continued unchecked unfortunately. Even as Days has moved over to Peacock it has been good to see a loyal fan base that had stepped up.

Disappointing and disturbing to wait all week to see that Alarr remains on the job as of this post.

That schedule change really did wonders for CBS and came at a time when Y&R and ATWT were starting to improve in quality after a dismal 1980-81. The line-up made sense to put a stronger Y&R first close enough to its original timeslot, return ATWT to its traditional 1:30 timeslot, and have SFT air as part of a nice P&G soap block with their new modern openings (well except for GL’s messy one). I’m not sure how it went down but if there wasn’t a hoopla about SFT’s time slot moving it probably could have still aired on CBS until B&B premiered. From what I’ve seen it looked like ratings rose during that 2:30 period but I guess SFT was just on borrowed time by that point. In the meantime Ryan’s Hope just appears to collapse 1981-82 in both ratings and in quality in the 12:30 spot.

SC’s over the top campy acting with exaggerated facial expressions with hands flailing and flapping in the air makes Liam look like a Tex Avery or Chuck Jones cartoon character or something.

Wayyyy too much Lame! I forget Zende and Paris are even on contract with the show. What a shame.

LOL…At face value at least this is at least juicy/scandalous compared to garbage like Kyle & Theo’s secret about that “big terrible thing we did in NYC”, Ashland’s mystery past, and the death of Amanda’s father (which completely played out off screen). Amen!

Ahhh I can see it now….. When Sheila sees Liam and Steffy kiss for the umpteenth time, she is disgusted and wants to get Finn a more loyal woman. She makes a visit a remote cabin up at Big Bear. Vinny appears. Sheila tells Vinny it’s time for him to come back to being amongst the living. Vinny shows up at Thomas’ place. Thomas is shocked but ecstatic. The two reconnect in secret over the next couple days. When Thomas tells Vinny that he’s been missing something in his life for the last couple of years and that is him, Thomas and Vinny kiss just as a shocked Hope spies on them through a slightly open door. Hope is devastated and runs off to II Giradino to get drunk. Finn is there getting drunk as well over his marital woes and the two talk and bond. Deacon cheers them up by offering up his newest pizza recipe, Pizza Amore, which contains aphrodisiacs. Finn and Hope continue to bond over the pizza and wine to the point they share a passionate kiss, to which Liam sees just as he walks in! A frenetic Liam calls Steffy she needs to get down to II Giradino right now to see Finn and Hope kissing. Steffy hopes on her motorcycle and races on, only to get hit by $Bill, who ran a red light to get to back to his office to close an important deal. And now Steffy is in a coma as JMW goes on maternity leave. Meanwhile a lonely Wyatt house sits for the Forrester's while Eric & Donna are away. Wyatt watches a porno and jacks off but ruins the brand new Parisian chaise lounge he sat on with a big white stain. Sheila catches and films Wyatt in the act, and then blackmails Wyatt into getting her a job at Spencer because what he did was sinful and because she sent Eric & Donna the video about what really happened to the new chaise lounge.

The show tried to give Rhineheart’s Jessica an actual story where Jessica and young Bonnie were targeted by white supremacists but story was a mess and ended when a car bomb went off in Kim’s car (or Kim driving Tom’s car) on the one year anniversary of the OKC bombing. Late the show actually first paired up Ben and Jessica when Rhineheart was in the role for a while as the show’s token black couple but there wasn’t any chemistry and then Camille arrived. After that all Jessica did was be the town lawyer until Tunie returned in 2000. Catching up to some previous stuff… Killing off both Paul Stewart and Liz in one swoop just feels so short-sighted and reckless. I suppose the show came out unscathed in the long run but I can easily how Irna was fired for that. The show later tried to establish some connection when Paul’s son showed up in Oakdale but the character was DOA. Thanks again @FrenchFan for the 1968 summaries!

LOL. It’s a shame Brash & Cwikly were let go in favor Ken being cheap with Dena, which was a complete disaster and to the point NBC wanted JER back or else. Days at least got be the comeback kid in 2006, 2009-11, and again late 2012-2014 following when most had written off the show as doomed. But to the point the thought had crossed my mind as well that Peacock could just go ahead and cancel the show as a way to simply put a stop to the conflict altogether. As devastating of a decision as that would be, I wouldn’t be surprised.

The fact this has been going on now for the last 20 years really puts a dark cloud and shadow over a show that’s been already troubled for the last 20 years. 8/11 marks 20 years since JER 2.0 began with start of the Salem Stalker.

I’m rather shocked it seems the show is dragging it’s feet on firing Alarr. Maybe I shouldn’t be given how long it took with Morina at Y&R but the longer the show drags it feet the more damage will continue to be done. I’m glad the cast is sticking together on this one to overthrow a tyrant. Shame on Corday for letting this run on long like this. Lynn Marie Latham at Y&R comes to mind but it was all anonymous sources at the time and rather discreet.

Yeah Finn has been a character who has been front burner for 3 years now and is popular unlike the duds that were Ivy, Flo, and Shauna. Well I do have to appreciate Finn’s honesty and upfrontness about the beach incident whereas Liam & Steffy have been going behind everyone’s back and in Liam’s case underhanded tactics. Makes the Lame one even look worse. Maybe I can hold out for Sheila killing Liam? 😁

Yeah even more recent details are suspect; I don’t recall Meta ever mentioning Trudy during Mary Stuart’s run or the show mentioning Meta’s whereabouts after Stuart’s demise (except the horrific “RIP Mary Stewart” debacle”). I appreciate the work that went into SOC’s character profiles but the inaccuracies are very glaring. I still recall the utterly strange case of Chris Sarandon’s minor GL character once having a fully fabricated fan fiction written profile on their site.

I have déjà vu on this. Years ago, probably back like 600 pages in this thread lol I recall someone (maybe vetsoapfan themselves?) mentioning that Bruce was just never mentioned again, and it was simply assumed/speculated by the SOC writer either Bruce and Meta had separated or Bruce had passed on at some point. it reminds me of Penny and Edith Hughes ATWT profile of Penny’s 2000 return of her name dropping long lost Hughes relatives and their current whereabouts when in reality that never happened lol. 😂

I wonder about that myself but it seems to happen often on Irma’s soap that one of the core original family members would get discarded and forgotten about. Here on GL we have Trudy, ATWT had Edith Hughes, and AW had Janet Matthews. Trudy could and should have been brought back at any point in time. Heck Johnny and Lacey could have easily been Trudy’s children.

I actually did like the whole setup that Billy, Jack, and Diane did. Definitely kudos to JT, PB, and SW because for stepping up because the faked GCAC confrontation was actually well done and very believable enough to be some juicy drama when I’m reality it was all just for show. Jack and Diane marrying on Y&R in 2023 was never ever on my bingo card but you know what I’m satisfied with this result. In hindsight the show never should have let Diane go and I’m glad the wedding did make some reference to 80’s and 90’s Jack & Diane in spite of the flashbacks being of the past year.
