Taylor’s finally joining reality in 2019. Maybe Reputation was just a one-off way of dealing with her toxic press, but she was super serving and speaking primarily to her superfans, and I think she wants greater cultural relevance than that. So her stuff’s launching on streaming, which is how most people her age and younger consume music these days. Adele has a lot of older fans, but even they are joining the streaming revolution (as a lot of country music fans have been).

As exasperated as I’ve been by Bethenny over the years, I do think this is a loss, and the show will need to be very careful how they replace her.

Well, for ABC, Sean Spicer has accomplished the short-term goal of bringing a fading, nearly obsolete reality-competition franchise (that people forgot was still on!) back into the national conversation. The outrage, for now, has played into Disney’s hands. Whether there are any long-term repercussions remains to be seen. People are all verklempt about Marvel Studios losing Spider-Man to Sony. Maybe they should be talking about boycotting Marvel films instead. I think it’s about two years too late for this to feel truly relevant. (Big Brother at least snapped up Omarosa when she was fresh out of the White House and had new “stories” to tell.) If only people had ignored it...
