  1. I have finished watching all the episodes availiable on the app. Does anyone know if there are recaps of 1981 and 1982 availiable on line? I have done a search but haven't come up with anything.
  2. She was a legend. One of the best. It has been said before it was the way she acted and reacted on screen that made Irna Phillips develop her in to a major character . She deserved so much better those last few years than what they had given her to do.
  3. Thank you @Errol. I appreciate it. Normally I ignore people who would attack my posts. You and @Toups have created a board that I love to visit. I should post more often,
  4. Are you telling me that none of you saw the first episode of Valiant Lady? None of you heard the last radio episode of Ma Perkins? Excuse me but I thought in my history at SON (since before 2009) everyone had a right to their own opinion and could express it without fear of attack.! I may not post as much as I used to but I am not a troll! And for the record, The Secret Storm was originally disappointing but it got better over time! Hello @Toups @Soapsuds
  5. As someone who learned to watch and love soaps at my mothers knee, this is bad! I mean dead fish wrapped in newspaper stinky. I predict threads about this show will be in the canceled soaps section with 2 or 3 years. If that long.
  6. Same here! Papa Bauer, Bert,Mike and Ed, Peggy and Leslie, Pa Hughes, Nancy and Chris, Bob and Lisa were like old family friends to my parents ,grandparents and to me growing up!
  7. I totally agree. Plus the NYC based soaps (which CBS and NBC had a lot of ) employeed a lot of Broadway actors who were - better actors!
  8. I am streaming the Doctors on the It's Real Good TV app. I am in 1973 and I will watch 5 or 6 episodes a day. I love it. It is old fashioned soap that has gone out of style. The Pollocks are good writers but they do a lot of recapping and flash backs. This brings on fast forwarding which helps me watch multiple episodes. I think Nick and Althea are too smart to have put up with Cathy and John and their shenanigans for so long. They have introduced Laurie James - a nurse turned singer back to nurse and a former lover of Hank Iverson. They are wearing out that song 'No Way'. They even had Matt Powers listen to it in his office. I don't remember that song at all. Was it ever a hit on radio? I love Martha! She tells it like it is and is not afraid to put her boss Nick in his place. Carolee is a favorite too.
  9. Karen is a great villianess. She will quiverand whimper at first when she is told off by Althea ,Maggie or Steve but all of a sudden lash back like a devil when attacked. I love Carolee Campbell's ticks and quirks and wil miss her when Jada Rowland steps in. I loved Jada on the Secret Storm and am curious about her take on the role.
  10. 1970's episodes are out of order. You have to watch the dates as you watch the show. I am enjoying the show. Even Ira Avery"s time there were some good stuff. Some didn't like his material. He doesn't last that long. I have said before that the Pollock's do a lot of recapping and flashbacks but I am still loving their stories. Makes it hard when you binge watch like I do. I fast forward during those.
  11. I am! I am enjoying the 30 minute old school drama! I wish Rita Lakin had stayed longer! I am in Feb. 1972 and it is still good. I binge watch. I may watch 1, 2 or even 3 weeks worth at a time.
  12. I never watched The Doctors when it came on originally but I am enjoying it now. True soapy goodness in every episode. Rita Lakin is a great writer. I loved EH as Lucinda on ATWT but she is great here. She deserves every accolade she gets!
  13. Did DePriest do a serial killer on The Doctors? I am watching the show on the It's real good TV app. I haven't got to her stint as Headwriter yet. I am still watching the Pollocks. They do a lot of recapping. Unlike Rita Lakin ,Rick Edelstein or Ira Avery.
  14. As the World Turns co Head writers (and breakdowns) Millee Taggart Nancy Curlee Stephen Demorest script writers Janice Ferri Esser Susan Dansby Nancy Ford Patrick Mulcahey Frank Salisbury Script Editor Courtney Sherman Story Consultants Robert Soderberg Edith Somer Consulting Producers Allen Potter Robert Calhoun I would have to have a big budget to handle this talent.
  15. I have started watching recently and it is better when she is on and behind the nurses desk. She adds a lot to the scene and I suspect it is not all written on the page!
  16. I am watching NBC's The Doctors on the It's Real good TV app. Never watched it the first time because we were CBS people. Rita Lakin is a great writer. She was joined by Rick Edelstein. I just noticed she is gone and he is solo. I hope the quality keeps up. I wish Rita had written some of my CBS favorites.
  17. I was a die hard ATWT fan . I watched for over 30 years. When Hogan Sheffer took over it got hard to watch and for me ,almost unwatchable the last 2 years. I tried to hold on but I stopped watching every day and read the boards and magazines to catch up on what I did not see. Still, I miss As the World Turns. In its' heyday when it was ran by good writers and producers who cared, it was must watch, don't miss TV. The Young and The Restless is at that point now!
  18. Wasn't Robert Cenedella the creaor of Somerset? I have always been curous about him. There is not a lot of info on him. He wrote for many soaps but his tenure was never long. Was he not considererd a successful wrier or just someone who was lucky to be hired and rehired at different soaps?
  19. There was also Montgomery and Associates that Craig started. It was a management consulting company too.
  20. Congratulations DAYS fans! I wish there had been streaming services availiable for ATWT and GL when they were canceled.
  21. It reminds me of the fictional Mary Tyler Moore Show. On the last episode the new owner fired everyone in the newsroom except the inept news anchor wo had been the butt of all the jokes and made all the mistakes. JG is Ted Baxter,LOL!
  22. GL :If I am not mistaken, the Coopers were going to be Bauers - related to Johnny Bauer. Pam Long returned and made them Coopers. The Santos family were to be the Santo family before they added the "S". That is a lot better. I did not care for the Santos family though!
  23. Why would Henderson be a part of the Irna Phillip's universe? Irna didn't create it.Agnes Nixin ( her protoge ) did head write and may have helped to create it but Roy Winsor and Irving Vendig was there at the beginning too.
  24. The big three networks decide that all of their aged serials have run their course. All four soaps are cancelled and replaced with new serials. Some use veteran actors but most use new talent, in front of the camera and behind the camera.
